Just listed in the shop are new eight colorways of Wander sock yarn.
Wander is 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon — perfect for socks, shawls, or baby items. It’s been hand dyed in small batches to create self-striping effect over short sections of fabric (socks, sleeves) and pooling over large sections (shawls, sweater backs, etc.).

Starshowers is the third installment in my themed shawl club. This year we journey along the Silk Road:
On clear dark nights, I often sit,
and spend a quiet hours wake,
just marveling at the sky above,
so infinite so deep and dark.
the countless stars revolve in silence
and here I lay, a tiny thing,
all insignificant and small
under the milky way so tall.
If ever you’ve beheld the stars
beyond mountains or in deserts far,
you know what wonder I describe,
it silences the busy mind.
This asymmetrical crescent shaped shawl uses short rows to create the illusion of sweeping stars and star showers above, and gradient yarn colors to evoke the nightsky with just a hint of light at dawn, and the milky way still visible overhead.

I’m back from The Southern Adirondack Fiber Festival and wanted to say thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth to say “Hey!” to H.A.Y. It was so lovely to see all of you!
I’ve been dyeing up a storm since I returned and have been stocking the shop daily, so be sure to check in. There are new sock yarns (both speckled and striped), bulky thick-n-thin (perfect for your next winter cowl or scarf!), and fun, funky handspun yarns. Lots more to come over the next week too!
For vegan yarn lovers and for those who just like cotton, we have a selection of DK and sock weight pima cotton in a range of bright colourways. This yarn is so soft and smooth with a pretty sheen that’s it’s a visual and tactile feast to create with.
Although I have never been a prolific user of DPNs, a recent project requires them. One of the greatest hassles of knitting with DPNs is the management of them between using them. If you have ever lost a DPN in your car, between the sofa cushions, or, like I did this morning, down the heating/air vent in the living room, then you know what I am talking about! Well, lose those DPNs no longer!
Introducing the Cedar Hill Farm Company version of the needle cozy! I started by making one for myself, and then I just couldn’t stop making them. These handy little cases come in two sizes: 8.5″ x 2.5 ” (21.5 cm x 6.5 cm) and 7″ x 2.5″ (17.5 cm x 6.5 cm). These hand-sewn needle keepers are designed to protect the live stitches of your knitting projects, as well as both DPNs and circular knitting needles. This case will allow you to keep your DPNs in place while storing them between knitting sessions, but it also is ideal for storing your DPNs when not in use. As a case for circular needles, the 8.5″ size allows you to snap the cable into place to prevent it from moving or becoming tangled in your project bag, while keeping your live stitches in place. Because these cozies are 1/2″ deeper than most cozies out there, they are also great for storing you circular needles (both interchangeable and fixed) between projects.

Jenara is a top down, modified triangular shawl. Instead of working two sections as in a typical top down triangular shawl, Jenara has four sections, modifying the shape from a triangle to a crescent. Those two extra sections wrap around your shoulders and help the shawl stay in place.
Jenara begins with stockinette stitch, followed by a simple eyelet lace pattern. The bottom edge is a lacy feather and fan variation with a picot edge. If you’re a fan of Holden, then you’ll enjoy Jenara–simple shaping, feather and fan lace, and a picot edge.
The shawl uses 440 yards of fingering weight yarn. I used Sincere Sheep Cormo Fingering in the color Gloaming. The pattern has both written instructions and charts and has been test knit and tech edited.

Driven by a slightly maddening, not-so-small obsession with colour, and using professional acid dyes and a variety of techniques (kettle dyeing, hand-painting, and immersion), produce beautiful tones and colour rhythms for yarn that you just can’t wait to get your hands on.
Adding additional yarns and colourways in the next couple weeks, working on neutrals and autumn colours (less variety, but larger batches). Will also be adding smaller batch colour pops, so check back often!
Twisting along the Appalachian Trail and passing not far from my home, the invisible line known as the Eastern Continental Divide diverts waters on the East to the Atlantic Ocean and on the West to the Gulf of Mexico. Eastern Continental Divide cowl mimics the incredible path a single drop of water travels upon falling either on the right or the left of the apex.
Everything about this design is local – cotton grown and kettle dyed with eco dyes in Virginia, yarn purchased at my LYS in Black Mountain, NC, inspired by the Eastern Continental Divide and knit in my home close by it. To complete the local lovin’, the photo shoot took place just off the Blue Ridge Parkway between my home and the LYS, where an Eastern Continental Divide sign happened to be plotted right at a hiking trail head!
The tech edited and test knit pattern includes written and charted directions.
