The beads looked different in the morning. Last night they had shimmered under neon lights on Bourbon Street, flashing purple, green, and gold beneath balconies that trembled with music. Now they lay tangled in the gutters, dulled by gray daylight, stuck to spilled beer and something that might once have been glitter. It’s the days after Mardi Gras, or what the locals called Dirty Mardi Gras.

Dirty Mardi Gras features dark teals and deep black mingled with subtle touches of purple, green, and yellow, creating a colorway that captures a brooding and dramatic mood. I’ve dyed this colorway on my standard fingering and worsted weight bases, along with a sock set and minis in fingering and worsted. Limited quantities available until I sell out.

Meet Polypaca, our newest worsted weight yarn, thoughtfully crafted from 50% American Polypay wool and 50% American alpaca. This balanced blend brings together the best of both fibers: Polypay offers structure, elasticity, and crisp stitch definition, while alpaca contributes softness, warmth, and a gentle bloom that gives the fabric an easy, wearable feel.

Polypaca is farmed, scoured and spun in the Northeast and launched in five undyed, natural shades, created by blending white Polypay fleece with the rich, naturally occurring tones of alpaca. The result is a grounded palette of soft, heathered greys and earthy browns, no dye required.

The collection was inspired by a delightful fabric I discovered, Latte Love, perfect for anyone who shares my passion for lattes! You’ll find two bag styles crafted from this charming fabric: my small zipper clutch style project bag, ideal for carrying your smaller projects, and a handled drawstring project tote, designed for larger projects, especially those that require multiple balls of yarn.

There is something powerful about transformation. About the way a story shifts depending on who is telling it. About the way a single figure can be feared, revered, misunderstood, and mythologized all at once.

Mortal, Maiden, Mistress, Monster was born from that tension.

This colorway coils through deep emerald and shadowed pine, flashes of cool jade and shifting teal, and ribbons of rich golden yellow that glow against the green. Veins of shadowed moss and inky undertones wind their way through the skein, lending a layered complexity that feels alive and ever moving. The overall effect is serpentine, like scales catching the light as something ancient and watchful moves through tall grass. It is vibrant without being soft. Lush without being gentle. Beautiful with a dangerous edge.

Mortal, Maiden, Mistress, Monster will be available on two bases:

DK weight – 100% Superwash Merino wool
Soft and versatile, this base allows the layered greens and yellows to bloom beautifully in garments and accessories alike.

Fingering weight – 60/20/20 Superwash Merino wool / alpaca / nylon
This blend offers drape, strength, and a subtle halo from the alpaca. The added depth of this base enhances the darker undertones and gives the colorway an almost living dimension.

This new release will go live in the Crafter Gamer Geek shop on Friday, February 13th.

I cannot wait to see how you interpret this one. Will you lean into the mortal? The maiden? The mistress? Or the monster?
