What to stash this week: Winners and llamas (and yaks)

As a journalist, I love a good follow-up story. We have one this week: In my recent interview with Carl Koop of Bijou Basin Ranch, he revealed that they were in the process of collaborating with a number of indie dyers on special colorways for their Tibetan yak yarns. Before I knew it, I had a Marketplace post from them announcing a set of seven colorways hand-dyed by Philadelphia-based Lattes &…

What to stash this week: A pop-up of some magnitude

As excited as I am about the return of Dan Harmon’s brilliant Community, I’m even more excited about what’s new on Indie Untangled. On Monday, I opened a pop-up shop with tons of skeins from Berry Colorful Yarnings. There are quite a few beauties, including one skein of T Fingering in this beautiful aqua. Definitely check them out before they’re snapped up.

Sign-ups are open for the 2015 Power of 3 Club,…

What to stash this week: Keep calm and buy more yarn

I don’t know about you, but after this past weekend, I could use a massage or something else soothing. Something like Lexi of Queen Bee Fibers‘ newest pattern. Her Keep Calm Cowl, which uses 400 yards of sock yarn, is available on Ravelry and as a kit with Knits All Done’s exclusive Zen Yarn Garden “Keep Calm Keith” yarn.

The Countess Ablaze Twelve Caesars Collection continues tonight at 7 p.m….

What to stash this week if you’re not at Rhinebeck

Michelle of Berry Colorful Yarnings — whose yarn I have the honor to sell at the pre-Rhinebeck trunk show tonight — will be having a very fall-themed update next Thursday, Oct. 23. It includes plenty of self-striping yarns, as well as overdyes and tonals. There are even football team-inspired colorways.

To celebrate Halloween and the final book release of her favorite book series,…

What to stash this week: Geeky goodness

Louise, AKA The Cryptozoologist has taken her yarn to a new “level.” Her shop has been updated to include 100% British BFL Aran-weight skeins, with some more fun video game-inspired colorways. Pictured is a colorway representing Team Inferno from Robot Unicorn Attack II. There’s also Carbuncle, named for Final Fantasy 8′s little green pixie pal. I also discovered a Game of Thrones colorway called Stormborn, named for our favorite Khaleesi….

Inside the Astral Bath Yarns open house

I’ve been trying to find the best words to describe the open house that Ridgely, the artist behind Astral Bath Yarns, hosted this past Saturday in her Portland, Maine, studio. I think it could most accurately be described as one of her frenzied Etsy updates come to life, with the advantage of seeing her beautiful colorways in person and no worries about getting cart-jacked (unless you have short arms,…
