We have a new project kit available in our newest yarn, Himalayan Summit! Eyelet of the Tiger is a lacy cowl designed especially for us. It’s a fun knit that uses a succession of stitch patterns to complement our hand-dyed colorways (shown here in Old Fashioned Villian by Modeknit Yarn). It would also look great in any of the semi-solid colors from our Autumn Spices palette!

Asylum Fibers will be having a shop update Friday, October 6th at 7 p.m. EDT. This will be the last update before the Indie Untangled Rhinebeck Kickoff, and will include a variety of bases in both regular and OOAK colorways.

Ahead of the IU Trunk Show coming up on October 20th, I thought you should be the first to know that the Oak Grove Quilter graciously provided me with another batch of project bags, in new limited edition fabrics, which I’ll leave a surprise for now. These will be available first at the IU event, and any leftovers will be posted for sale online the following week. I’ll also be premiering my new JUMBO base called Monstrosity at the event. It’s a 100% Superwash Merino I-cord constructed yarn, which comes in giant, squishy 250 gram skeins, 21 yards each. If you’ve been wondering what to do with those US Size 50 needles, here’s your chance to give them a go!

The Back Story:

That Clever Clementine’s POP Thru The Parks collection was designed to tie in with Indie Untangled’s Knitting Our National Parks Project. I will offer an exclusive yarny accessory to coincide with the release of each 2017 yarn installment.

The item will be available for pre-order for two weeks, or until the limited edition of 24 pieces is sold out, whichever comes first. (Please note that all previous releases have sold out in twelve hours.)

All items in the collection feature delightful fabric from Amy Peppler Adams’s “Soda Nation” Collection; the October bags have cheerful yellow swirl lining.

Here’s What’s New!

I’m pleased to introduce the third item in this collection, That Clever Clementine’s POPpy bag, released to coincide with Jill Draper’s eye-popping “Walk in the Park” and “Desert Dusk” colorways. My zip pouches are always popular, but this one is extra special — I’m making sweet little Pop Bottle zipper pulls for you!

In addition to holding small-to-medium size knitting/crochet projects, folks say they use these bags to tote all kinds of things — cosmetics, jewelry, phones, and other small items. This one is a terrific size, spacious and yet not too large, and sturdily interfaced. I think you’ll get a lot of use from this handy bag, so if you’re going to pop for one new yarny accessory this month, I hope you’ll consider this one.

This Limited Edition item is $36, plus $4 s/h (sorry, US only).

Ordering Info:
• Pre-orders open at 9:00 a.m. EDT, October 6, at ThatCleverClementine.com.
• Order period closes when 24 bags sell out, no later than midnight EDT October 20, 2017.
• Orders will ship on or before November 22, 2017.

The Fine Print:
• This bag is slightly wedge-shaped, so a bit wider at the top than the bottom. At the top, it measures about 11″ wide; it is about 9.5″ tall (28 cm x 24 cm) when measured flat. The bag’s base is about 3.5″ (8.25 cm) deep.
• As with all handsewn items, please expect some minor variations. In particular, print placement will vary, so you will not get the exact assortment of pop caps you see here.
• All items are made by me, in our pet-free, smoke-free home.

Miss Babs has created 11 new hand-dyed colors for fall on our popular Tibetan Dream fingering weight yarn! This blend of 85% pure yak with 15% nylon creates a soft and durable yarn, and each 4oz skein of yarn is a generous 440 yards.

We’ve created 5 perfect pairings, with each color named for Shakepearean lovers. Or, choose our vibrant color honoring the bard himself! Use your favorite one on its own or mix and match if you dare. These limited edition colors are sure to sell out quickly, so get yours while you can!

Halloween is nearly here and I couldn’t be more excited! All through October I’ll be sending out 20g mini Sock Yarn Spiders as a free treat with any order over £40 (not including shipping). Qualifying orders can be comprised of anything form the shop, yarn, patterns, notions, etc.

Plenty of spooky colourways and haunting notions to treat yourself with. Pick up a Zombie Breath or Frankie on Fire single stranded sock blank for some speckled delight. Or fancy something UV responsive? Try a set of my UV Heels and Toes mini skein packs or a Sock Yarn Spider for glowing black light fun. Decorate your projects with some fun Day of the Dead Skull or Zombie stitch markers.

This new design came about in a convoluted way. The yarn came first. I chose these two colors of Anzula’s new yarn, Gerty, at the summer TNNA trade show in June. The yarn was earmarked for a design to be released during September when Gerty was going to ship to yarn stores. The yarn came home, and it sat on my desk because I didn’t know what to do with it. I could always do a shawl, but I really didn’t want to do a shawl. The pattern name came next. I was struggling to name a new, still unreleased pattern and was bouncing ideas off my sister. She suggested Elakala, which was all wrong for that design but was definitely a great pattern name. I couldn’t get the name out of my head and went about looking for a way to use Elakala as the design inspiration.

The Elakala Falls are part of the Blackwater Falls State Park in West Virginia, and this design is inspired by waterfalls. Two motifs, one small and one large, create swirling, falling patterns. After working the first two charts, the motifs are inverted in color and in orientation for the second half of the cowl, creating almost a mirror image. The colorwork is fun to work and works up beautifully in Anzula Gerty.

The pattern takes 210 yards of each color and is worked on US 3 (3.25 mm) needles.

The pattern is now available on Ravelry. From now until Tuesday, October 3, the pattern is 20% off with the coupon code ‘gogogerty.’

Are you a fan of the hit TV show Reign? I have been truly crushed that this show was cancelled and know you have been too. I for one have been binge watching it on Netflix with no shame! Oh the intrigue, the lust, scandal! Traumatized that the show is no longer airing, I was thinking what fun it would be to have a monthly yarn club with colorways inspired from the show. Nothing like knitting up an inspired colorway while watching your favorite episodes over and over! Are you ready to Reign?

This monthly subscription will open up for new subscriptions for the last 2 weeks of the previous month. Once you purchase a subscription, you’re in and don’t have to re-purchase every month! You can cancel at any time. But let’s be honest — you won’t want to!

You can choose your base but the colorway will be a surprise! They will be inspired by each of the more popular characters. Queen Mary (of course), King Francis, Queen Catherine, Bash…oh the possibilities! The costumes on the show are so rich and luxurious and these yarns will remind you of each character as you knit them up.

October’s colorway will be inspired by Queen Mary and sign-ups close September 30 at midnight so hurry! I have a limited number of spots available and they’re filling up fast. Go here to save your spot!

If you still need convincing, each club member will be entered to win this set of 5 mini skeins inspired by the show! Each skein is 20g/92 yards of fingering weight 75/25 merino/nylon. The regally beautiful colors will add that special touch to your next project! The winner will be announced October 5 and receive the set in their October shipment.
