We’ve got a new base yarn up in our Etsy Shop this week.
It’s a yarn with exquisite drape. It also holds its shape so that every stitch in a lace pattern is distinct. And, it cables beautifully. This yarn does it all. I’ve enjoyed test knitting with this yarn as much as any base I’ve ever knit with.
Yak Silk DK. 65% Superwash Merino, 20% Silk, and 15% Yak. Each skein has 231 yards of lovely, plump yarn.
The special colorways I’ve created for base yarns with Yak fiber all coordinate beautifully. Knit with them separately or together. Knit a hat or some fingerless mitts in a single color or combine two or more for a shawl. This yarn will knit up at a true DK weight and it’s a pleasure to knit with.

Sue and Chelsea came together to create a line of hand-dyed yarns inspired by popular television shows, movies and more. They started this adventure with their YouTube podcast LegacyKnitz and quickly decided they wanted to be more involved in the loving commuKNITy they found themselves in. It is the mission of Legacy Fiber Artz to spread love through commuKNITy and creativity.
With Pointed Sticks Yarn’s most recent shop update featured a new line up of colors, and a new luxury base: Fountain Pen. Fountain pens are the height of luxury when it comes to writing tools. They write smoothly, and are frequently collectors’ items. This fingering base has a similar feel. This plush 3-ply yarn is composed of 70% Superwash Merino, 20% silk and 10% Cashmere, giving it a gorgeous sheen and an unbelievable softness.

My favorite movie growing up was The Sound of Music. Every afternoon after school I would watch it from the beginning until it was time for dinner. So I’ve created a surprise yarn club full of gorgeous yarns inspired by the movie and other little secret goodies!
Every month you can choose the base and how many skeins you want, but the colorway will be a surprise! The colorway may be a semi-solid, variegated, speckled….who knows?! That’s the fun part! I will provide a picture that will inspire my creation so that you kinda get an idea of what you’ll be getting.
