This gorgeous yarn (Nebula from Anzula) sparkles like the night skies, so when looking for a name for the pattern, I originally looked toward the skies, at the innumerable things in our solar system and the distant reaches of space. It occurred to me suddenly that the sky isn’t the only thing that sparkles at night. Millions of tiny little lights glimmer in our seas, too. One of my favorite things to do when SCUBA diving at night is to turn out my light, and in the total darkness wave my arm through the water. The thousands tiny creatures living there, normally invisible to the naked eye, sparkle in return. It’s breathtakingly beautiful.
The construction of this shawl is simple: it’s knit from the lace edge up, then shaped into a crescent with garter stitch short rows. However, eight of the wrong-side rows include lace manipulations. These wrong-side lace rows aren’t too bad to do, but make sure you count right!

We’re having a small update today, featuring some yarn that will work perfectly for your summer holiday knitting.
We have the super shiny BFL/silk fingering (Steel, Alpine lake, Misty mountain and Orchid), the summery Baby alpaca/silk/linen (Olive, Blueberry, Cloudy Sky) which is a very special yarn, with the softness of the baby alpaca, the shine of the silk, and the extra drape, and the tweedy effect, given by the linen. I’ve kept two skeins for me to knit a Jessie’s Girl, there are just few skeins available, so hurry to grab yours.
We also have lace yarns in various bases and colorways, and many sock yarns for all your need and fancy, there are variegated colourways, semisolid and tonal colorways, and different yarn bases.

Summer is in full swing and I’ve recently added a bunch of fun-in-the-sun lotion bar scents to the shop! I’ve re-stocked some old favorites and created some new ones, so you have plenty of choices with which to get your lanolin-infused moisturizing on. Recent updates include:
Coconut Lime – sweet, bright, citrus, warm, zesty, tropical.
Down by the Bay – leafy, bright, tangy, herbal, earthy, masculine, salty.
Peaches & Cream – sweet, tangy, creamy, southern summer, delicious.
Smoky Patchouli – earthy, warm, smoky, musky, ohm.
Summer Fields – lightly floral, summertime, sunshine, fresh cut grass.
Both Summer Fields and Peaches & Cream are also available in handmade soap! The Peaches & Cream soap consists of a peach-tinted goat milk soap base in an adorable sheep-shaped mold, while the Summer Fields soap features slivers of Lavender & Vanilla soap embedded in a soothing green aloe vera gel base. I’ve been using the Summer Fields soap myself and am cheered up every morning by its refreshing, summery scent.

Invictus Yarns is thrilled to have our first booth at Stitches MidWest this year! (okay, so we’re kind of nervous, too, but mostly thrilled.) The show is August 6-9 in Schaumburg, IL, so the yarn will be making a nice jaunt across the country. You may notice that the shop will be really low on merchandise starting around July 27 to make sure that it has plenty of time to get to the convention center and get ready to meet you. I’ll have things back up and running as soon as things come back home after the event.
If you’re going to be attending, please stop by booth 829, say hello and maybe even swap a stitch marker! We’ll have a bit of everything for you to see in person and a special limited edition colorway, too! Heartland will be available on several bases at the show but will not be redyed for the shop afterward, so be sure to pick it up while you’re there.
