Kim Dyes Yarn is excited to share the newest colorway, Ziggy Stardust. Ziggy Stardust is a pink tinged gray overdyed with speckles of bright blue, teal, and hot pink — understated and overstated at the same time.

There is Ziggy Stardust instock at the Etsy store on our lovely springy and soft superwash Merino DK. However, if you need Ziggy Stardust on another yarn, feel free to contact Kim for a custom order.

I am so excited to have come across this wonderful community and marketplace. I’m looking forward to enjoying the offerings here, and to share my own!

Hi there! I’m Sarah, the artist behind Creature Comfort Craftworks. After a move that took me away from the dyepots for a time, I’m back at it and enjoying the heck out of playing with color, fiber and yarns again. Slowly but surely, the inventory is trickling in again and I can only hope good things are in store, not only for me, but for all of us.

Most recently, I have been adding gradient palette sets to my shop. These are four and five mini-skein sets that, if knit or worked together in a project are sure to add some color love to the finished whatever-it-might-be.

Thank you for looking!

Happy Friday! Our latest, greatest Outlander-inspired project kit has just been added to our online store: the Blood of my Blood Shawl by MarlyBird! It’s knit with our ultra-luxurious yak & silk blend laceweight yarn, Shangri-La, and we think it’s Jamie-approved for your next project. It won’t be long til Outlander returns to the TV airwaves, so make sure you’re ready with this exciting new shawl; retailing for $56, you’ll save over 15% when you purchase the yarn and pattern together in this convenient kit!

C. Whitney Knits and I are collaborating this spring! I’m hosting the Unlikely Friends KAL in my Ravelry group, Heather Anderson Designs, from April 1-May 15, 2015. This KAL features my two new shawl designs, the Fishtales Shawl and the Shoalmates Shawl. These shawls are suitable for beginners as well as experienced knitters. They can be (and have been) knit in multiple yarn weights, with multiple colors (including variegates), and with or without beads. They are quick knits and make great gifts to stash away for the holidays!

C. Whitney Knits has developed five exclusive colorways to complement this unlikely pairing of shawls: Nemo, Poseidon, Unlikely Friends, Mermaid Lagoon, and Loch Ness. Each colorway is available in a variety of bases and will be retired when this KAL ends.

We hope you’ll join us in the knitting fun!

Heather

The Sidere shawl kit is the perfect gift for the knitter in your life. Or, treat yourself with a ready-to-knit project!

This kit comes complete with a PDF copy of accomplished pattern designer Hilary Smith Callis’s lacy shawl pattern, Sidere, as well as one skein of silky soft Luna Grey Fiber Arts hand dyed Starbright yarn in your choice of colorway (color shown: Radiant Orchid). This is an intermediate level pattern.

In the designer’s words… “Sidere (Latin for starlight) is a lightweight asymmetrical shawl. Knit from the top down beginning with just a few stitches, Sidere’s crescent shape is created with increases placed in every row and its asymmetry is the result of short rows worked in stockinette stitch between bands of a very simple textured stitch pattern. The stitch pattern gives this airy piece a great deal of surface texture that resembles sparkling stars converging on one end of the shawl, and a picot bind off echoes the same texture at the edge.”

Finished Measurements:
Length of top, straight edge: 78”/ 198 cm
Height at thickest part of center: 18.5”/ 47 cm

ColorPurl plays on the natural beauty of pearls, the endless possibilities of color, and the knitter’s pure love of two little stitches: knit and purl.

Thank you so much for looking. I hope to have the opportunity to delight you with yarny goodness as much as I am thrilled with the creative process to bring it to you.

Many of you know me from my Etsy Shop, “The Knitting Artist,” but did you know I also have designs on Ravelry?

I have been designing off and on for a few years now, and have several sock patterns, as well as multiple others on my Ravelry shop. The latest addition is “Midnight Surf,” a pair I designed when I decided to challenge myself to only make socks I design myself this year. The pair in particular utilizes a DK weight yarn with a flowing lace pattern. I chose this pattern because it reminded me of waves and the beach, and the blues in this yarn were perfect for an oceany themed design. Knit from the toe up with a standard gusset and triangle heel, these are a really quick and simple knit.

I hope that you enjoy knitting these socks as much as I did!

I’ve been known to run the odd naming contest on my blog when I cannot come up with a good pattern name on my own. I did that recently for this cowl design. Because the stitch is patterned from an architectural feature, the graceful ogee, I wanted a name related to a specific building, region, or even a tile design, something directly related to the motif. A creative knitter suggested that I name this design not after the All Saints church in London — the church is filled with ogees, arches, and other stunning architectural details — but rather after the street where it is found, Margaret Street.

Cowl is knit in the round from one end straight through to the other. The lace is easy to do, especially once you find your rhythm, and is very pleasing. I’ve provided four different sizing options, but many more are possible by simply changing the number of times the motif is worked in a circle, and how many times the rows are worked.

Our next kit is live! Glenna’s Cowl by Marly Bird is now available in our online store and will also be making its debut at the DFW Fiber Fest this weekend (we’re in booths 85 & 86!).

This cabled cowl is an instant classic, and it’s knit in Skye, one of our hand-dyed Outlandish colorways in our Himalayan Trail base. It’s a great way to count down the days til Jamie and Claire return to our lives in April! Retailing for $56, you’ll save over 15% when you purchase the yarn and pattern together in this convenient kit.
