Have you ever wondered what goes into creating a certain color with natural dyes? Now you can find out! Join us on a journey to create the Mythical Blue-Red. It’s the color of dragons, the color of crushed velvet, a sensual deep red. We’ll explore different dyes and mordants in search of the perfect recipe.

Club members receive mini-skeins of 6 or 8 colors, a detailed explanation of the dye process, and the final recipes for each color. We’ll also include ideas for multi-color projects that you can make with the mini-skeins. What if a color really speaks to you and you want a full skein? Or enough full skeins to make a sweater? After you receive your club shipment, you also have a month in which you can order full skeins of any of the club colors for 20% off.

There are only a few spots left — visit our website to get yours! We also have a few yarns on 50% off clearance — it’s a great time to try some Corriedale, Rambouillet, or Small Farm Alpaca!

It’s finally fall, leaves are changing, there is a crispness in the air, kids are back to school and June Pryce has added a new product to its already overflowing shop. Beavertail is a lovely 3-ply DK weight yarn of 85% Polwarth wool and 15% Silk. It has a wonderful hand, great stitch definition and is soft enough for next to the skin projects. While the shop has offered this DK base in full sized skeins, the Dyenamic Dyestress has decided that sock weight lovers should not get all of the fun and has begun dyeing the Beavertail into mini skein sets of its own — 600 yards (100 yards per mini) of gloriously colored sets.

Looking for ombre? No problem, check out “A Latte to Espresso” a gradient dye of warm browns.

Need color? Great! Try “Plum Orchid,” a comprehensive set starting at a medium pink and ending in a ripe plum.

Crisp air needs crisp colors? How about “Arctic Ice?” It’s a cool gradient of dark cerulean that slowly gets paler until it ends in just a whisper of crisp color.

No matter what you are looking for you will find it with June Pryce Fiber Arts. They will feed your fiber (or yarn) fetish!

I love dyeing gradients! Yes, it takes a little longer, but I love the final effect. I usually can’t wait to start braiding the dry and fluffy wool and my first instinct is always to twist the braid into a roll to see the different color gradations. Well, this time I decided to do my first September update with a few gradients using a couple of different fiber bases. I included a Domestic Rambouillet which is a wonderful and soft wool that has been sourced and processed here in the US and a Polwarth Top. I hope you visit my shop and see what I have available!

It’s getting on to the cooler weather here on the East Coast and it is beginning to show in our products. The time is now to begin to think about our fall/winter spinning projects. While the elements may be nasty and blowing outside you can sit in your warm, comfy home spinning up dream yarns. To help with that we have a new base at June Pryce. It is a lovely 80% ecru Merino and 20% black Tussah silk. This stuff is gorgeous soft and silky. It will spin up both a worsted or a woolen yarn to “dye” for. The two tone base adds a depth and richness to the colorway that you can not get with dye alone. We have tested out this new base on three of our favorite shop colorways to a great response. Keep an eye out for more exciting colorways on this fantastic base.

Happy Spinning!

Bijou Basin Ranch and Miss Babs have teamed up to bring you two gorgeous limited-edition colorways on our Tibetan Dream sock yarn base. The creative color experts from Miss Babs have dreamed up two knitworthy variegated colors for fall knitting: Seaside and Autumn.

Each skein of Tibetan Dream yarn has 440 yards, enough to knit a pair of socks or a fingering-weight shawl. The soft and durable blend of 85% pure yak and 15% nylon perfectly shows off the striking colors created by the folks at Miss Babs. These limited-edition skeins are must-have for fans of luxury yarn and indie dyers!

Both exclusive colors are available in our online store while supplies last, and we will also have a limited number of skeins available at our upcoming events (see our calendar for more details). They are sure to sell out fast, so grab yours today!

I am super excited about my recent collaboration with the brilliantly talented knitwear designer Natalie Pelykh. Natalie created a stunning, intricately cabled hat using Luna Grey Altair yarn. Altair is a unique blend of soft superwash Merino, Tencel and nylon. It’s smooth texture accentuates cable work beautifully.

Natalie and I decided to offer her Fanciful Flower hat pattern as a project kit in my shop. Kits make a perfect gift for the knitter in your life. Or, treat yourself with a ready-to-knit project! This is an intermediate level pattern suitable for knitters who are comfortable knitting detailed cable work. The hat is sized from child to adult.

When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls; Whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still – that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!

What is the Bag of the Month? The bag of the month was created to allow SSS to specialty fabrics for our favorite fandoms. Specialty fabric printing is pricey, so there is an additional cost to this, it comes out to about $5-$7 extra a bag. These are super limited. As of yet we have not reprinted a fabric, so once it is gone, you may never see it again! Buying anything in the limited fabrics DOES NOT obligate you to any future purchases Note: All bag of the month clubs are inspired by the subject for which they are named. We use either our own artwork, or that of indie artists all over the world to create a unique take on all kinds of fandoms.

If you would like to see what we have done with other clubs and the feedback available please come check out my Ravelry fan page where you can post about your Slipped Stitch Studios experiences, and read about all the great things to come!

As August comes to a close and autumn draws near, I’ve been very busy over at Sweet Sheep preparing all sorts of fun fall scents for my super moisturizing, lanolin-containing lotion bars. To make room for cozy spicy things like Apple Butter and Pumpkin Spice, the spring and summer scents must go! The following lotion bar scents are on sale for 25% off:

Carnation
Coconut Lime
Chipotle Caramel
Fresh Mango
Honey Beeswax
Sea Moss
Spring Meadow

Once these scents sell out, they won’t be re-stocked until next year. (Have no fear, however: you can always request a bar through a custom order.) The bars have a very long shelf life (up to 2 years) due to their lack of water and the stable, anti-oxidant oils I use in my recipe. This means that if you purchase a summer-scented bar now, it will still be fine to use next time the warmer weather comes around!

Also, a small PSA: as of September 1st I will be raising prices by approx. 5% to more adequately cover my costs. So now’s the time to grab your bar or lip balm at their current prices!
