I don’t know about you, but as the thermometer continues to threaten to burst from the heat, I’m longing for cooler weather and thinking about all of those accessories on my autumn knitting list. So, in that vein, new color ways in 100% pure Peruvian wool (worsted weight) have begun arriving in the Cedar Hill Farm Company Etsy shop.

These eye-popping hanks (Flock label) are 195 yards (178 m) and weigh in at 3.6 oz (102 g). Thick, squishy, and bursting with kettle-dyed color, these pure wool hanks won’t hang around long. These hanks are dyed in uniform dye lots, so each new color way listing is for dyed-to-match color ways (slight variation in color pattern due to the kettle dying process may be present). And since I’m dreaming of frosty evenings, I’ve worked up a new worsted weight hat & cowl pattern for this label that will be hitting the Cedar Hill Farm Company Ravelry shop in the next week or two: the Whitby Place Hat & Cowl. So, be on the look-out!

Also new to the Cedar Hill Farm Company Etsy shop are sumptuous new hanks of DK weight extra fine alpaca (Cielo DK label) in never-before-dyed color ways. This DK weight alpaca is my favorite go-to yarn for fingerless gloves and baby sweaters. Each hank is 230 yards (210 m) and weighs in at 3.6 oz (102 g). One hank is usually enough for a classically beautiful pair of cabled gloves (like my Elegy Fingerless Mitts, available on Etsy and Ravelry). Most basic infant sweater patterns can also be accomplished with just one hank.

So if you are dreaming of cooler weather and all of those snuggly, warm things that you’ve been waiting all summer to knit, stop by Cedar Hill Farm Company for a little look-see. Who knows, you might just fall in love!

We are so excited to have paired with accomplished pattern designer Hilary Smith Callis to create a fun-to-knit project kit. Luna Viridis is a deeply textured cowl worked up in Luna Grey Fiber Arts Celeste yarn. It begins as a semi-circular shawl with a Stockinette Stitch center worked flat, and is then joined and worked in the round to create a circular piece that mimics a shawlette wrapped around the neck. Little green crescent moons adorn the cowl, encircling the majority of it, and are separated by simple bands of Garter Stitch. Using just one skein of a pretty sock yarn, this is a fun knit, and a great way to add a pop of color and texture to any outfit.

The kit, available here, comes complete with a PDF file of Hilary’s detailed Luna Viridis cowl pattern as well as one skein of Luna Grey Fiber Arts Celeste yarn in your colorway of choice.

We’ve added some bling to the shop!! 100% nylon Firestar is ideal for blending with other fibers to add a little sparkle and strength to your spinning projects, such as in sock heels and toes. It can also be spun alone! It can be carded to blend, added to batts or spun and plied with another strand of wool, etc. While nylon will not felt by itself, you can add a bit to your felting projects to get that needed shine. Pretty and versatile, who knew?

We have put together mixed batches of Firestar to allow for more creative freedom. Are you a Diva? Cowgirl? Nature Lover? Surfer? We have a set for you! Stop by and take a look.

Hello, it’s a bit of a bumper update from me again. There’s a nice mixture of Adventure Time, Final Fantasy and some limited edition Halloween yarns to be added.

So, let’s start with the Adventure Time yarns. They almost round off the entire collection. To begin with I’ve dyed up another skein of Lady Rainicorn. I’ve had a few custom orders for this colourway, and last time it was for general purchase it sold very quickly. So, if you want it – get to the shop! There’s also two new yarns joining the flock – how could I do an AT series without the two most righteous dudes, it’s FINN and JAKE!

Jake is a totally gown-up blend of mustardy yellow, black and white and would make tops bloopy socks for anyone. While Finn is a bright, energetic blend of greens, blues and white, so you can match the sartorial choices of the lumping coolest human ever.

Now, let’s move on to the Halloween yarns! There are three on the Unicorn Sock base, and three on the Cait Sith DK base (which is a lovely plumpcious Jacob wool).

First, let’s talk about my inspiration. Clearly the coolest witches in Halloween history – the Sanderson sisters!

Are you a Winnie, Mary or a Sarah? Winnie is a blend of greens and blues all topped off with a carrotty orange – just like her hair! Mary is a witchy blend of red, brown, purple are orange – understated but punchy, like the lady herself! Sister Sarah is a ladylike blend of purples and pinks – rocking the perfect eerie-girly combo, and is also available in DK weight.

Also on the DK base are No Nicer Witch Than You (a candy-spattered mix of white, pink, purple and turquoise) and The Black Flame Candle (a bewitching brew of white, black, orange and purple).

And last, but not least is a very special yarn. I’m a really dedicated Final Fantasy fan – and I’ve become absolutely obsessed with FF XIV recently. So, I knew what the Moonfire Faire special event began I KNEW I had to make a special yarn.

Throughout August 14 and September 8 I will be stocking the shop with very special OOAK skeins inspired by the festival. If you like one, be sure to grab it, because these skeins will not be replicated.

So, the update is tomorrow – August 18 at 7pm (BST), I hope to see you there!

The collaboration between Indie Untangled and That Clever Clementine continues, and for this round we’ve come out with some new ways for you to tote around your WIPs and show your “indie love.”

Along with the original Snapdragon notions pouches (also great for holding socks!) and Belle drawstring bags, there are some bigger bags with double fabric drawstrings: the Pandora Poke is 11″ wide and 11″ tall, the Cindy Sue I is 13″ x 13″ and the Cindy Sue II is a generous 15″ x 15″. Also new are unbreakable, super portable and reversible fabric yarn bowls, which will make great craft room decor.

We’ve gone with some fun new accent fabric that I think reflects the IU logo really well. You can order as many items as you want this time (be sure to take a look at the new shipping charts) and they will be made to order in a couple of weeks. If fabric runs out, we’ll still fulfill your order, but it will take just a bit longer.

Inspired by a recent trip to the beaches of Southern California, I created our newest colorway, Sea Glass – A cool combination of soft aqua and pale lime green.

I will be dyeing this beautiful colorway onto most of my base yarns in the coming weeks. However, if you need a particular base yarn dyed up in this colorway and do not see that it is currently available, just let me know. I’d be happy to create a custom listing for you!

Sea Glass is available exclusively on our new website, lunagreyfiberarts.com.

Much Love,
Jackie

Part Two — September’s kit will feature a skein of lush MCN yarn in the “Highland Heather” colorway as well as a set of stitch markers created by K8erpiller that will show off each book in a very special way. The yarn is 4-ply, made of 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere and 10% nylon. There are approximately 430 yards in each 100-gram skein.

Part Three — The October kit will feature a pattern and a skein of grey nubby yarn to keep you warm while waiting for the second in the Outlander series to be released on Starz.

What makes this an UN-CLUB? Each kit is separate. You will have two weeks to pre-order the kit and I will only be making enough of each kit to cover what has been ordered. You will have an exclusive to this kit colorway that will not be released again through us. The listing for September goes up over the weekend and will close August 30th. If you would like to order all three I will ship free within the U.S. Each part will be vary slightly in price, depending on the bonus that is included.

I’ve been incredibly busy in the dyeing kitchen (aka…my kitchen) over the past week cooking up some new colourways, as well as re-dyeing old favourites and working on commissions. I have to tell you the hot British summertime is not conducive to dyeing yarn! The heat is both unexpected and unwanted — though it does mean I can dry the skeins naturally in the Yorkshire sunshine while I sip iced tea and watch the birds at my feeders in the garden.

As well as dyeing, I’ve been squirrelling away at something else — which I’m really excited to tell you about — but will have to wait for when I don’t have lots of new yarns and scrummy pictures to show you!

So without further ado… the yarn!

I was working on the remaining colourways for the Tokyo Mew Mew series I introduced recently, when it occurred to me that it just wasn’t right not to have all five Mew Mews together. The feeling grew in me, and I felt so uncomfortable splitting them up that I re-dyed the Mint colourway (which sold pretty quickly last time) so that I wouldn’t be keeping them apart. So that means I have a whole set of five up for grabs at the moment. There’s Ichigo, a summery blend of pinks, red and white, which I shared in my last update post, and Mint, a rich blend of purple, turquoise and blue and the new colours…

Lettuce is a blend of lime green, leaf green, white and pink. I absolutely LOVE this combination. When I was growing up my mum always told me “pink and green should never be seen,” but I think this yarn disproves the rhyme completely. The pink adds a lovely summery punch.

Pudding is a really cheerful blend of oranges, corals and yellow. Proud and punchy like the adorable little creature herself. This skein took a lot of blending, but I really like how sunny it is.

Zakuro is a sophisticated mix of purples, pink, white and brown. Strong and eye-catching, just like Zakuro the Mew Mew.

As well as completing the Mew Mew series I’ve added a new colourway in the Adventure Time series. It’s everyone’s favourite Korean unicorn — Lady Rainicorn! A hot blend of rainbow and pinks — I like to think that the Lady would it!

Finally Team Rainbow has been restocked. I’ve added three skeins this time, so if you want to make a larger project you can do. It would make a wonderful, bright shawl!

The shop update will be Friday evening, UK time. I hope to see you there!

Summer is in full swing now, and what better time to curl up with a good book and your latest WIP. Our newest Bag of the Month fabric is perfect for the literary lover trapped in a fiber artist’s body! This fabric is original and bright, and is sure to help speed along your UFOs just from the sheer joy of getting to cart it around in your new Alice bag!

July sped by and it is now August, time really does fly. I was so caught up in different things last month, that I never got a chance to have a Button Set of the Month, so for August we’ll have two! ; ) Mommy picked this month’s special sets and they will be the last of the bright, “summer” buttons on sale for a little while now.

One of the sets is brand new and the other has been around for a while! The Bella buttons are a set of 2 ~ 1″ buttons, I have a few colors listed in the shop but they can be ordered in any color using the handy color chart, just check out as normal and leave me a comment if you want the color changed! Or if you would like pictures first just let me know, & I’ll be happy to make them up for you!
The Bella buttons are only $2.50 for a set of 2!

The second set is very new, and just listed in the shop, the Gradient Flower Buttons. I’ve only done them in pink so far, but I’m hoping to have more color schemes for you to see soon. I think they would look really pretty in different shades of a pearly aqua/teal color. Anyway, they are a set of 5 ~ 3/4″ buttons! Sale price… $6!

And lastly, I wanted to show you a fun button I made recently! The first are about an inch in size and would make for a great embellishment! Bumble bees! And the others an aqua and pearl flower button set! I love these. ; )

Thank you all so much for looking, have a wonderful day! ~ Hannah
