There are so many amazing new patterns using boucle yarn! We’ve brought Boucle DK back for cozy season. The first 20 Dyed to Order orders will ship within a week!

I can’t wait to cast on for Samantha Guerin’s new Superlative Sweater. It uses a combo of Boucle DK and Merino DK.

Our boucle is a DK-weight yarn. It is 100% Superwash Merino. 100g = 240yds. It is super squishy!.

We’ve dyed up a few of our most popular tonals as samples. Rather than guess what color you want and how many skeins you need, I’m going to leave that up to you! Visit our Dyed to Order (DTO) page and customize your order! If you’re interested in the Superlative Sweater as well, you can get the Boucle and Merino DK to match. While hand dyed yarns lend themselves to a bit of variation, I want you to have the best sweater quantity by dying the skeins all at once!

We also have plenty of Oopsie Sets left to choose from. They are highly discounted and great for gift knitting. They are one-of-a-kind, so get what you like before it’s gone!

Happy October! With Halloween being this month, of course we had to do a Halloween-themed shirt for the Knit Stitch Tee!

This purple yarn skull shirt will give you all the knitting vibes you need while staying on theme at all those parties and holiday activities!

Shirts are available in sizes XS-5X! Get one for yourself and a friend to share all the spooky fun this month has in store!

I found the most amazing eco-friendly screen printer who prints it all the old fashioned way — by hand! It’s a one-person shop, so when you are buying you are supporting two women owned small businesses!!

This updated unisex essential fits like a well-loved favorite, featuring a crew neck, short sleeves and designed with superior combed and ring-spun cotton.

Preorders are about to close for this very limited heritage breed blend! You can choose between these cool and warm palettes until MONDAY, October 9th. Reserve your kit in any of the dyers’ shops (listed below). We’re grateful to be sharing this unique project with you, while also taking the opportunity to advocate for this special breed. This box will never be crafted or offered again.

The story behind this blend:
Four independent Colorado yarn-dyers (Bad Lux Designs, The Conifer Collective, Huck & Rae Fiber Studio, and Spindrift Fiber Boutique) partnered to source and develop a unique blend of heritage wools from our region. Working with local shepherds at Cedar Mesa Ranch who care for Navajo Churro sheep (a heritage breed), as well as a local mill for spinning, each dyer carefully hand dyed a skein to craft a coordinating five-skein tonal color palette for this collaboration. One skein in each palette has been left in its natural state — beautifully un-dyed so that you may experience the pure joy of this exclusive blend. As wool lovers first and foremost, we have learned that the best way to save endangered sheep breeds is to give them a job — So let’s put this wool to work!

Inside your special five-skein box, you will encounter a one-of-a-kind blend of heritage breed wools.:

FIBER: 15% Navajo Churro / 20% alpaca / 65% Bluefaced Leicester
BASE: 2-ply, thick & thin weight (averaging DK throughout)
LENGTH: 5 skeins, each skein is approx. 125 yds = Approx 625yds total
COLORS: Boxes are available in warm or cool-toned palettes

Quantities are VERY limited. So please don’t hesitate if this special Colorado-made collaboration sounds like something you’d love!

Step into the heartwarming world of Eagle Bend Alpaca Farm with the All Breeds Cowl – a mosaic knit cowl that draws inspiration from the idyllic landscape and the captivating creatures living in perfect synchrony in Burlington, Kentucky. This unique cowl design is a loving tribute to 40 show-quality alpacas and award-winning Cormo sheep that roam 52 acres of peak Bluegrass beauty, where rolling hills meet pastoral landscapes, and friendships flourish.

I designed this cowl as a skill-building pattern for the confident advanced beginner looking to expand their skills, or an interesting project for an intermediate knitter. The geometric sheep design is created with mosaic knitting — a way to create a colorwork pattern while holding only one yarn at a time. Working in stockinette stitch in the round, you’ll only need to knit & slip stitches.

The mosaic stitch pattern reflects the harmonious existence of the alpacas and sheep, their unique fibers intricately woven together, just like the bond they share at Eagle Bend Farm. The All Breeds Cowl is more than just an accessory; it’s a tangible connection to the heart and soul of a remarkable farm and its inhabitants. Wrap yourself in the embrace of the alpaca’s softness and the Cormo sheep’s woolly warmth. As you knit this cowl, cherish the harmony that nature so effortlessly weaves into our lives.

We have had a busy few weeks at ECY Shedquarters in the run-up to Yarndale this past weekend. It was lovely to meet so many yarnie friends new and old. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and to squish and buy from us. We took lots of yarn with us and we have finally managed to get all that was left afterwards photographed and on the website. We have added Brimham Bio Bingering, Brimham 4ply, Brimham DK, Pendle Aran, Bowland 4ply and Bowland DK. Plus a few individual batches of other yarns that are still being added!

Brimham Bio Fingering is our first yarn made with biodegradable nylon mixed with Superwash extrafine Merino. You can read more about this yarn including the biodegradable nylon in this blog post. This yarn is slightly finer than our other fingering weight yarns but can also be used in patterns for fingering-weight yarns as long as you can obtain the correct gauge.

Brimham 4ply and DK are Superwash extrafine Merino with standard nylon making it super soft but also with the durability from the nylon. It is ideal for garments and socks but also soft enough for shawls and accessories.

Bowland 4ply and DK are both 100% Superwash British Bluefaced Leicester yarn. BFL is a fabulous hard-wearing yarn which is very different to Merino. We have even written a blog post comparing the two fibres if you aren’t familiar with them. Read it here. This yarn is great for a really wide range of projects, including accessories and garments. Some may find it fine for socks, but being a pure fine wool, it may not be hardwearing enough for you, so please bear that in mind.

Pendle Aran is buttery soft Superwash extrafine Merino which is squishy and smooth whilst retaining a bouncy and hard wearing quality. It shows off stitch patterns and cable details well, and we love it for knitting as well as crochet. Aran-weight yarns are wonderful to work with as we move into the colder months and will be perfect for winter accessories. We have set the price of our Aran and chunky yarns lower than the finer weights making them more affordable for larger projects.

Apart from the blog posts we have already mentioned, we also have a page detailing all the yarn specific blog posts in one place. and you can find it HERE. Here you will find our Projects and Patterns pages which you can use for inspiration if you aren’t sure what to make with the yarns. We are working to add more of these blog posts all the time so do check the list out occasionally!

Before Yarndale we released a new free crochet pattern. Cloud Cowl by Victoria Magnus is a granny stripe cowl made with Lowther Lace. It has four size options: one, two or three skeins, using one skein of each colour. The fourth size is a Yarnling stripe version using 24 of our 4ply Yarnlings. The pattern is available to download for free on our website, on Payhip and on Ravelry.

LOTS of new Oopsie Sets have been added to the web site!

These would be great for things like gift knitting, colorwork, hats, mittens, socks, cowls, two-color projects, etc. This round I have also included some three-skein sets from the same dye lot for larger projects. There are also a few Silk Sock Full Skein Sets as well as some Suri Silk paired with a complimentary full skein.

Oopsie skeins are OOAK (one-of-a-kind) skeins that generally turned out a bit different from how I intended. There may be a stray speckle, white spot, or often they are just not the color I was going for. The yarn base may also be a base that I have discontinued. The yarn is perfectly good and ready to be worked up in any project! They are all sold as the sets that are shown and are final sale.

Happy making friends!!
