Showing Crafty Flutterby Creations

As I mentioned a few weeks ago during my 3D-printed notions retirement sale, I’ve been hard at work here in the studio developing a new end minder from a natural material. I’m happy to share that after several rounds of iteration (and a few funny outcomes!), my new Suavest Sheep are officially ready for action!

The Hardwood Suavest Sheep are making their grand debut in two beautiful colorways. The first is Beech, a lighter wood with a soft pattern of flecks that brings to mind the whorled coats of our favorite woolly friends. As for the second, well, it follows in the footsteps of my new jewelry line, packing two fabulous functions into one fine notion! These darker sheep are laser-etched from cedar, a wood known for its moth-repelling superpowers.

What better sidekick could you have for your cast-ons?

See these sheep and other endminder friends in person at our booth at the Michigan Sheep and Wool Festival August 18th-20th.

I’m delighted to announce my new jewelry line! Many of the pieces in today’s debut collection serve a double purpose of providing adornment and helping us in our favorite fiber arts. As you know, I love working with natural materials, so each piece has been lovingly-crafted from hardwoods like beech, walnut, cedar, and more.

First, we have the Butterfly Trio Earrings. Each charm shines on a different hardwood, with the unique grain patterns of Walnut, Beech, and Cedar lending stunning details to their wings. All my earrings are lead and nickel free for easy wear and gifting!

Those same butterflies take on even more forms in my Butterfly Stitch Markers Mixed Hardwoods Set. Each includes six markers in three sizes, with options for both knit and crochet. Your set could include Beech, Cherry, Red Cedar, Canarywood, Curly Maple, Lacewood, Red Oak, Mahogany, and even Purpleheart!

Last but certainly not least, we have my Butterfly Necklace with Detachable Stitch Markers. I love this piece so much! Beyond being a cute accessory for summer, its fringe of tiny flutterbies is ready to fly off your necklace and onto your projects as stitch markers.

It’s an excellent option for knitters on the go and is easily expanded with extra sets of stitch markers! Which piece is your favorite so far?

If you follow me on social media, you already know that I’ve been busy in the studio developing some new notions. As I prepare to take this leap into a new age of nifty notions, the time has come to say goodbye to my 3D-printed collection.

To turn this bittersweet moment into a sweet celebration, I’ve added event-exclusive sets, special edition designs, and new options for those new to end minders. To top it all off, all 3D-printed notions are 20% off with no code needed!

If you’re new to my notions and wondering, “What on earth is an end minder?” I have just the treat for you.

My Imperfect End Minder packs are offered at deep discounts due to their minor cosmetic issues. They’ll work just as hard to help out, they just march to the beat of a different drum. As a quick introduction, these fiber art friends come in handy for tidying your cast on end, taming yarn joins mid-project, creating an easy-to-carry color swatch, displaying leftovers of your favorite yarn, and holding a healthy helping of repair yarn as a cute companion for your gift knits!

While my end minders are probably the most popular notions in my shop, my unique stitch marker sets come in at a close second! As part of this close-out celebration, I’ve blended two seasonal favorites into this Autumn Rain set. With colorful leaves and glittering raindrops, it’s sure to add a cozy touch to your next cast-on. Of course, I’m best known for my love of butterflies! These Butterfly Detachable Stitch Markers & Progress Keepers fly off the shelves due to their uncanny knack to help out on both knit and crochet projects.

Worry not, updated end minders and new stitch markers will return soon made from new material.

We’ve welcomed a new high-tech helper into the studio this week, and can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on together! Along with a cute collection of shawl cuffs, we’ve been experimenting with a new line of hair and shawl pins. Each of these new additions is made from cork, an eco-friendly vegan alternative to leather. Our cork is, lightweight, washable, and has just the right blend of stiffness, flexibility, and a hint of stretchiness.

Of course, you know that I had to see how my new helper could handle my beloved butterflies! These shawl or hair pins come in two sizes and two colors. The pearl is so soft and ephemeral, with just a hint of shimmer, while the natural has playful flecks of metallic sparkle dancing throughout.

Since my community has long shown a preference for Celtic-inspired styles, my next test was to try out some Triquetras. I love how the knotwork shines in high contrast against the pearl, or with more subtle paths against a natural backdrop.

Each Crafty Catch Phrase Shawl Cuff comes emblazoned with a wearable reminder of your choice. I’ve selected a few of my favorites to start things off. You can also select Your Text Here and we’ll create a one-of-a-kind cuff just for you! What will your catchphrase be?

As the first signs of spring have finally arrived, now seems like an opportune time to welcome a few new flowers, flutterbies, and songbirds to the web store. Speed along your WIPs with a spry set of progress keepers, and pick the perfect pin for styling your sweet spring shawls.

My new Mini shawl pins feature a flower, flutterby, or songbird apiece. These featherlight shawl pins are perfect for lace, fingering, and sport weight projects.

Magnolia, Cherry Blossom, and Harp Charmed styles bring a daydream to mind of elegant afternoon tea in a lush castle garden.

Finally, after a long hibernation, progress keepers are back! My new sets feature flowers, flutterbies, Celtic knots, thistles, birds, and more. They’re joined by a limited restock of several classic sets!

Thank you all for an amazing year! I’d like to share the love with the entire Indie Untangled community with a special discount. Just use code SHOPSMALL2021 to receive a free gift and 25% off your order November 26th-29th! ????

Your support throughout this difficult year has been heartwarming. I wouldn’t be where I am without you. It has been a joy to send each handcrafted shawl pin and carefully crafted end-minder off to its new home, and I can’t wait to see what 2022 brings.

With just one event left for the year, I knew that I wanted to create something special to celebrate. There were plenty of perfectly pretty options on my wishlists with some of my favorite bead vendors, but somehow they just didn’t seem to fit the bill. While I was at Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival, I went wandering (as I often do) and came across a wonderful little button booth sharing vintage designs from decades past. I may have gone a little overboard with my selections, but I just couldn’t resist!

Since we still have a couple of weeks before SAFF arrives, I thought I’d put together a little sneak preview collection for the Indie Untangled community. All of the buttons chosen for this collection come from anywhere between the 1930s and 1980s. From Lovely Lotus to Pinwheel Pearl, each etched mother of pearl button has its own singular shimmering pattern.

Explore these styles and my one-of-a-kind Victorian Button Shawl Pin collection in the Crafty Flutterby booth at SAFF from October 22nd-24th. Which elegant era will you embrace?

With summer flying by and fall just around the corner, I thought that we could all use a little friendly reminder to take it easy once in a while. That’s why I’ve invited our newest limited edition friends, the Sincere Sloths, to join the end minder family

The Sincere Sloths are sure to make you smile as they swing along your stitches. They’ll tame your yarn tails, hold joins secure, and act as a softhearted swatch for handy repairs or easy yarn shopping. Sloths are nature’s advocate for slow living. Each time you use them, I hope you’ll be reminded to take a mindful moment away from the daily hubbub.

Swing over to website or mosey into my booth at a festival to treat yourself before they disappear at the end of September!

The last few months have been so busy that I haven’t had time to really sit down and have a think on our end minder friends. Luckily, I received excellent feedback at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival, which left me feeling inspired for July’s special debut. Without further ado, let’s get to know the Adaptable Alpacas!

These extra fluffy friends await your yarn to make their fleece fabulous. With the soft speckles of marble gray, they’ll easily pair with any shade — no matter how you put them to work.

Keep your ends tidy, store yarn for repairs, tame your joins, or make a handy portable color swatch for your next trip to the local yarn shop!

Each set includes six of these limited edition animals, kept safe and secure in their own crystal corral. The Adaptable Alpacas are prepared for anything, just pop them in your project bag and you’ll always have an ally on hand for tricky stitch-uations.

With the start of summer, I got to thinking about unique ways to celebrate the season. My Twirl design was retired several years ago when the Penannular debuted, but I’ve decided to bring it back in shining silver and bronze with one simple, classic, and elegant accoutrement — the freshwater pearl! If you are a newer member of my community, you might not be familiar with just how this unusual shape works to style your shawls. If that’s the case, I have just the blog post for you. In the spirit of my alliteration-loving nature, it’s entitled Give A Twirl A Whirl. ????

Next, we have a new addition to my Charmed Celtic collection! I chose the Triquetra to expand this crowd-favorite line because of its many meanings, giving each member of our community an opportunity to connect with its infinite design in their own way. Two of my favorite interpretations are that the endless curves represent infinite love or an uninterrupted life, often given as a gift with best wishes for longevity.
