We are honored to introduce a new series of styling tools inspired by the magnificent textile traditions of the Ainu people. The Ainu Spiral Stud Buttons and the Ainu Spiral Latch represent the first installment of a six-part collection rooted in the visual vocabulary of the indigenous people of the northern Japanese archipelago. Traditionally, Ainu women used these motifs in elaborate embroidery and appliqué on Atush robes to protect the wearer from malevolent forces. The spiral form specifically represents gentle, flowing energy, bringing a sense of history and protection to your handmade wardrobe.

Crafted from white brass and genuine leather, these pieces offer incredible versatility for makers. The Ainu Spiral Stud Buttons come in a set of three, each weighing just .1 ounce, making them a lightweight yet striking alternative to pins. For a bolder statement, the Ainu Spiral Latch features a 4-inch leather snap closure (available in Black or Espresso) that utilizes the same spiral design. Notably, the stud button can be temporarily removed from the leather latch to be used on its own, extending the utility of your styling kit.

You can find these new releases online at JULDESIGNS.com or shop them in person at the Long Island Yarn & Farm Booth during Vogue Knitting Live NYC from January 29 to February 1, 2026.

Indie Untangled readers can take 10% off any stud button purchase online at JULDESIGNS.com through 3/31/26! Just enter code NoSewStyle at checkout.

I’ve opened my 10th annual mystery knit-a-long for preorders, and this year’s theme is TV’s Ted Lasso. The pattern is discounted (no code necessary) during the preorder period, and those purchasing at this time will receive a planning sheet with all the yarn details.

My Winter sock set is now available! “Winter Sunrise” is inspired by a cloudless sky at sunrise over the ocean on a snow dusted beach. I’ve paired it with a mini inspired by driftwood. A sunrise means hope, and overcoming darkness, and in these dark days I felt like I needed a little light to help me through the darkness.

This set is what I would call a mini sock set — you get 50g of the main color and 20g of the contrast, which is enough for me to make a pair of socks with about a 5- to 6-inch leg and I wear a woman’s size 11 shoe, so it should be enough for most people to make full-size socks.

Get 25% off the quick and fun Fizzy Hat pattern with code fizzyhat through Jan. 30, 2026.

Fizzy Hat knits up fast using super bulky yarn, with a stitch pattern that lets you use just one color at a time to create a cool mesh overlay effect. The pattern also lets you add a new skill to your knitting repertoire: Learn to knit the optional lateral/Estonian braid with the included photo tutorial and video link.

The pattern was so popular with test knitters that several of them have already made more than one! Grab this happy, satisfying pattern at a discount and be ready to love it just as much as they do.

Sizing for kids and adults included.

Get the Fizzy Hat knitting pattern on my website. It’s also available on Ravelry and on Etsy.

Wednesday, January 28th marks Crafter Gamer Geek’s fourth Anniversary, and I honestly can’t believe how quickly the time has flown. What started as a creative outlet has grown into something deeply meaningful, and I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported, encouraged, and shared in this journey with me.

To celebrate four years of dyeing, dreaming, and creating, I’m releasing several brand-new colorways, including two new gacha sets and a small, cohesive collection of variegated and semisolid yarns inspired by a quiet moment that caught me by surprise.

New Gacha Sets

Gacha sets have become one of my favorite ways to explore color. Each set includes one 115g skein and one 25g mini skein dyed on my 80/20 Superwash Merino wool/nylon base. They’re fantastic for socks or any accessories where a playful blending of colors can take center stage.

The Lightkeeper in the Lantern presents the light and shadow of a swirling storm with a haunting yellow mini skein for some extra drama.

Machine Oil, Metal & Krumkakes feels both mechanical and familiar, blending polished metal tones with splashes of cozy cheerful comfort.

New Individual Variegated & Semisolid Colorways

For this release, I stepped away from my usual inspiration sources of games and anime. Instead, these four colorways were inspired by a photograph of an evening skyline in November, capturing that fleeting moment where daylight fades, colors soften, and everything feels still.

Twilight Into Winter – This variegated colorway captures that quiet transition perfectly. Bright and pale yellows flicker like the last traces of sunlight, while multiple shades of gray settle in like gathering dusk. A muted, wintry blue weaves through it all, cooling the palette and anchoring the warmth. The result is layered, atmospheric, and gently dramatic.

Diminishing – A soft, fading yellow that echoes the final glow of daylight just before it disappears below the horizon. It’s subtle, warm, and understated.

Eventide – A calm, misty gray that reflects the quiet calm of evening air. This shade is versatile and grounding, making it an ideal neutral that still carries depth and emotion.

Frost – Cool and delicate, this pale blue feels like the first hint of winter settling in. It’s crisp but gentle, bringing a breath of cold air to the collection without feeling stark.

These four colorways are designed to work beautifully together, allowing for cohesive colorwork, striping, or fade-style projects. Of course, they also stand confidently on their own for those who find themselves drawn to one shade in particular.

These colorways will be offered on two different bases:
• 100% Superwash Merino wool, DK weight
• 100% Bluefaced Leicester wool, non-Superwash, fingering weight

Thank you for being part of these four years, for knitting, crocheting, sharing, and supporting along the way. I’m so excited to celebrate this milestone with you, and I can’t wait to see what you create with these new colorways. Happy stitching!
