🧵I’ve been spending lots of time behind the sewing machine this month, and I’m excited to share that the shop has been freshly restocked with brand-new handmade project bags! Whether you’re planning your next sweater, shawl, socks, or crochet project, there’s a new project bag ready to keep your yarn and works-in-progress organized in style. This update includes several new large zipper project totes, a favorite among my customers who love big projects or carrying multiple projects together. It makes for a great travel companion too! My new drawstring project tote bag design is simple, functional and light-weight, perfect for that two- to three-skein project you are casting on. Finally, a staple in my collection of project bags are simple zipper edge style bags. I’m loving this fun neon llamas and teepees fabric too!
❤️ Handmade in Small Batches! One of my favorite parts of creating these bags is selecting fabrics that make each one feel unique and fun. Each bag is carefully handcrafted in my New Orleans studio using premium quilting cottons and thoughtful details that make every stitching session a little more joyful. Because I make everything in small batches, many of these prints won’t be available again once they sell out. If you see one that makes your heart skip a stitch, don’t wait too long to purchase!
I create travel cases for the avid sock knitter! They’re great for knitting on the go. The snaps hold your needles and project in place so it won’t slip off when in your project bag. The edges are sewn and sealed to keep needles from slipping out on the side.
These cases are handmade out of scrap leather. Some of the leather may have blemishes, giving it a unique, one-of-a-kind look. The link leads to the long cases, however my shop also has cases for short double-pointed needles in a separate listing.
Abigail Knits is known for taking old/worn out/scrap materials and repurposing them into useable items for yarn enthusiasts. My main focus is shawl cuffs. Those are in the process of being restocked in the shop.

Gavotte is a non-Superwash yarn spun from Bluefaced Leicester (BFL) wool and comes in 23 hand-dyed tonal colourways. It’s a light worsted-weight, 4-ply yarn with a fairly dense and smooth construction. Gavotte has great stitch definition, perfect for showing off cables or other textured stitch patterns, and works well for colourwork too! The fibre is sourced from the UK and the yarn is hand dyed in our studio in Montreal, Canada.

As the Silverlode winds its way through the forest of Lothlórien, the melodious stream passes among many shapely trees. The Fellowship crosses this stream on their way into this hidden realm, and its waters wash away the weariness of their long journey. This juxtaposition of the water and the wood inspired this reversible scarf that is as relaxing to knit as it is enjoyable. The cables on the front resemble the twisting roots and branches of the forest, while the cables on the reverse imitate the flowing waters of a gentle brook.
This pattern features both charted and written instructions, including a one-page full chart of the scarf. Notes are provided on how to modify the pattern with notes on yarn substitution and increasing or decreasing the size of your scarf. A photo tutorial for making your own tassels walks you through the process step-by-step so you can embellish your finished scarf if you like.

This past winter, I designed a new set of variegated yarns to work together as a rainbow. I named them after native New England plants because I’m one of those people that like to identify “weeds” when I’m walking in the woods. The spring vending season severely depleted my stock and they’ve finally made it to the webshop! They’re available individually (some on my Sparkle Sock base) and in 480-yard or 750-yard sets.
