Last summer, I became smitten with the Netflix series Heartstopper. I think that at one point I watched the series three times in one week and have since gotten caught up on the graphic novels. What can I say, sometimes I’m a sucker for romance. So, like many dyers would, I decided to express my fandom through yarn. I’ve created three mini skein sets in various semisolid colors:

• Blooming Attraction gives off rainbow vibes with a burgundy red, denim blue, sunny gold, light pink, sea green, and lilac.
• Fluttering Fondness is a swoon-worthy mix of blues, purples, and pinks that is bound to leave you twitterpated.
• Wistful Affections contains a playful arrangement of vivid and delicate colors that includes a muted chartreuse & pink, a vibrant coral & spring green, a tarnished gold, and greige to keep it all grounded.

There will be four base options for these sets:
• 80/20 Superwash BFL/nylon (25g fingering weight)
• 70/20/10 Superwash Merino/Cashmere/nylon (25g fingering weight)
• 75/25 Superwash Merino/nylon (20g DK weight)
• 85/15 Superwash Merino/Donegal Neps (20g DK weight)

Each of these colorway combinations will be available for preorder from May 1st through May 15th. These orders will be dyed once the preorder window has ended and will ship by the end of May. I wanted to make sure that all preorders would reach their destinations in time for pride month.

Just in case you’re having trouble choosing which set to pick, you can get 10% off your preorder if you add any three sets to your cart and use the HRTSTPR3 coupon code at checkout.

Mark your calendars so you don’t miss out!

This year long blanket MAL will include a whodunit mystery each month, including colors and charms inspired by your favorite lady detective from our favorite seaside town! We will be knitting the Northeasterly Blanket by Melissa Alexander-Loomis (knit version) and crocheting the Northeasterly blanket by Katy Stevens (crochet version). Join us for fun events, community, and take it step by step as we make a gorgeous throw together! Breaking blankets down into small goals throughout the year makes the larger project much less intimidating — and solving mysteries makes it fun!

We will be completing chevrons each month. This is an easy way to break down small bits of a blanket throughout the year and makes it amazingly easy to stay on task and finish! The mysteries each month keep it super fun and interesting to get to the next “clue.”

If you don’t specify knit or crochet, the default is knit.

Your first shipment will include what is listed below, plus the pattern and some extra goodies. It will ship in September. Your recurring charges for the year will begin on October 1st and you will be charged every 1st of the month for one year. Changes must be made two weeks before the 1st of each month.

Each month, you will receive:
*12 10g micro skeins in a DK-weight blend of 75/25 SW Merino/nylon
*A set of two SamsTinyTrinkets charms (IF YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION)
*A card with the month’s mystery with scratch-off clues to solve the mystery as you knit and crochet chevrons

PATRONS get extra goodies!
*20% off the exclusive Murder She Knit typewriter tote bag
*A vote on the next month’s theme and mystery

EXISTING LETTHEMYSTERYUNRAVEL MEMBERS ***Get 15% off your first box when ordering a monthly subscription OR 20% off if you order the pre-paid option

We will be having events each month that will include movie nights, trivia, and seek & find!

WHEN: MAL kicks off October 25th and runs for one year. Your boxes will ship in time each month to get to you for each start date (the 25th of each month)

PRIZES: include an assortment of mystery-themed gifts. Can include bags, yarn, charms, candles, lotion bars, wool wash, notions, and knitting or crochet tools
We will be providing the grand prize winner several of these items totaling approx. $300 in winnings
Monthly prizes available for those that finish 12 chevrons each month.
*Patrons get extra goodies for the monthly win (can include any of the following: bags, candles, notions, yarn, etc.)
*Non patrons: monthly detective prize will consist of the colorway of the month (100g skein) and a SamsTinyTrinkets trinket dish, special coupon code for the shop!

Choose your skin tone so that each month your SamsTinyTrinkets character charm will be as beautiful as you!

RULES for the MAL:

Your minis will be labeled 1-12

Each mini skein is a “clue.” When you knit or crochet up a chevron, scratch off the coordinating numbered clue in your detective sheet and post a photo on Instagram of your chevron using the hashtag #Letthemysteryunravelmal

Do not worry about revealing the clue on the detective sheet online; winning prizes is based solely on knitting or crocheting the 12 chevrons each month — the revealed clues are for the fun of unraveling the mystery only. If you get all 12 clues revealed in a given month and you post using the hashtag, you are entered for a monthly prize (this is not the same as the grand prize) it is in addition to grand prizes at the end. The winner will receive their prizes with their following shipment. We will announce monthly winners on Instagram and tag you.

You must finish and block the blanket to be entered for grand prizes by October 25, 2025.

It’s the highlight of our weekend at any event seeing how each person styles their handknits with our shawl pins. Show off your shawl pin style in the booth for a free gift. Not sure which pin would go best with a project, bring the project or a picture and we’ll gladly help you find the perfect match. We hope to see you there!

One of the things that first drew me to knitting was the desire to do something with my hands.

To take what essentially equates to sticks and string and wave my hands to create something beautiful.

I love the feel of the yarn as it passes through my fingers.
I love the meditative rhythm as I form each stitch.
And I love the challenge of working within the medium and seeing how I can bend it to my will to do incredible things.

My need to hold and work with physical items (paint brushes, prototypes, pens and paper) seems so at odds with someone who effectively lives most of her professional life on the internet.

But there is just something real and satisfying about a physical item so truly grounded in the real world.

This is why despite owning just about every gadget under the sun, I still plan all the things in a good old paper planner. It is also why I was ecstatic when last year a knit club friend asked me to design a knitting planner for the shop.

Once I allowed myself to daydream, my heart swelled.
This was going to be epic!

I wanted it to be beautiful and tactile.
I wanted it to be an archival place to remember all the things (even if I gave the project away as a gift).
But most of all, I wanted to be able to use it help me actually KNIT the project, not just record everything when I was done.

I am so ridiculously proud of how it turned out and have been using mine for months secretly waiting until the day that I could announce it to the world.

And today is that day!!

My dear friend, I’d like to introduce you to my baby… The Project Journal

How to use the project journal:
Step 1: Use the specially-designed project page to record all the details of your project.

Step 2: Attach samples of your yarn and use the built-in pocket to store your gauge swatch or your ball bands for later reference.

Step 3: Take notes, record your modifications, or even design your own patterns using the included dot grid & graph paper inserts.

Step 4: Slide your pattern into the page protector and bend your journal backward into “Easel Mode” to sit on the table beside you while you work. Use the included elastic band to slide down the page and keep track of each line as you work it.

And yes! We do have extra fill pages for when you fill all of these ones up 😘

Browse the booths of over two dozen vendors from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia. The vendors will be offering a variety of hand-dyed yarn and fiber, raw fleeces, handcrafted soaps and lotions, bags, stitch markers, pottery and finished items. There will be a yarn winding station available for all your new purchases. Cost will be $1 per 100-gram skein. All proceeds from yarn winding will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
For those coming from outside the area, there are several other local festivals going on that weekend in addition to the abundance of hiking and biking trails that are available at nearby Ohiopyle State Park. Ohiopyle, PA, was recently named the Best Small Town in the Northeast by USA Today.)

We have restocked Take a Hike on Plumpy Sock Stuff and Mindful on Fluff Stuff (Suri silk). These two yarns were used by a test knitter for Andrea Mowry’s new Brume sweater pattern. The test knitter held these two yarns together and it turned out beautifully.

Also added to the shop is Take a Hike on Bulky Stuff. We just love how the speckling looks on the bulky weight yarn.

Hello from ECY Shedquarters! At the recent shows, we have had lots of people asking about sport weight yarn and the skeins we had with us sold out super-fast so of course we had to oblige with an update of Pendle Sport! This is our Superwash extrafine Merino in a sport weight yarn and we’ve produced a lot of colours all in batches of ten skeins so that you can get sweater quantities. You can find all the available Pendle Sport in the recently added section of the website or in the Pendle Sport category, and you can find out more about this yarn in our Introduction blog post here. This update is a wide selection of ECY classic semi-solid colourways in sweater quantities so you should find something for any project!

We had several requests for more of the yarn for the Peppy Scarf as seen in Laine Issue 20. The yarn used for this is Keld Fingering in Heliotrope, Mellifer and Rust, which we have set up as a yarn pack. As these colours sold out so quickly, we have set up a preorder for the set and there are still a few of these available. You can find this on our homepage.

We are once again overflowing with yarn snippets which are a by-product of our post-dyeing processing. These colourful offcuts are too pretty to waste and make an ideal stuffing material for a range of projects. These are free but we do ask that you pay for postage. You can find them on the website here.

This year is jam packed with yarn shows and we can now announce that we will be exhibiting at Yarningham on the 13th and 14th July in Birmingham’s Uffculme Centre in the UK. We have a list of all the upcoming shows we will be attending on our website here. Our next show will be Buxton Wool Gathering on 18th & 19th May 2024 in Buxton, UK.

What is a reusable fabric calendar?

This is what our Advents are famous for! Basically, it’s the wrapping for the mini skeins. It’s handmade. There a picture on the listing of last year’s. We are trying to be eco friendly by giving you a 100% cotton fabric reusable calendar with pockets! Handmade numbers let you know which pocket to open on which day.

Enjoy advent knitting and the Christmas season with our beautifully handmade, 100% cotton Advent Calendar. The fabric calendars, made by Dave, have little pockets individually numbered to let you know which mini skein to open each day. It’s not just the home for the delightful little mini skeins, it’s part of the entire experience!

Reuse the fabric calendar next year and fill it with sweets or surprises making every Christmas a shared adventure in anticipation and joy. Imagine refilling it with treats for your kids, creating a countdown filled with joy, or exchanging it with your spouse to discover new goodies each day.
