This rectangular shawl is a soft exploration of colour and texture knit in one piece, made with bulky mohair yarn that creates a light cozy fabric with a delicate halo. Worked in three shades, the design uses short rows to gently shift and shape the colours across the fabric creating movement and unexpected transitions that unfold as the shawl grows.

It’s mystery knit-along time! We’re excited to share our new yarn sets for the Sky Song MKAL from Paper Daisy Creations, all inspired by the colours of the sky!

The yarn for these sets is a luxurious Superwash Merino/Cashmere/silk blend. It’s buttery soft, and the silk gives it just a bit of extra shine and lustre. Each yarn set includes two full skeins of the main colour and seven half-skeins for the contrast colour gradient.

These yarn sets include FREE SHIPPING within Canada and the US. We recommend ordering by August 18th to ensure your yarn arrives in time for the start of the Sky Song MKAL on September 2nd.

We have a limited quantity of each set, and you can find them all on our website. Enjoy!

Some gorgeous hill country hikes have inspired a new set of colourways for My Texas Collection. Succulent Summer is the soft blue green of the many succulent plants in the area. Texas Sage and Prickly Pear are two micro pooling yarns, meaning they have smaller than typical sections of accent colour. You can see the subtle effect this creates in the assigned pooling stitches of my current WIP, the Rock Garden Trail shawl, pattern by Dawn Barker. Against a background of Bark and Juvenile, also from My Texas Collection, the soft pink “nupps” look like the tiny flowers of the Texas Sage plant.

🍂 We’re heading into the -ber months and that means one thing around here — it’s time to cast on something cozy, colorful, and a little bit magical.

Join our Skill Builder yarn club to receive a new box of beautiful hand-dyed yarn every two months, explore new knitting techniques with photo and video tutorials, and try out your new skills with exclusive patterns from our featured designers!

Our September box will feature tuck stitches with a new design from Faye Kennington of UkeeKnits. If you do a quick web search you’ll find that there are a variety of knitting techniques referred to as “tuck stitch.” The technique we’re focusing on for this box is a cluster stitch that is created when a stitch from a row below, with an associated yarn over, is incorporated into the current row. If you’ve ever worked a brioche knit stitch, you might recognize this concept, as brioche is a tuck-based fabric. By varying the number of rows below that are included in the stitch cluster, changing colours between rows, and alternating or stacking cluster stitches, the possibilities extend beyond brioche! Tuck stitches create a textured surface, ranging from pleasing clusters to an all-over quilted or welted effect.

If you’re not a club member yet and want to join us in learning all about Tuck Stitches, don’t forget to use the code NEWSKILLS at checkout to get 10% off your first box.
