As Fall slowly starts to creep into most of the Northern Hemisphere, we at QCC Yarn are still in the midst of summer and will be for a few more months. In order to make it feel more like the seasons are changing, we have started to dye up some autumnal and Halloween colors.

In addition to the new colors, we now have three new yarn bases available: Floofy Cat, Forlorn Cat and Cat-Mandu.

Floofy and Forlorn Cats are 2-ply fingering weight yarns, with 400 yards per 100g. Floofy Cat is 80% SW Merino/20% nylon. Forlorn Cat is 80% SW British BFL/20% nylon.
Cat-Mandu is a 3-ply fingering weight yarn with 436 yards per 100g. It’s 70% SW Merino/20% yak/10% nylon.

Cat-Mandu is a rather special yarn. It has a natural grey base, due to the yak fiber; when dyed, it creates wonderfully deep, rich colors. These colors are only available on the Cat-Mandu base, unlike our other colorways, which can be dyed on any of our other bases.

Irish folklore is rich with Fairy Mythology. It was once believed that fairies are natural beings with supernatural powers. They can die, just as they can give birth to children. They can be generous and bring good luck and fortune. But if you harm them or their property they can be extremely vengeful and they are often seen as the fallen angels.

I’ve been fascinated since a child by the thought of fairies so I’ve created a Woodland Fairy Collection of colorways! For the next few months I’ll be releasing a new colorway to add to this fun collection.

First up is “Enchanted Forest” — because they need a place to live, right?? ???? Enchanted Forest is a beautiful colorway with bright greens, rich oranges and soft grey brown. Just the colors that I imagine are in the Fairy Forests!

And the first fairy colorway is called “Peacock Fairy”, which has bright aqua blues, rich yellows, and soft baby blues.

Use these colorways to escape to the fairy world as you create your next masterpiece!

It’s almost PSL time again!

Friday August 24th at 6 a.m. Central time, BigFootFibers celebrates all things fall! This update focuses on a PSL mini set preorder. These are limited edition and make fun socks or shawls. Close to You by Justyna Lorkowska looks exceptional in this set!

Also there are two Beekeeper sets left in the shop with your choice of MCN DK or 100% Merino, both in the colorway Maple. Hurry and get yours before they are gone! Set includes a limited edition bee bag by Hikari Handmade, a bee-themed lotion bar made from local to me beeswax and bee themed stitch markers.

It’s a smaller update since we had back-to-back shows: Stitches MidWest and a trunk show at The Studio in KC where we met amazing people! This update also includes some new colorways and bases — BFL/silk in fingering, as well as mohair and more!

I also want to thank everyone for their kind words about my father’s passing last month. I am blessed beyond words to be a part of this caring community.

Hello Fiber Friends!

It’s still 100 degrees in the Old Pueblo but I’m dreaming of fall colors and squishy DK weight sweaters. Put them together and you get our Fall 2018 colorway!

It’s shown here on our DK Xtra base: 115 grams, 250 yards of fabulous extra fine Superwash Merino. This colorway is available for preorder on all bases through mid-September.

There are lots of other great fall colors and non-repeatable “experiments” waiting for adoption. We also offer digital gift certificates!
