With Pointed Sticks is expanding their line of hand-dyed yarns to include a new base: Glitter Gel Pen DK!

This base is made up of the same fiber content as existing Glitter Gel Pen Fingering, but thicker and squishier; perfect for cozy winter accessories or garments.

– 4-ply
– 75% superwash Merino, 20% nylon, 5% silver-toned stellina
– 231 yards/100 grams

It is currently available in my shop in colorways “Tulip Fields” and “Mixed Berries.”

Also new to the shop is free shipping on all orders within the United States over $50 with coupon code FREESHIPPING

Each year, I try to begin the new year with a new yarn base. This year, I’ve chosen a 50/50 silk/Merino fingering weight that goes by the name of Silk Sheep. The special thing about this yarn is, once you own it, you won’t be able to keep your hands off of it! This very round 4-ply, medium twist yarn is not only silky smooth and luxuriously drape-y, but it has all the squish and spring of what must have been some of the cuddliest sheep on the planet. I’m not a huge fan of silk blends, myself, but this is the kind of yarn that I would knit with again and again. It’s not overly shiny like some yarns whose silk is synthetic, either. The pure silk in this fiber blend has a gentle sheen that will ad luster instead of glare to your finished project, and who wouldn’t want that? Available colorways include: Lipstick on His Collar, Kozmic Blues, Veridian, Lost in a Daydream, and Eleanor Rigby.

Silk Sheep also comes in a generous hank of 438 yards (400 m) per 100g. That’s far more yarn in a single hank than you will find from most commercial companies. As well, the eco-friendly, non-toxic dyes are fixed to eliminate the bleeding and fading that you so often get with the commercial “hand paint” yarns. Dyed in jewel tones, Silk Sheep is a dream come true for shawl, scarf, and lace knitters. So, stop by Cedar Hill Farm Company and check out the very unique and very beautiful Silk Sheep today — your stash will thank you!

There is a very fun MKAL in collaboration with Miss Babs beginning January 21. There will be six clues on an all-garter shawl, appropriately called “Welcome Back, Garter.” You need three skeins of sock yarn; please read the info on the Ravelry pattern page for specifics. Please join the Casapinka group on Ravelry for some great prizes and to share your colors. We even have a beautiful gradient prize for our “Endalong” (where you sew in your ends like good knitters, ahem). If you need color help we are there to guide you. The shawl is large, drapey, pretty, and fun to knit. You might want to knit more than one!

The enrollment period for Yarnageddon 2016, our yarn, fiber, and gift club, ends this Friday. We love to spoil club members — spots are still available! This year, we are celebrating the 5th anniversary of our yarnclub with a contest: every order placed in our store through Friday, 1/15, at midnight Pacific time counts as an entry into a drawing, where one lucky winner of a Yarnageddon membership will be chosen. We’re very excited to offer a coveted, year-long membership as a thank you to our customers for their support. Best of luck!

Three hat styles include goodies and baddies for role playing fun. Charts for the letter A and lightning flashes are also provided for extra customisation.

We have about a dozen rainbow miniskein options currently available in our shop. Most are sock weight but there are some colourful DK options too. Pictured is the gift set of ten brightly coloured rainbow mini skeins of soft smooth sock yarn, each weighing approximately 10g (just over 100g of yarn in total) plus one full size (100g) skein of pretty grey on the same yarn base. 200g yarn in total. Plenty of yarn for full size adults socks and then some . . . or for adding bright colour to any project. Both the miniskeins and the grey are also sold separately.

These are a superwash treated 4ply sock weight with 75% merino wool for softness and warmth and 25% nylon for strength and durability. It is suitable for approximately 2-3mm needles. About 42 metres per 10g skein, or 420 metres per 100g, adding up to 200g (840 metres) total for the gift set pictured.

If you love a hand-dyed sock yarn then take a look in our shop as we have some beautiful original colourways hand dyed with love in our West of Scotland family home. We specialise in rainbows, miniskeins and self striping yarn but also keep a large stock of other colourful designs.

My favourite yarn has to be Wollmeise Lace-Garn. It’s my go-to yarn for large wraps and shawls and is often perfect for the weather I get here in Perth. It’s light enough for cool nights yet warm enough to keep the chill away, and in winter it provides a fantastic extra layer of warmth. Even if your winter is colder than mine, which isn’t hard, it’s a fantastic yarn. It’s also the yarn that inspired my first release of 2016, Eldwick.

Eldwick is a long textured and reversible wrap that features a reversible interrupted rib stitch pattern in three panels (2 showing the RS and 1 the WS) across the width of the shawl separated by eyelet columns, which also feature around the edge. At the centre point, the panel textures reverse. Eldwick is large enough to use as a wrap, but can also be scrunched up and used a scarf under your favourite winter coat.

Eldwick is currently available on Ravelry at 25% off until midnight Wednesday 13th January 2016, AWST. No coupon code required.
