The Crunching Leaves Cowl is a simple cowl that allows two yarns to interact and create a woven effect. I used my favorite stitch, along with bulky yarn and some seed stitch to create a simple but cozy cowl that is a striking addition to a winter outfit. Made with two skeins of Dragonfly Fibres Super Traveller (shown here in Golden Compass and Silver Fox), or two skeins of bulky yarn, 100 yards each.

Being an indie dyer, and a buyer of all things indie before I began BigFootFibers, I love indie designers. We will always gravitate towards a few designers that we absolutely love, and one of those for me is Andrea Mowry. Her designs are wearable, simple but fantastic, and utilize the kinds of yarns that made me want to start dyeing in the first place!

I love dyeing yarns that make my heart sing, and even more fulfilling is knitting with these yarns in patterns that make my heart sing! Fall is the perfect time to try Fluffy U Fiber Farm’s yarns. We are a small farm located in Dover, Pennsylvania. We raise various British breed and heritage breed sheep whose fiber we use to produce our line of yarns. We hand-dye all of our yarns and roving. Our goal is to provide quality yarn and roving from our farm to ewe. Small Business Saturday is fast approaching and we will be offering some incentives for our shoppers.
I have just uploaded the shop with lots of goodies, including a new base that debuted at the Indie Untangled Trunk Show — Polwarth Silk DK, a non-superwash yarn thats squooshy and soft.
All of the Rhinebeck 2017 skeins sold out at the trunk show but I will be dyeing more of that up on my Mericash Fingering and Journey Worsted yarns this month, with another update TBD. Thanks for having a look!
Round Table Yarns has just opened a new yarn club. Sign-ups run through November 15. For yarn clubs, a specific story from the Arthurian legends is chosen as the inspiration, and with each yarn shipment, you receive part of the story. This club’s story is called the Abduction of Guenevere.
One day, Queen Guenevere takes a few knights with her on a pleasant horseback ride. But the ride quickly turns unpleasant when an evil knight comes along and abducts the queen! For this yarn club, you’ll receive part of the story each shipment, so you’ll find out who has kidnapped Guenevere and why through the end of the adventure. (What does Lancelot do when he finds out? Is Guenevere rescued? How does Guenevere end up getting herself in even more trouble?)
For four months, you’ll receive one shipment each month (so four total shipments) of a special yarn club colorway based upon this story of the Abduction of Guenevere. The story has been split into four parts. Each month, you’ll receive part of the story and a color of yarn based upon that part of the story. In at least one of the packages, you’ll receive an extra little gift.
Each yarn color is a surprise that you’ll anticipate each month along with the next part of the story. The colors are exclusive to the yarn club for at least three months from the date of shipment.
Each yarn base will be your choice. You can receive the same base throughout the entire club or you can mix and match and get a different base in each shipment. You’ll also be able to choose how many skeins of yarn (1-4) you receive each month (same number of skeins per month). All bases sent as part of the club contain 100 grams per skein.
You’ll also have the option of participating in a knit-along/crochet-along in the Round Table Yarns group on Ravelry, where you can chat with other yarn club members and be eligible to win prizes. In addition, you’ll receive a recommended list of pattern ideas for using your yarn club yarn.
