Another Brick in the Shawl is a three-colored boomerang shawl. It has mosaics interspersed with nice, mindless slip stitches if you need something for your latest Netflix series or a long car trip. I chose a melon and aqua because they are such a nice combination for spring but any two contrasting colors would work well.
Hi All! I just wanted to take a moment to introduce you to my little yarn shop! My name is Kayleen, and i’m the principal fiber artist and indie yarn dyer behind Littlebean Loves Yarn (I also host a small weekly podcast on YouTube to share my crafty exploits). I have been involved in the fiber arts for over 20 years, and bringing my creativity to dyeing yarn has been such a welcome and fun change! I host shop updates usually Saturdays at 1 p.m. Eastern Time, and many of my colorways are based off of “fandom” inspirations. This year has been quite heavy on the Harry Potter front, but you won’t hear me complaining about that! I just go with the flow, and dye what inspires me. Wingpoint is a bias triangle shawl with a twist. A center decrease creates a “spine” and tail. Marled triangles add visual interest. You will need 400 yards of fingering weight yarn for the main color and five 75-yard minis (or scrap yarn!). It is shown here in Backyard Fiberworks sock.

I’m brand new to Indie Untangled, so let me introduce myself. I’m Brandy, the one-women indie dyer behind Long Dog Yarn. I specialize in spectacularly speckled yarns with complimentary bright tonal colorways. Long Dog Yarn was started just about a year ago while I was finishing my PhD at the University of Toronto, but recently my husband and I, along with our “long dog,” a dachshund named Rufus, just relocated to Los Angeles after we both finished our degrees. Now I’ve set up in our big new kitchen to dye, dye, dye and continue growing the business.

Spring comes to Spencer Hill with two new bases, “Ruth” and “Meg.” “Ruth” is a Superwash Merino fingering-weight single that takes dye like WHOA. I think it’s destined to be a favorite. Currently available in a limited color range, I can’t wait to dye up more and see where it goes. Put-up is approximately 400 yds/100g. “Meg” is a 100% non-Superwash organic wool, in a sporty/DK-ish weight, and put up at about 166 yds/50g. I give that kind of nebulous weight description because I was able to knit it up with a wide variety of needle sizes. It’s very versatile. The smaller skeins are nice for colorwork yokes and small colorful projects.
I didn’t mention our last new product in the title…FRANKENBLANKS! Naturally-dyed sock blanks of 75/25 superwash Merino/nylon blend, with approximately 436 yds/100g, FrankenBlanks add the element of surprise to your sock, shawl, or scarf knitting as you ravel them while you knit (or wind them into a ball before you do-your choice).
