Bristol Ivy has just released a new pattern using our Alpaca/Silk Sport yarn. Rillmark is started as a traditionally constructed pi shawl, with lace and texture elements inspired by the place where the water meets the shore. After the body is complete, the asymmetrical border is worked using simple lace and increases. Using less than 600 yards of sportweight yarn, it’s a quick and fun knit for an elegant finished shawl.
The yarn for this project is available for pre-order in the Skeinny Dipping shop! Alpaca/Silk Sport is an exquisite blend of 80% superfine alpaca and 20% silk. All the yarn is in stock. Knitters just need to select the number of skeins (all of two were used for this project, but you can order an extra to prevent Yarn Chicken!) and what colorway they would like. Free shipping in the US, and a shipping discount equal to the cost of domestic shipping is given to international customers. The pattern is available on Ravelry.
Cupcake Mini Skein Sets available on a superwash DK or 75 superwash Merino / 25% nylon sock base. All sets come with twelve 10g mini skeins for a lovely pastel rainbow with or without sprinkles.
I was thrilled when Casapinka, the designer of the fabulous Koi Pond shawl, asked if I’d be interested in creating some kits for her shawl pattern! I’ve been having a blast putting these together!
Each set contains one set of 6 mini skeins (approx 100 yd/25 gr each) as well as one full size contrast skein (400 yd/100 gr). The pattern is not included in the set, but is available on Ravelry for instant download from the designer.
Mini kits are also available as stand-alone items, so feel free to let your imagination run wild with all the possibilities.
Hi, you guys! It’s been awhile since I had even a moment to sit down and give all of you an update. I’m not sure if I am ready to party, or a little wistful that all of my spring fiber festivals are over. But yes, the summer lull between festivals has arrived. That means more shop updates for you, with more stuff every week.
And I’ve got NEW STUFF! I’ve been on a crafting binge lately, and truthfully, nothing is safe from my new fabric obsession. Hand-decorated fabric-covered tape measures are now in the Groovy Hues shop! I’ve had a hard time parting with some of them, but there are only so many WIPs I can measure at once. I have them for most every fandom, with more being added every few days.
We just had a shop update recently, and the “Some Like It Hot” kits are incredibly popular. I have just a handful left, and they are on special for $6 off. They make the most adorable buffalo wing and celery socks — I am finished with one sock, and I am well on my way to finally completing the second. I rarely keep anything I make, but this is some selfish knitting, my friends. I love buffalo wings and hot sauce more than anything in the universe. If I ever get married, that is going to be my wedding dinner — I swear it. The bags are made by Jennifer Franc of Otterly Adorable Knits — she has been my friend for over three decades, and her craftsmanship is top notch.
Hmm… what else? Yarn! Tons and tons of yarn! Do you have a hankering for some instant gratification projects? The super bulky I’ve tossed into the shop is perfect for you. It is a deliciously soft single-ply, and resists pilling nicely. It’s an incredible comfort skein. You can pet it, and pet it, and all of your troubles will melt away into the glorious squish! Luxury bases — I’ve got some new ones on tap now, too! There’s an Merino/Cashmere/Silk that is absolutely dreamy. The “I Don’t Need Saving!” colorway hit the shop a few days ago, and it was an instant hit. I can’t stop dyeing it, so I have simply listed this one as “dyed to order.” I’m pumping them out pretty quick, though. The wait shouldn’t be too long. There’s a mohair sock yarn that has several different colorways, and I just love the stuff.

When I was a kid, back in the dark ages, I was actively enouraged to go play outside as much as possible. When it rained, though, I got to stay inside and watch movies on TV. Sometimes, I even lucked out and something really good was on, like Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life.” The thing I thought was wonderful about this movie was that the people were so very real. Down to the smallest detail—which having seen the movie so many times I really noticed. Like Violet. She was always a little bit of a flirt, in a fun sort of way, tossing her hair, swinging her hips, that kind of thing. In the end, it wasn’t just George Bailey’s life that was improved, but all those people he touched, including Violet. This lacy tee is just the sort of thing I envision Violet choosing to throw on when she wanted to look extra special without a lot of extra effort.
Violet’s Wonderful Life is an all-over lace tee that is knit in the round from hem to armholes. Stitches are added for the sleeves, and front and back are worked flat to the shoulders.

This has been hard to keep under wraps for these past few months, but at long last we can reveal our brand-new palette of standard “house colors” for our popular Lhasa Wilderness and Himalayan Trail bases! Hand-dyed for us by a local Colorado Dyer, MJ Yarns, these semisolid colors are dyed especially to create colors with depth and character. The dye techniques employed may take a little longer, but that effort is well worth it for our customers who will find they don’t need to work from two different skeins to avoid color pooling!
In addition to these standard colors, MJ Yarns will also be producing a set of Limited Edition colors on various blends for us, too (stay tuned for more on that soon!).
Choose from the following 12 hand-dyed colors: Burgundy, Deep Teal, Charcoal, Lavender, Blueberry, Azure, Olive, Scarlet, Soft Pink, Carrot, Sunshine, & Pistachio.
