I’m super excited for the first pattern release of 2015! The Sugarplum infinity scarf has a simple stitch pattern creates a spiraling lace reminiscent of the pirouetting dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. This fun project is perfect for that that special skein of fingering weight yarn that you have tucked away in your stash. The lace pattern really shows off in hand painted yarns while is interesting enough for semisolid colorways.

Sugarplum is the perfect three season accessory. Wear it this winter on the outside of your coat or wrapped twice around your neck to keep the chill out. During the warmer months pair it with your favorite top for a pop of color.

Introductory priced at $2.99 on Ravelry until January 20th. Grab that special skein of fingering weight yarn and get your knit on in 2015!

2015 is going to bring a few changes in the label line-up for Cedar Hill Farm Company yarns. The first change to announce is the addition of a new yarn altogether: JOURNEY. Because it marks the beginning of a new direction for our yarns, and because it is ideal for lacey and cable-y socks and shawls, we think that this is the yarn that you will want with you on whatever your 2015 journey may be. 100% superwash, this 4-ply Merino is squishy-soft and absolutely luxurious! Journey yarns are hand painted in very small batches of 3 and 4 hanks to ensure that colors are vivid and uniform, and because of the nature of our dye process, each hank retains a one-of-a-kind quality.

In the spirit of going on a journey, all of the colorways of this collection will be named for the spectacular destinations that are worthy of anyone’s bucket list. Even if you are unable to travel there, you can wear the colors of the world’s most beautiful landscapes and cityscapes. Each colorway in this label debut has a story to tell, as well. For example, Avignon is so named for the lavender gardens that surround the stone monastery of Abbaye de Senanque near the historic town on Avignon, France. The colorway Cappadocia, of course, is named for the area in Anatolia, Turkey, where the landscape is rich with cordovan and the colors of desert sands. Additional colorways making their debut include: Lerwick, Glen Coe, and Norris Point.

Also, look for Journey as a featured yarn in Tangledmania’s “Knit-the-Book” event in 2015. One of these color ways will be used to knit the Ivy Trellis Mittens from Alana Dakos’ Botanical Knits.

JOURNEY is now available in limited quantities in the Cedar Hill Farm Company shop at Zibbet.com.

The matching Palamon Hat and Arcite Cowl patterns have been released. This hat and cowl feature two slip stitch patterns, which makes this a great design for variegated or semi-solid yarns. Knit with a worsted weight yarn (sample uses Malabrigo Worsted Merino), each one is a quick knit to help keep you warm this winter. Patterns are available on Ravelry separately or together as an eBook and are on sale through January 15, 2015. (Quick note on the names: Palamon and Arcite are the main characters in “The Knight’s Tale,” part of the Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer.)

Phew, so glad that is over. The Holidays around here are NUTS! Now that the eating, drinking, traveling and shopping are done I can relax in the Studio and cook up some lovely new gradients.

Jenn and I have been watching Outlander recently. She is watching for the cool knitwear that Claire wears and I watch because Jamie is HOT, umm I mean because I get inspired. This what I’ve come up with so far. Claire is a subtle copper gradient, Jamie is a smoky gray. Use them for shawls scarves or socks. We’ve designed a “Noro-esque” Spin to Knit Scarf Kit for fiber lovers that mix Claire and Jamie and keep you warm without the itchies. Stop by the shop for more new colorways, and don’t forget custom orders are always welcome.

I’m recently back from a family trip to Punta Cana and did lots of sock knitting while traveling. Right before I left, I dyed up a bunch of new speckled sock yarn skeins and grabbed one for beach knitting. These skeins are super variegated and knit up with lots of color variation from row to row to avoid pooling. I’m just now finishing up the green pair of socks that I worked with while tanning and started a second pair in my purple colorway on the plane ride home. Check them out in my shop!

A few years ago I dabbled a bit into making beaded stitch markers as a fundraiser for my local Relay For Life event. I had a huge stash of beads my Aunt had brought me back from France and I needed to use some of them up. I found myself searching the internet for the best way to make markers and thus “Hope Markers” were born.

I haven’t sold markers as a fundraiser for over a year now, and I was beginning to miss making them. I still had tons of beads and wire, so why not? I spent a few days over my holiday making the markers you will find in my shop. All are completely unique, made with nylon coated wire and beads from both France and here in the USA. They are snag free, in that they are held together with crimp beads and a drop of super glue.

Although I am not donating the proceeds to Relay For Life, I hope you will consider buying my markers as a personal donation to my artistic endeavors. As an artist, I explore knitting and the stitches within my work (Something you will see in my prints and cards also on my shop) and am currently in an unpaid internship where my main focus is to make art. All proceeds from my Etsy shop go to supporting myself during this time.

Thank you for taking the time to explore my shop.
