Showing events and classes

As February rolls in we hope you are feeling as cozy and creative as we are! We’ve got loads of gorgeous yarny things to show you today!

We’re starting off with Noemi Zimmer’s Half of my Heart Beanie or Cowl — what a cute pattern! We’ve got some lovely kits that will really show off the colorwork pattern in squishy Shelley, our worsted-weight base. The kit comes with two hanks of Shelley in coordinating colors. If you want to do the three-color version, grab another hank or something from your stash.

Pour yourself a cuppa and check out the lovely Tea Time Tin & Stitch Marker Set. It’s so fancy!

Want to add some texture to your knitting? We’ve got something to make it Pop! Poppy, by Fat Bunny Yarn, a fingering weight Superwash Merino with nylon neps is just the thing. Check out all the amazing colors! Poppy is a fingering weight yarn so you can mix and match with our fingering base Twain for monochromatic texture or use it as a pop of color in addition. Need some inspiration? We’re thinking of how great Poppy would be in Mairlyn’s Beachy Keen Shawl or Shellie Anderson’s Athens top. Weavers will love the something special it adds to their projects, too.

We’ve got a super restock of beautiful colors on Bronte, our Suri alpaca/silk base that are perfect for blending with so many other colors to add lush softness. Also, we have some of the same, and some different colors on Woolf, our luxurious grey alpaca/silk/cashmere base, and some newcomers on The Beast, Alcott and Hawthorne.

There’s still time to get in on our Spring Out of Winter Eun Sweater Make-A-Long! This modern, comfy sweater is a great layering piece to bridge that chilly space between winter and spring. Click here to get your preorder in right away.

Also, if you’re in Central Florida, you’re invited to our little Yarn Party welcoming the Bay Area Knitting Guild’s Annual Yarn Crawl to Needleworks on Saturday, February 3rd.

Also make plans to join us at our Trunk Show at Knit & Stitch in Cocoa on Saturday, February 10th.

Last but not least, we are live on our YouTube channel, The Traveling Two Ewe Knit, every Saturday morning at 9:30AM Eastern time. Grab your coffee or tea, your yarn, and let’s have a great time together!

Fiber friends are the best friends! Thanks for being a part of our yarn community, and we’ll be back next week for more updates and adventures!

If you’re anything like me, you love the moment of casting on and diving into a new knitting project, and you’re doing a lot of things right:

???? You know that practice makes progress, and you keep on trying!

???? You’re challenging yourself to try new things … because you know it’s the best way to grow and learn as a knitter.

???? You spend a lot of time researching and watching video tutorials… because maybe that next instructor will explain it in a way you understand.

But… learning new knitting techniques isn’t all fun and games.

⏳You spend hours unraveling your work because you misunderstood a pattern or struggled to decipher complicated charts.

????You toss your project in Time Out, going weeks or months without touching your knitting needles after making a mistake you don’t know how to fix.

????And let’s not forget the frustration of coming across a beautiful stitch pattern that you want to make, but you have no idea how.

Knit/crochet/weave your next adventure

January is called Selfish Knitting month, because after all the holiday gift knitting (and crochet, too!) we did, it is finally time to focus on knitting something for ourselves. It isn’t really selfish to make something for yourself. It is a lovely practice to make something you like, using good wool and tools, and have the thrill of wearing it and saying, “Thank you. I made it myself.”

To spoil yourself, we bring a restock of Woolf, our most luxurious base from our Gilded Ewe collection, in colors never worn by Woolf before. You’ll love the way this yarn feels, made from 70% grey alpaca, 20% silk, and 10% Cashmere. See all the new colors on Woolf in addition to those already in the shop:

Woolf is a great way to add luxe to other bases. See the beautiful pair of socks, our Carolyn made using our sock base Twain held with Woolf to make a squishy, sturdy, soft pair of DK socks.

inTandem zine Issue 2 is now in the shop. We love the modern comfy cozy designs in this book by Pattern Design Circle. Six great patterns with beautiful textural interest are featured in the book that also comes with digital download codes for Ravelry/Payhip. It’s a great value!

Don’t forget to get in on the Pantone 2024 Color of the Year preorder! Based on last year’s Viva Magenta, we think Carolyn’s interpretation of the 2024 color will be a peach!

After seeing the beautiful prize package for our 2023 Yarn Challenge, you’ll want to get started on the 2024 Yarn Challenge right away. Download your free 2024 challenge worksheet today.

Last but not least, we’re going live on our YouTube channel, The Traveling Two Ewe Knit, this morning at 9:30AM Eastern time. We’ll be streaming live from Orlando Distaff Day in Orlando, FL. You can learn more about Distaff Day here. Grab your coffee or tea, your yarn, and let’s have a great time together!

Fiber friends are the best friends! Thanks for being a part of our yarn community, and we’ll be back next week for more updates and adventures!

Are you curious about where your wool comes from? Would you like to know exactly what journey your yarn takes between sheep and knitter, and how different breeds, farming practices, spinning methods and dyeing techniques contribute to your final project?

Join our year-long club to deepen your understanding of wool by exploring six different farm-specific yarns! You’ll receive a new box every other month with two skeins of yarn (one hand dyed and one the natural colour of the sheep) and all the info you’ll need to understand what makes each wool special and to plan the perfect project to take advantage of its particular characteristics.

All the yarns for the 2024 Beyond Merino subscription boxes will be sourced directly from the farms we’re collaborating with. There will be a strong focus on Canadian farms and yarns, with a box or two from farms outside of Canada.

Debbie and Elizabeth will be your guides through this year of wooly adventures (with help from the sheep farmers we’re collaborating with), and we’ll be meeting on Zoom to share our thoughts, impressions, and project planning for each box.

We’re offering a couple of different payment options for this yarn club, so you can choose to pay for all six boxes in advance or sign up for a recurring subscription. You can find all the details about what to expect on our website and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!

Come join us on a year of colourful yarn adventures!

Are you curious about colour? Have you ever wondered why some colour combinations appeal to you while others might seem too boring or too loud? Join our Colour Wheel Adventures yarn club to learn all about colour relationships and how to confidently apply colour theory to your knitting projects, practice a variety of colourwork techniques, and create your own unique patchwork blanket!

12 boxes ~ 24 patterns ~ 36 colours ~ 48 mini-skeins

Our Colour Wheel Adventures yarn club is a year-long guided exploration of the colour wheel and colour theory in a fun and playful way. Each month you’ll receive four 25g mini skeins (three hand-dyed colours + one natural) and two new blanket square patterns to play with. We’ll host an online discussion group and regular Zoom meetups to discuss what we’ve learned and share our colourful experiments!

We want to offer our members an amazing experience including the yarn, colour theory mini-course, and community, while keeping this club as affordable as possible. The cost to join is only about $35 US per month including shipping! (We charge in Canadian dollars, so you’ll see the pricing on our website as $39 CAD + shipping/box.)

Hello from ECY Shedquarters. We have been very busy with getting lots of yarn ready for the website and preparing our Seasonal Stash Boxes. This week alone we have added Titus 4ply and our sparkly festive Rosedale 4ply update. This includes Festive Fun (cream with green and red speckles) alongside Apeldoorn Tulip (a rich red) and Larch (dark green). Rosedale 4ply is a Merino/nylon sock yarn with gold Stellina sparkle running through it. You may think that the sparkly fibres would be itchy against your skin but even the more sensitive members of our team find it comfortable to wear against the skin.

We also have an update of Hayton 4ply hitting the website on Monday 26th November. Hayton 4ply is a delicious blend of Merino Cashmere and nylon giving all the best qualities you would want in a yarn: softness of the merino, strength from the nylon and luxury from the cashmere. If you are a fan of Liz Corke and her patterns you should be very familiar with this blend. Liz’s latest pattern Tar-Sgàil uses Hayton 4ply as do many of her fingerless mitt patterns!

We are down to four Seasonal Stash Boxes left at the time of writing so if you are interested in getting your hands on one don’t delay! The listing now also has a link to a folder which shows the contents for anyone who would prefer for it not to be a surprise!

For readers in the UK we have been confirmed as vendors at East Anglia Yarn Festival on 9th-10th March 2024. Tickets for the show go on sale on Saturday morning so if you want to see us in person it would be great to see you!
