Wrap yourself in mermaid magic as you knit and wear the Catching a Mermaid shawl! It features a stitch pattern that mimics a mermaid’s scales, and you’ll also get to knit charming texture and simple lace that creates an elegant open design.

Now the perennially popular pattern has gotten a glow-up to boost the clarity, styling, and ease of use. You will love working from the new pattern! Get 25% off with code MERMAIDS through Monday, April 28, on softyarndesigns.com, Ravelry, and Etsy.

When yarn pirates find themselves landbound, they love sitting and knitting by the fireside! What’s more perfect than knitting up a Fireside Bandana with a perfectly curated kit? I’ve added a few new spring color combos for this luxury kit!

Fireside Bandana Kits include everything you need except your knitting needles and fun buttons: Lovely non-Superwash Organic Merino Sport Treasures Yarn, a printed Fireside Bandana pattern designed by Carina Spencer as well as a ravelry download code, stitch markers and a few bonus booty goodies too! The hardest part is picking your color theme! Will the Original Classic version speak to you? The new Rose Garden colors? Royals Blue? Wine Lover? It’s hard to choose just one.

Another amazing thing is this pattern doesn’t use any colorwork! The magic is created entirely with slipped stitches. The yarn provided is enough to knit the standard or larger sized bandana cowl. If you’re lucky enough to be leaving on a ship for an adventure, this kit is just the perfect thing to take along! For the rest of us stuck on land, we’ll sit and knit up a few fireside bandanas and dream of the sea.

Softyarn Designs now has a website! To celebrate, take 20% off all patterns on the site with code Indie20. These patterns will both spark your creativity and give you a smooth knitting experience. The detailed, tech-edited, and test-knit patterns include tips for success, helpful links, and specific instructions for custom fit modifications so you’ll make things that not only fit, but fit the way you want. Inspired by a vibrant day spent wandering the woods and soaking in the changing light and colors, the Woodland Wander Cowl is designed to highlight your favorite hand-dyed yarn pairings. This cowl is knit flat on the bias and seamed together at the end for effortless styling. It features slipped stitches and textured stitches to add interest to the stripes as well as i-cord edges for a polished finish. It’s perfect for an adventurous beginner. Skills: knit, purl, increase, decrease, mattress stitch.

The pattern image is shown in Sew Happy Jane’s Delightful DK in the colors Spruce and Leaf Peepers, which are currently available for preorder. The kit includes the PDF pattern and two skeins of yarn.

Visit my website to shop for other seasonally inspired perfect pairings. This pattern works well with both high and low contrast yarn pairings to create a completely different effect, so don’t be afraid to experiment (or try using mini skeins for the stripes!).

Self-striping will be on the Third Vault website soon for an End of Month Update!

It’s been a while since I’ve done self-striping yarn… so they’re making a comeback. I’ve got the gradient self-stripings you’ve seen before and new ones soon to be revealed, alongside some fun gradient blanks. Keep your eyes peeled for the new colourways being revealed soon!

Bonus Stripes is a drop-shoulder sweater meant to be worn with lots of positive ease, for a comfy, casual, lightly-cozy layer.

This striped pullover is worked mostly flat, from the bottom up. The fronts and backs are worked separately, then seamed — allowing you to choose a fun and vibrant pop of color for the back of your sweater. The shoulders are joined with a visible three-needle bind-off, and the sleeves are picked up at the armhole and worked in the round.

I was inspired by some beautiful skeins of Murky Depths Yakima Fingering and Yakapaca to design this sweater — my very first published pattern!

Grab some smooth fingering weight and fluffy laceweight yarns and cast on your own Bonus Stripes today!
