Swoon DK is here in time for your DK Sweater & shawl knitting!

Swoon DK is a 75% SW Merino/25% Mulberry Silk blend and each hank is 251 yards. This hand-dyed yarn has a luscious sheen, with a wonderful feel to both the wear-er and the knitter. You can feel the coolness of the silk.

Swoon DK is available in 11 standard colors in my shop. Did I miss your favorite color? I would be happy to discuss a preorder to dye it for you!

During the month of October, I am excited to be offering 15% off of Swoon DK in my Etsy shop, with Discount Code: UNTANGLED

Preorders are open for Autumn Light, my show colorway for the upcoming Indie Untangled 2019 trunk show.

Autumn light is one of the reasons I love Rhinebeck so much. The light slanting through red maple leaves is brief, precious and beautiful. Despite how fleeting autumn light is (or perhaps because of it), I’m always reminded in the autumn that despite its heartaches and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

I’ve tried to capture the feeling of autumn light in this skein. The colorway is a rich and layered shade of dark figs and wine, with layers of golden sunshine and faded roses peeking through. It’s speckled with pops of amber, bronze and persimmon.

Preorder September 27 through October 2.

• If you have tickets to Indie Untangled, you can pick up your skein at the show.

• If you don’t have tickets, you can still preorder and I’ll dye and ship your skein when I’m back from the show (shipping in November).

I hope to meet you at Rhinebeck or online, and celebrate together the loveliest months of the year: autumn.

Warmly,
Anne

Little Skein in the Big Wool

Historical motifs and stitch patterns are among my favorite to recreate. It always leaves me with a feeling of awe to think of people and the items they made using this very pattern so long ago.

The brocade-like stitch patterns on this plush Fair Isle Cashmere cowl are taken from an antique book of Russian embroidery motifs found in my favorite used book store and translated into knitting charts. The pairing of a solid cashmere with a hand-painted colorway give the illusion of complicated color work when truly only two yarns are used, so you have a fast, beautifully colorful, satisfying knit.

This cowl is knit in the round using the stranded colorwork and the yarn is held double throughout for a thick, cozy cowl. Skill level is for advanced beginners.

I am releasing a new yarn just in time for fall – Silky Single! 70% SW Merino/30% Mulberry silk, 415 yards. This yarn is fingering weight, single ply, and super luscious. Dyed in all of my painting-inspired colorways, this yarn has a wonderful sheen and drape, and is great for shawls and accessories. The yardage makes it great for one-skein projects, or pick up a couple and mix things up a bit!

To celebrate my new yarn, I am offering 20% off all Silky Single yarn through October 1st. No code needed.

The Kings County Fiber Festival is an outdoor market for the fiber enthusiast! The setting is the historic Old Stone House of Brooklyn, located in picturesque Park Slope, on Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Aside from a variety of indie vendors — including dyers, felters, knitters, crocheters, quilters, spinners and weavers — the event will feature a talk and exhibit by crochet artist Nacinimod Deodee, moderated by textile developer Sahara Briscoe of Super String Theory Design.

We will also be collecting donations of handmade hats for the homeless.

Our Bag of the Month preorders have shipped and this Friday, September 20th we have all the extras on sale! These are our once-a-month, limited-edition bags and supplies! It’s an awesome opportunity for us to support and give exposure to indie artists and designers! We have four awesome fabrics to pick from! But hurry! These will sell out quick!

Issue 9 of Laine magazine is being released on Friday 20th September and the cover design is the Woodbine pullover made using our Bowland Aran and Eldwick Lace. Sadly, this might be the last issue of the magazine, but we are honoured to have been involved and wish the team all the best moving forward.

So… our next update will go live on Friday 20th September at 7 a.m. (UK time) and will include yarn packs for the Woodbine pullover in six colour combinations with options for the sizes as detailed in the pattern. Also included in the update are other batches of both Bowland Aran and Eldwick Lace which could also be used to select your own colours for this design. The yarn packs will appear on the home page on Friday morning so all you need to do is go to the website and you’ll see them. They work out at a pretty hefty discount compared to buying the yarn separately. If we sell out, please don’t panic — we can produce more. ???? We have also ordered a few copies of this issue of Laine to sell alongside the yarn packs!

This week also sees the fourth anniversary of the release of our Drift Collection. Follow us on social media to join in the celebrations including a discount to all products on the Drift Collection page of the website and a giveaway. To reintroduce the collection we also have a new blog post appearing on the website on Friday showing all the designs reinvigorated in Milburn DK!
