It’s about damn time, isn’t it? Our latest shop update includes our gorgeous new Sweater Weather Collection in both full sized Merino/Cashmere/nylon DK weight yarns and 80/20 Merino/nylon sock mini skeins. The shop is stocked with lots of fan favorites and a few new colorways:

Hunting Tartan is a mix of dramatic deep purples, greens and bronzey golds.
La Vie En Rose has soft rose, deep burgundy and golds.
Vintage is a silvery cream base with speckles of hot pink, deep oranges, aquas and browns and goes perfectly with the whole Sweater Weather collection.

Time to cast on! Winter is just around the corner.

I am making a limited number of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans 12 Days of Christmas Advent Calendar.

So what will be in these? Each pack will be 12 small packages, one larger package and a couple smaller, non-fiber surprises. Each of the smaller packages will have a different “flavor” Bertie Botts inside. You will receive approximately 2 oz. of botts and approximately 3 oz. of custom blend roving for a total of 5 oz. of fiber. This batch of botts will all have Romeldale/CVM wool from my farm and Angelina (sparkle), plus some other luxury fibers. The additional luxury fiber will vary from “flavor” to “flavor” and may include crossbred wool from my farm, bamboo, sari silk, Merino wool, Corriedale wool or Shetland wool.

I am shooting for 12 distinct “flavors,” a different “flavor” for each day. The larger package will be 3 oz. of small batch, custom blend roving inspired by the world of Harry Potter. The roving will contain Romeldale/CVM wool from my farm and Angelina along with luxury add-ins.

See the Etsy shop for complete details.

The Saxony Hat has all the options for a cable lover, or someone who’s just getting into the beauty of cable knitting: Instructions include directions for working flat or in the round. Use the included cable chart or work from full written instructions, whichever you prefer. And the hat looks great on both men and women.

The cable panel appears twice on the hat, separated by reverse stockinette stitch. Using Aran weight yarn, it knits up fast, and the cable is fun to work. This hat makes even plain yarn knit up into something you’ll want to wear every day.

Hi! I am Shauna and am the dyer behind Farm Girl Fibers. I started dyeing yarns in 2017 for myself and then this summer (2018) I decided to add hand dyed yarns to my shop. My family and I live on my husband’s family farm in Alpine, Tennessee. We are located about 100 miles northeast of Nashville in the Upper Cumberland area of middle Tennessee. So many of my colorways are inspired by nature and my life on a farm. My dream is to take my fiber business and turn it into a full-time career. I love creating and making things. So when I get to spend a day playing with dyes and colors to see what combinations I end up with, I just feel so fulfilled by the end of the day.

I had my first trunk show last month and had such a blast that day. So am looking forward to many more trunk shows and fiber festivals. Right now I am getting ready for Fiber in the Boro in Murfreesboro next month and hope to meet lots of yarn loving people there. The fiber community has been so supportive and I just love seeing how caring and supportive people are. I am so glad I found this community because it has really gave me the courage to start making my dream of owning a business a reality.

MidMitten Designs has teamed up with knitting friend Lisa Adcock of Splash of Color Yarns to create a special treat for knitters.

This week’s update is brought to you by two Indie Untangled makers who have teamed up to bring you the Koi Pond kit.

Alisa Beer of KnitSpinQuilt and Debbie Bresler of Murky Depths Dyeworks both live and work in New York City, and, ironically, met on Ravelry.

Alisa and Deb have teamed up to create a exclusive, limited-edition kit that spoke to both of them. It features one skein of fingering-weight yarn, dyed by Deb, and one medium drawstring project bag, sewn by Alisa. In line with Alisa’s habit of donating to charitable causes, 10% of the purchase price of each kit will be donated to RAICES to help in the ongoing effort to reunite migrant children with their parents. If all the kits sell out they will donate an additional 5% to RAICES for the excellent work they are doing in these troubled times.

When Deb suggested an aquatic theme, Alisa went on a deep dive (hah!) looking for the perfect fabric. After some consultation, she ended up with a subtle dark teal with kelp foliage and flashes of tonal and bright orange fish. The tops of the bags are a coordinating geometric print that Alisa bought on a whim, and which ended up being just what was needed to pull it all together.

The bags are made of 100% Kona Cotton — a fabric that is slightly denser and sturdier than most quilting fabrics, which is Alisa’s go-to for her bags. The bags are long wearing and machine washable. The ties are grosgrain ribbon, and each bag has a key ring you can attach a lanyard or carabiner hook to. The medium size bag is Alisa’s best seller and at 10” x 7” x 3” is big enough to hold three skeins of yarn.

The yarn is Murky Depths Deep Sock, a squishy 80% Merino/20% Nylon Superwash 3-ply that’s perfect for socks but next to skin soft — suitable for garments and accessories. Each skein is 100 grams/400 yards. This exclusive colorway was developed specially to match the project bag. In keeping with Deb’s moody style, the yarn is dyed in multiple tonal layers with little pops of goldfish orange peeking through.

This kit will be available for preorder from October 5 until October 25, and will start shipping on November 25. We know that’s a bit of time to wait, but we need to be certain we can deliver the highest-quality product possible, so we’re setting a conservative timeline to be sure! Additional options exist to substitute a large drawstring bag or add an additional skein of the yarn.

Nerd Bird Makery is a small online shop — with a home base in Portland, Oregon — specializing in unique goods for crafters.

The motivation for launching this shop was the desire to create diverse and inclusive products representing knitters of all backgrounds. Over the last year, we’ve been pretty fortunate to be able to donate some of the profits to causes we believe in, including women running in the midterm elections (Sharice Davids, Shireen Ghorbani and Lucy McBath), the ACLU and World Relief, an organization that works with refugees.

Our shop is currently stocked with enamel pins, apparel, totes and paper goods, including art prints, greeting cards and gift tags.

Interested in seeing our products in person? We have products in select local yarn shops across the U.S. and we will also be at Indie Untangled in the Canon Hand Dyes booth.

I’m celebrating the one-year anniversary of my rebrand and new website with a discount for everyone who’s helped make this year a success… and a free gift! Use code CELEBRATE for 10% off and a little extra treat through October 6th.

While Crafty Flutterby Creations has only been around for a year, I’ve been handcrafting a stunning and varied selection of shawl pins for over five years this April. The growth metamorphosis from Michelle’s Assortment to Crafty Flutterby Creations has been fabulous! I could not have done it without the continued support and friendship of this community! Join me for a trip down memory lane in the most recent blog post on my website.

To further celebrate I’ve added a new collection of Fantasy Creature Shawl Pins! Dragon scales in a variety of colors and a mermaid are the newest additions! Classic phoenix, dragon, and owl round out the collection.
