At Nice & Knit we’ve been pretty selective with your yarn bases and picky when adding new ones. We consider the weight, softness, twist, the ply, and how the finished knitted garment will look and feel when worn.

When we tested our latest sock base it was a star in all categories. Featuring 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon and over 460 yards per skein, this workhorse of a yarn will become your new favorite — it has for us. Yes, it’s perfect for socks, and also ideal for all your fingering weight shawls and sweaters you’ve been adding to your queue on Raverly!

Nice & Knit Sock is currently available online at niceandknit.com in over 50 colorways!

The Kemper Wrap was designed for By Hand Serial by Mara Bryner (Orange Knits) and we’ve put together some special kits for the release! These kits will be available through June 15th on the By Hand Serial website as a preorder to be delivered before August 1st. The Kemper Wrap combines three elements to make it a totally addictive knit: marling, mohair and a cool construction!

Come join us starting August 1st in the Junkyarn Ravelry group for a Kemper Wrap KAL. Mara will be stopping in occasionally to chat in the threads and we’ll have some lovely prizes to give away!

** Kemper Wrap Kits will also be available this weekend at the Junkyarn Trunk Show at the Knot House in Frederick, Maryland. I hope to meet some of you Maryland and DC-area knitters there! **

I’ve just completed a giant shop migration from my old website host to Shopify! There are lots of new colors on every base, including loads of my Lucky Pot colors (one-of-a-kind, totally nonrepeating colors). Update includes tonal solids, speckles, and softly variegated colors.

Also in this update is lots of Andromeda, the yarn used in my new Panier hat pattern (available on Ravelry).

Thanks for checking it out!

Jennifer

Sometimes, when I’m looking for inspiration for a new colorway, I browse pictures on Pinterest. I came across some pictures of pink and purple lotus flowers. Many of them were probably photoshopped, but still inspired me! Pink and purple are my favorite colors to dye with already, but this colorway turned out even more amazing than I thought it would! It is currently available on all three of my sock yarn bases, as well as DK and Worsted.

The June Mystery Sock Club listing is up but spots are limited. If you haven’t heard, we are hosting a monthly Mystery Club SockAlong over on our Ravelry group. There are prizes every month for the SockAlong, which you can enter by completing a sock (just one! Not a pair).

There will be lots of other goodies in the shop too, with the update happening this Saturday, 6/2 at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. There will be a ton of bright, summery hues and also some romantic blush tones to choose from. There will be some semisolids and tonals available in sweater quantities as well. Hope to see you guys at the update!

Happy Saturday, everyone! We are so excited to have beautiful sunny weather here in NY after days and days of gloomy rain, so what better way to celebrate this gorgeous holiday weekend than with a GIANT shop update?

Lots of your favorite bases and colors have been added to the shop this morning including our new Sadie Singles base, a 100% SW Merino single ply.

I don’t know about you, but sunny weather always has me wanting to knit up pretty lightweight shawls. Sadie Singles is absolutely perfect for these projects. It is airy, smooth, and the drape of the finished fabric is to die for. And get this… it doesn’t pill! Yes, you read tat right. This single ply has a high twist texture, which helps protect it form agitation, so it will stay put after knitting/crocheting/weaving, wearing and washing. Of course this also makes it perfect for current popular light weight colorwork sweaters ::wink wink::

Speaking of sweaters, there are plenty sweater quantities on tons of bases available and ready to ship!

I hope you can check it out today!

Exciting news at My Mama Knits!

Along with having some fabulous new colourways, we have a new web address. Having the new site has allowed us to offer a better variety of items, including single mini skeins in a variety of sizes from 5 to 20 grams. Build your own set, sample a colourway or add a pop of colour to your project.

For the UV reactive lovers, we have been working to include photos of our popular black light yarns under natural and UV light, so you can plan your fluorescent effects to perfection.

Check out the new site at mymamaknits.com.

Mirage, my newest base, has me totally enthralled. Aptly named, the play of light off the silk core seen through the shimmering halo of mohair creates a magical aura of color and texture.

It’s technically categorized as lace weight, but versatile enough to knit or crocheted with a wide range of needle or hook sizes for various effects. Work on its own or combine with another fiber and the possibilities are endless.

The first five colors, shown here, are now live in my shop. More to come in the next few weeks, because I just can’t stop thinking about this stuff!

Perfect for holding shawls in place on breezy summer afternoons, these new shawl pins are both stunning and practical. All pins feel as light as a butterfly alighting onto your shawl. They are sturdy enough to stay in place and light enough not to weigh lace shawls down. The Shimmering Violet Noteworthy Pin will keep you on trend with the Pantone color of the year. The shimmering shades in this pin look gorgeous on many shades of blue, indigo, violet, lavender and lilac.

See these pins in person Memorial Day Weekend at the Great Lakes Fiber Show in Wooster, Ohio. Or June 1st & 2nd at the Hoosier Hills Fiber Festival in Franklin, Indiana. See the events tab on my website for full list of events.
