The Spring feeling! Tulips from a friend sparked the fresh creative feeling and I created my Spring stripe sock yarn. It is 450 yards and creates nice size stripes on socks! Available only on my website in a limited quantity and ready for preorder and shipped out the beginning of June. Visit yarn/online only section of the website.

The Chancellors Sheep & Wool Showcase in Clermont, N.Y., on April 21 (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) marks the start of the new fiber season. It’s so great to see old friends and meet new ones! It’s a very small show, but it is a great day and the scenery is just beautiful at the Clermont State Historic Site along the Hudson River. I hope if you are near the area you will come on out and enjoy the day. It’s one of the best things to see and talk to knitters, crocheters and fiber artists and see all the creative minds together in one place.

Not only is April 21 the Sheep & Wool Showcase but it is also Local Yarn Shop day! I hope you will all get out and support the local yarn shops — we don’t want them to go away. We need to support them so they will be there when we need classes, advice, supplies and of course for a knitting emergency! Lots of local yarn shops are having special events that day. Maybe while you are in the LYS you can ask about indie dyers that need your support, too!

Since Local Yarn Store Day is April 21, let’s celebrate our small business owners who specialize in yarn! Not only do they create havens of inspiration, friendship and learning, small businesses are so important for the fiber of our community (in more ways than one).

If you buy yarn for my pattern “Local Yarn Shawl” on April 21 from any of the participating LYSs, you will be given the pattern for free. Many local yarn stores are doing special yarns for this, or you may of course choose your own.

The shawl comes in two sizes. Here, it is shown in one 560-yard skein of Fifty Shades of Gradient by Fiber Studio (the small shawl) or you may use two skeins of fingering weight yarn with at least 360 yards each. The large shawl is shown here in Primrose Yarn Company Sophia (the peach and pink) and Anzula Cloud (the white and purple).

Please take the time to visit your local yarn store on April 21 and support them with some love and yarn purchases.

The second installment in the Cardigans of the Galaxy series, this comfortable, open front cardi is inspired by the character of Rocket in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie series.

A genetically modified raccoon, Rocket makes an unlikely superhero. He’s irritated that he doesn’t fit in anywhere, but there’s no confusion over his feelings for money (spoiler: he loves it). Rocket’s cardigan is a nod to both: He gets a top-down, cardi that’s the color of money (gold and green) with a diamond lace-and-cable motif that weaves in and out of a broken rib pattern. Mosaic Moon has just moved to a new online home. We’ve stocked lots of new items, including a whole lot of rovings today, April 6th! We carry wool and wool blends such as Polwarth and Merino, as well as luxury fibers such as camel, silk and yak.

Updated features on the site include customer accounts — fill in our info once, no need to re-enter each time you shop. Your account will let you access past orders on the new site as well as allow you to track your shipments. Our search feature is fabulous, and the top navigation bar allows you to shop by yarn weight and type, making finding your favorites easy! Share listings by clicking on the social media sharing buttons at the bottom of each listing page.

Don’t you love a good pair of embroidery snips? I collect them and tend to keep a fancy pair in every knitting bag because they make me smile when I get to do exciting things like changing colors, or when I have to do tedious things like weave in ends.

We just added a whole lot of gorgeous colorways and adorable snips to the shop and just because it’s fun and because we can, we have a special offer going on. Our colorways Dusty Rose and Tres Bien are sultry and sophisticated and inspired by imaginary strolls along the Seine. So when you purchase a skein of each, we’ll send along a pair of Eiffel Tower snips. You’ll have a set for a perfectly Parisian project!

The inspiration for one of our most popular colorways, Rainy Days, is pretty self explanatory. When you purchase two skeins in this colorway on any base we’ll send along a pair of Big Ben snips since London gets more than their fair share of drizzle. Mr. McMullin proposed on a long walk in the rain, so rainy days always give me a reason to smile (and an excuse to stay inside and knit)!

Rose Cardigan fade kits are here!

Andrea Mowry has done it again! The Rose cardigan is an open front cardi with cables, positive ease, and a beautiful fade from sleeve to back. It’s so pretty, we just had to put together some kits for you!

We’ve added three new fade kits designed to create this cardigan in sizes XS-L (sizes specified).

Kit #1, #2 and #3 are all made to produce a fade that starts light on the back and ends dark at the sleeves, similar to the original design. All the color combinations are nuetral with pops and hints of exciting colors!

The base is a squishy 100% SW Merino 3-ply sport weight, brand new to Lambstrings Yarn, and we love it! This base is lightweight and warm, practical for spring and light enough to wear into the summer.
