“I knit objects as I think them, not as I see them.”

I am celebrating my fifth year of artist-inspired yarn clubs and am very excited to be featuring Pablo Picasso this year! He has a hugely diverse body of work and selecting just 12 works was very difficult but I did it! Each month of 2025 I will be creating a yarn colorway inspired by one of his works, starting with his earliest and ending with his last. Each month’s colorway will come with a fun fact card that is all about the work in question and/or his life at that time.

Check out the images and see what you recognize! This year is going to be a bit muted at the start but will progress into some really fun colors.

Subscribers have a choice of just yarn ($30) or yarn+fun ($45). Both come with fact cards but the fun tier comes with stitch markers and extra goodies related to yarn craft and/or the artwork. Subscribers also have their choice from several yarn bases, ranging from fingering to worsted, and will receive discounts on extra skeins each month if they wish.

The cutoff to subscribe and start in January is January 19 (end of day). Any subscriptions after that will start the following month. Alternatively, if you aren’t up for a full commitment, I will be offering preorders of skeins each month — follow me to stay in the loop! All packages ship between the 28th and the 2nd to allow for dye time and life.

Questions? Please send me an email — I am happy to help!

Get a sneak peek into the Swan City Yarns dye studio with a subscription to the Dyeing To Knit Facebook Group. This three-month subscription gets you a mystery colorway each month for three months on the base of your choice, inspired by that month’s theme. 2025 is all about the classics, with the first three-month subscription celebrating classic authors: Harper Lee, the Brontë sisters, and Louisa May Alcott.

Once in the Facebook group, you’ll have access to other videos with me sharing behind-the-scenes footage and commentary about what’s going on in the dye studio!

If you’re still gift shopping or looking for a personal treat, we’ve got lots in the shop at the moment including restocks of our World’s Beyond colourways. New mini skein sets, mystery skein baubles, pins, jewellry and sticker sheets!

New to the shop, a Christmas Yarny Special: an ornament/bauble gift box! This is the perfect gift; you have the option of a mystery skein of yarn in a base/weight of your choosing. Pick your base yarn from the list on the TVY website and leave special instructions if you would like to include a gift message. These will be posted out ready packed so you can have it for your tree or gift the present as is.

Our Rose Goblin yarn and stitch marker set gives you sparkly skeins of reds, oranges and pinks with teals and greens. The stitch markers themselves are polyhedral dice with a similar color scheme, inspired by dice sets that I would love to own myself!

Our Storm Geode jewellry set is comprised of bar necklaces and bar or stud earrings! The Storm Geode jewellry is inspired by geode dice sets with encrusted gems that look like they have lightning storms inside of them. With a cool purple backing, a full polyhedral set is featured with a white and light blue lightning storm. (This design also comes as stitch markers!)

Looking for a medium-sized project bag? The Luna hand-dyed project bags have a supportive strap across the bag making it very easy to carry . Suitable for two-skein shawls, or will comfortably fit up to three skeins of 100g DK-weight yarn.

In dire need of decorating your tech or stationary? We have our Pride Potions and I Need More Dice! sticker sheets for all the fantasy nerds and dice goblins.

We’ll still be posting throughout last posting dates but keep in mind! They’ll most likely be arriving after holidays.

If you’re anything like me, you’re already a little bit exhausted from the run up to the holidays. Whether you’re trying to juggle transportation for an endless stream of school concerts or looking for the perfect gift, don’t forget to take a few minutes for yourself.

My downtime has always included knitting. The rhythm of the needles centers me every time. I have some lovely handmade project bags on my website ready to ship right now to help you get back your holiday spirit. There are winter and holiday themed options, as well as bags that will keep your work safe and portable year round.

I’ve also have a number of smaller items that would make thoughtful gifts, like the sweetest fish-shaped zipper bags. They’re perfect for needles and notions, or pens, or cords and chargers, or makeup, or whatever you might need to keep organized. I hope you’ll find something you love.

Fleece Your Feet is a fun sock pattern that calls for holding two fingering weight yarns together to get a DK-weight yarn — however, a single DK strand works just fine as well. As written, the pattern combines the warmth and softness of alpaca with the structure and stitch memory provided by a Merino/nylon blend. Use two skeins of the same colorway for a harmonious blend, or two contrasting colors for fun visual interest.

We have LOTS of new fiber in the shop for spinning! Holiday inspired colors, sparkle fiber, etc. All fun options for starting that new spin with the glow of holiday lights nearby! There are also an abundance of new tonal fiber to choose from. These are great to pair with single braids you may purchase or have in your stash. Pairing with a single braid will give you double the yardage! Check out what’s new here.

In order to make room for brand new things in 2025, we have also been cleaning up in the studio. This means a bunch of new SALE items (both yarn and fiber) have been added to the sale section of our shop. It included one-of-a-kind (OOAK) skeins and braids, as well as Oopsie skeins of yarn. They have been slightly misdyed, but are otherwise perfectly good yarn… at a heavy discount! It’s a good opportunity to try a new to you yarn/fiber base.

We have also added gift cards to the shop!

Happy Holidays everyone!! I look forward to sharing lots of fun new things with you in the new year!!

At the end of her life, Georgia O’Keeffe returned to simple watercolors, this peice being one of her last. “Abstraction Green Line and Red Circle” features just that. The yarn is a flow of green and red with an undyed cream color at the bottom

For our last colorway of 2024, orders must be placed by the end of the day December 15th, so I can dye and ship by December 22nd. Buyers will have their choice of my usual bases for this fun, somewhat Christmas-themed colorway.

These orders will include a fact card about the artwork. All other extras are for subscribers only.

Stay tuned, my 2025 artist will be revealed after Christmas!
