“East Bound” is a new shawl from Michele Costa of 144 Stitches designed special using one skein of out DK Yak/Silk/Merino and 8 of our DK Superwash Merino/nylon minis. It was originally designed for our 12 Days Of Christmas in July Advent Kit. Shawl kits are now available for this gorgeous shawl. There is both a knit and crochet version. Bonus: the pattern is included in the shawl kit! Free shipping with code INDIE.

I know, I know. Its only July. It’s about this time every year that my mind starts wandering into images of cool weather with such a chill that makes me happily reach for a bit of knitted comfort. So I am thrilled to announce that my Poseidon Super-Bulky single-ply yarn has been born!

This base is kettle dyed in small batches so no two skeins are alike. The feedback on this yarn has been so positive that I had to make a pattern for it. My Anemone Cowl is now available FREE for a limited time both on my website and on Ravelry. It is the perfect companion to this giant skein of luxurious, squishy yarn! If you want a super fun, quick knit with just a little bling – this pattern is for you!

I incorporated both the Channel Islands Cast On and Bind Off for this cowl and the results are stunning. The overall texture of this cowl is meant to show off the beauty of variegated yarns. You are of course free to use whichever super bulky yarn tickles your fancy, but I would love it if you would tag me on Instagram @maelstromfiberarts when you post pictures of your project!

You can download the pattern for free through the end of July at maelstromfiberarts.com and on Ravelry. Happy Knitting!

Ardelia is a new shawl design by K.M. Bedigan. Named for the 17th-century composer Lady Mary Dering, this graceful fingering weight shawl combines brioche and lace into an elegant botanical design.

Worked from the top down, this semicircular shawl combines two yarns in the brioche sections before transitioning to a simple lace border.

Kit is available in six color options of Wayfaring Yarns Europa (56% Extrafine Merino / 44% Superkid Mohair, 393.75 yds / 360 m per 100g) and Sophia Kidsilk Lace (70% Ultrafine Kid Mohair / 30% Mulberry Silk, 458 yds / 420 m per 50g)

Myrtle Beach – mid toned teal
Pink Sands Beach – silvery pink
Sundance – soft lilac
Naples – summery yellow
Catoctin – deep burgundy
Portobello Road – fresh summer green

Europa and Sophia are part of the WayfaringYarns line, Sweater Sisters’ in-house yarn hand dyed by Selena in Alta, Wyoming.

Do you love the idea of a mystery knit along, but kind of prefer to know what your project should look like while you’re making it? If so, this is going to be the perfect fit for you.

Lena of SoftYarn Designs has created a gorgeous and unique two-color shawl pattern with Jilly & Kiddles yarn. We are offering kits on our website which include the yarn and a code to download your copy of SoftYarn Designs Mermaids in the Waves shawl pattern from Ravelry. Bonus: you save $5 on the set when you order the kit from us! ust choose the set you love most and you’ll have everything you need to make this fun two color shawl. (If you want the original colors, you’ll want to order the King Triton set.)

The pattern will be a “mystery” until it’s released on July 28th. Once it’s released, you’ll be able to see the shawl, so you can knit along with confidence. In the meantime, preorder your kit now and it will arrive in plenty of time for the KAL kickoff on 7/28! Use your code to download the pattern on that date, and you’ll be ready to go. Lena is hosting a chat group for the KAL and there will be prizes, too. I can’t wait to see all of your beautiful shawls and get to know you during the KAL!

Kits are available in the Featured section of the home page.

(This item is a dyed-to-order PREORDER. Kits will ship between July 20th and 25th. Orders will be dyed and filled in the order they are received. You must order by July 20th to assure delivery by the kickoff date; kits ordered after that date may not arrive in time, but will be fulfilled as quickly as possible.)

Feeling the need for some comfort knitting? I got you. Viandar uses those mini-skeins you can never resist, and gorgeous garter stitch short rows, to create a stack of colour wedges that settle around your neck just so. It’s a very soothing project, perfect to pack in your holiday bag (or take to the pool). So simple, there’s really nothing else to say except that it’s 20% off until Sunday, June 28!

Lyrical Knits’ latest sweater pattern is designed to help you use up a skein or two of variegated sock yarn, minis, or even Fade leftovers. The colorwork pattern involves occasional slipped stitches, and you only ever use one strand of yarn on any round. The pattern is 30% off through June 22nd with no coded needed — the discount will be taken in your cart.

I love color. I mean, I REALLY LOVE color. A lot. As a small-batch indie dyer, I get my inspiration from the world around me. This summer, my little patio garden where I like to relax in the morning with my coffee is an explosion of blooms. This wonderful place is where I got the inspiration for my latest preorder colorways! “Barefoot in the Grass,” “Bourbon & Lime” and “Luminous” are the latest beauties to come out of my dye pots. Once ordered, they will be ready to ship in around two weeks.

We are also doing a first-time-EVER special October Mystery Gift Box! I have been planning this forever and ever and it has finally materialized! Although I can’t spill ALL the tea, I can tell you that it is a spooky-themed mystery weaving project with a bit of knitting incorporated into it (you must be able to knit in the round to complete the project according to the pattern.) It is super fun to do and will make a STUNNING wall decoration for that big Halloween party!

The kit includes yarn, pattern, accessories, loom frames and extra goodies. Once you open the box you are all ready to go — the only things you will need are your knitting needles, hooks and scissors. It makes a wonderfully unique and fun gift! There are a limited number of kits being produced this year so don’t miss out! The order deadline is September 15, 2020, and boxes start shipping on October 1!

HAPPY HALLOWEAVE!

We’re delighted to share our collaboration with our dear friend Sara of La Cave à Laine!

To celebrate the release of Tavolozza, a cozy shawlette that Sara has designed with our yarns, we’ll have a special shop update with lots of bundles, that were to be brought to Woollin – Ireland’s Festival of Yarn this weekend.

The yarn required for this mindless, relaxing summer shawl consists of a full skein of A Heavenly Blend in undyed Avena Heathery Pearl and three minis of A Chic Blend in different combinations we chose from our hand dyed palette, including some shades of the From Home Collection.

The gorgeous kits will include yarn and a code to download the shawl pattern on Ravelry, plus you’ll be able to choose between a hand-sewn zippered pouch or a hand-dyed organic cotton tote bag that Sara prepared for this special collab.

We assembled many yarns + accessory options to cover a wide range of colors from bold to pastel, but please note that they’re all limited quantities, as we’ve composed for this occasion from hand-dyed yarn and handcrafted accessories.

Kits will go live on our web shop on Friday, June 12 at 6 p.m. CEST

Some details you may find useful:

Pouches are made of 100% cotton, are hand sewn in different fabrics and feature a full zippered closure and multiple pockets inside.

Totes are made of 100% sturdy organic cotton, feature two long handles and are hand dyed in subtle gradients with fibre reactive dyes.

A Heavenly Blend is made of:
50% Aquilana wool
25% Italian alpaca
25% Italian cashmere

A Chic Blend is made of:
60% Brogna wool
20% Italian alpaca
20% Italian mohair

Fingering (uk 4 ply) weight; Mini skeins are 20g – 90 m – Gauge: 10cm in 24-26 sts and 3,5mm needles

Please remember that each hand dyed batch is fairly unique because we apply several layers of colors, to get the perfect deep hues of our range.

We’re a coven of two yarn witches trying to craft fiber magic. It’s a long distance coven, so we thought we’d open it up to yarn witches across the globe so we can spread our black magics far and wide.
