August 25th is National Kiss and Make Up Day!

Here it is. August 25th. You’ve had the date circled on your calendar all year because surely today they would say those three little words you’ve been dying to hear: “You were right.”

But it’s okay, because once again, we are here for you! And this survival kit, this one is our favorite. Like the third date, this one says “I was a sap to stick it out this long.”

Or maybe the third date finally brings you chocolate. Kiss and Make Up!

This clubs includes:

• A hand-painted sock blank as the yarn,
• An extra special locally made fabric item,
• And something we are so completely enameled, errrr, enamored with, it might be hard to part with them!

The quilt picture above is the inspiration and theme — #grellow

The Yarnover Truck’s Super Nerdy Yarn Club is open to new members until Wednesday, July 17th! This club is a deep dive into Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. We are exploring six characters through beautiful hand-dyed yarn by the talented Leann from Forbidden Fiber Co.

This is a yarn-only club, so we have kept the price down, but unlike most other clubs, you will be introduced to the colors before they ship and asked if you want to add more to your stash. Along with the yarn, we will showcase some great knit and crochet single-skein pieces so you’ll have some inspiration of what to make with the one-of-a-kind beauties!

Get all the details and sign-up on our site.

I have just released my 96th pattern and will be teaching at the New York Sheep and Wool Festival. One class is sold out, but my half-day shawl design class on Saturday still has open seats.

The purple gradient shawl is Tanner to Pacific in White Birch Fiber Arts

Contest ends on Sunday, July 7th, Midnight EST. Winner will be chosen by random generator and announced Monday! (Winner must have a U.S. address for shipping purposes for this giveaway).

Good Luck! ????????????????????

I love contrast! One of my favorite, and simultaneously overwhelming, tasks is combing colorways to create contrast in my knitting projects.

My first memories of falling in love with color come from visiting the clothing store at “back to school” shopping time. I loved seeing the displays, but I always wanted one of each color from the tempting spread of merchandise. Choosing just one felt impossible!

As a dyer, one of my favorite things is to create sets of colorways that work well together, and as a result, I’ve been told that my palette is one of my best skills. I really enjoy putting bundles together and helping people choose colorways for their projects.

Today’s featured project is the Walking On A Dream sock pattern from Kalurah Hudson of While They Play Designs. It includes contrasting toes and cuffs along with lovely cables, and an interesting heel construction technique.

I have a fresh batch of sock sets perfect for knitting this (or any pattern that uses contrast) all ready to go in my shop. I hope you’ll take a peek and find something that makes you happy.

Have a Hand-Dyed Happy day,
Heather Jane

Here in the UK and across Europe, temperatures are soaring and we know from personal experience that the last thing you want to be working with is thick, heavy yarn. We have the perfect antidote for that in our next update, which will be taking place at 7pm (UK time) on Friday 5th July and will feature Titus Lace. Titus Lace is a beautiful, shimmery, soft and smooth 2ply laceweight. The merino is superwash (although we recommend you handwash anything made in laceweight yarn) and together with the silk content creates great stitch definition and a fabric with great drape.

Friday 5th July also sees the release of part two of the Four Seasons Collection, our collaboration with Jaya (@jayalakshmimh on Instagram). The Sun and Shower shawl is a circular shawl knit from the centre outwards using Titus Lace in new colourway Sunrise. Members of the subscription club have already been sent their boxes containing a printed copy of the pattern, the yarn required for the design plus a few specially selected goodies. In the update we will also have individual boxes for this design and copies of the printed pattern available on the website. Subscriptions to the club are also still open and if you sign up now you will receive both the Echoing Green and the Sun and Shower boxes now and then the Autumn and Winter boxes will be sent to you ahead of their respective pattern releases. Four more information about the collection head over to our Blog and search Four Seasons.

We have an exciting new page on the website which showcases all the beautiful pattern designs we have been involved with. It can be accessed from the Blog drop down menu at the top of the website, just click on the Design Collaborations link which features at the top left of the drop down menu. On the page you will also find links to the patterns and ways to follow the designers.

Over the summer we are doing things a bit differently with smaller but more frequent updates. Last week saw one of these mini-updates featuring Oakworth DK, our New Zealand Polwarth yarn. There is still a lovely selection of colourways available on the website so check them out before they go! We love this yarn but feel it can be overlooked for the better known Merino and BFL based yarns. If you would like to find out more about the incredible Polwarth sheep from which our Oakworth DK comes, enter Polwarth into the Blog search to find our blog post about them.
