Our intense show period is now done until May so we are getting all the new yarn on the website and will be caught up early next week. New batches of yarn going on the website include Brimham 4ply (Merino/nylon), Bowland Aran (Bluefaced Leicester), Nateby 4ply (Merino/nylon/silver Lurex) and Keld Fingering (Merino/linen). There are lots of colours to choose from with plenty of combinations that will also be added to the website.

Keld Fingering is already on the website with combinations of three colours ready for the release of Laine Issue 20, on Friday 15th March. Lily Kate France has a design in the issue called Peppy Scarf, using Keld Fingering in Heliotrope, Mellifer and Rust. We have yarn packs of this combination and other combinations of two tonal colours with a pop colour. Laine is available from many other retailers.

Keld Fingering is a firm favourite of ours and is really versatile. To find out more about this fantastic yarn check out our blog posts about it; an introduction to the yarn here and projects and patterns inspiration here.

It’s spring cleaning time at the Sweet Paprika dye studio as we get ready for our annual Mystery Bag Sale coming up on Sunday March 17th!

We’ll be putting together a variety of Mystery Bags, which may include single skeins at the end of a dyelot, one-of-a-kind colours, or seconds, all bundled up and offered to you at a discount.

All mystery bags will be listed on our website at 2pm EDT on March 17th with a general description, but for those of you who prefer a little less suspense in your yarn shopping we’ll be going live on Zoom at 2pm to show the contents of each bag in more detail and answer any questions you may have. We also have some door prizes to give away, so don’t miss this virtual party!

In previous years we’ve sold out within an hour, so set your alarm and bookmark the sale page to make sure you don’t miss out. Hope to see you there!

The March colorway of the Georgia O’Keeffe Yarn Club is now open for skein-only preorders. This month we are celebrating an early flower painting, “Red Canna,” from 1918. The yarn features greens, yellows, blues and a huge pop of red and pink.

Orders will consist of the featured colorway in the base of your choice and a fact card about the artwork. If you would like more fun items, you are welcome to subscribe to the monthly club here.

Orders cut off on March 23rd, allowing time for me to dye yarn and get it shipped out between the 28th and the 2nd.

We are currently offering a STELLAR deal on Mystery Bags! Each bag will contain three skeins of yarn for just $24! You will also receive a free reusable shopping bag with your purchase.

You choose the base and we will send you three skeins on that base. These colors will be a total mystery to you. The majority of the skeins are tonals. They would be great for socks, colorwork, or any accessories like shawls, cowls and hats! If you have requests, please put a note on your order, and we will do our best to make it happen! No promises though, as we will take these in the order they come.

These are in stock and will ship ASAP!
Mystery Bags are final sale.

LYS Day 2024 is fast approaching and, once again, I’m gearing up to celebrate everything I adore about local yarn shops. These cozy havens serve as more than just stores — they’re vibrant hubs where fiber enthusiasts gather to share their love and passion for all things yarn.

Established by TNNA members, Local Yarn Store Day is an annual homage to brick-and-mortar yarn shops. Now in its seventh year, this special day, slated for April 27th, is a testament to our collective support for small businesses and a unique opportunity to unite knitters, crocheters, weavers, and spinners in celebrating our craft. Both vendors and retailers are joining forces to showcase the distinct advantages of locally-owned yarn shops through an enticing array of special products, classes, and more. As one of these proud participants, I’m thrilled to contribute to the festivities once again.

The event has seen remarkable success in recent years, and I’m delighted to continue my involvement for the fifth consecutive year. Let’s ensure that LYS Day 2024 surpasses all expectations by spreading the word far and wide! Help me champion yarn shops across the U.S. and Canada by sharing your favorites with me using this form. You can even include a heartfelt “Love Letter” to express why they hold a special place in your heart.

I’ll personally extend invitations to them, inviting them to partake in this joyous occasion.

Together, let’s make LYS Day 2024 an unforgettable celebration of community, creativity, and the enduring charm of local yarn shops!

For this week’s newest addition, we’ve added a new color to our popular Sew on Tag lineup. Introducing: Ash Grey! This stunning new color is ready to adorn your beautiful work. For their grand debut, we’ve added this new color to all of the available options.

Each cork tag is laser etched so the details will never wash out or fade away. Cork is a renewable resource. It can safely be hand washed and air dried. All you need is a little bit of yarn, needle, and scissors to add a heartfelt message to any project.

Our Sweater Tags give you a quick way to easily identify the back of your sweater or other style of top. Whether this is a struggle for you or someone you gift a project to, these tags are just the ticket.

For the direct approach, we have ‘This is the Back.’ For subtle sass, we present you with ‘Not the Front.’ Or go for a mixed set of both. Which option is calling your name?

I was a knitter long before I was a dog mom. As when welcoming any new member of the family, adjustments had to be made with his arrival. I love knitting with wool, and Jake loved the smell of sheep. He soon learned that I had tasty woolly snacks all over the house, some rolled into balls perfect for munching, and some worked into elaborate meals with sleeves that could be dragged around and enjoyed slowly. Jake’s not with us anymore, but his love of woolly snacks came rushing back when I saw this fabric with it’s well-behaved, warm and cozy pooches. I thought of how they can look so innocent one second and tear your hard work to shreds the next, and the Bad Dog, No No! project bag followed. I embroidered a cozy sweater in Jake’s favorite, wool, over one of the dogs, and added a little snack to his too-innocent face. This is truly one of a kind, and the perfect bag for the “if you know, you know” knitter out there.

I’ve also added an extra large bag to my most recent drop, perfect for blanket projects or carrying several projects at once. New stitch markers and framed bags round out this pretty collection. Please have a look, and be sure to keep your projects safe from your beloved best friend.

Everyone loved our rich, beautiful Dark & Dusky Trio last week. We decided we weren’t done exploring the beautiful teal, gold, and deep chocolate raspberry palette. So, this week we bring you the Dark & Dusky Party Pack! Along with the original shades of Teal the Cows Come Home, Copper and Dark Chocolate Raspberry, you’ll find a generous helping of coordinating colors in a mini skein party pack. Choose our Alcott, fingering weight base or Hawthorne, our DK base. There’s enough gorgeous color here for a mini-skein project or to delightfully color heels, cuffs and toes on lots of socks.

We’ve got a restock of our luxurious Woolf base, a grey alpaca, silk and cashmere blend. More gorgeous neutrals for year-round elegance: Cavendish, Hiberna, Heirloom, and Pomp & Circumstance. Click here to see all the beautiful colors of Woolf.

Coffee and crafts go hand in hand, and we’ve got delicious Knit. Coffee in the shop for you. Knitter’s Blend is a whole bean Italian roast coffee with a low-acid, smooth taste. Pick up one for you and one for a friend.

New from Eucalan is an unscented balm formulated for hands and joints that work. This deeply nourishing formula provides hydration and immediate relief to dry, chapped skin. Multi-purpuse, it can be used on hands, feet, elbows, cuticles, heels, and hair. Treat yourself.

The Getaway Gang is another little treat from Eucalan for your fine fabrics. Packed in a travel case are 10 of Eucalan’s delicate wash in single-use pods, six stain treatment towelettes, a nail file, and a basic sewing kit. What a great travel item! Get yours before your next trip.

And don’t forget to join us every Saturday morning at 9:30 am eastern time for our YouTube live The Traveling Two Ewe Knit. We talk about yarn, patterns, colors, WIPS and lots of yarny fun. We hope you’ll join us.
