I’m so excited to announce my Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Advent Box!

I have been obsessed with this movie since my mother took me for the first time at 16. So when I started thinking about creating an advent, it was a no-brainer for me to pick this theme. I can’t wait to share all the yarns with you, dyed to reflect the characters, lines from the movies and some of those iconic songs (did someone say “Time Warp”?)

The advents will include:
* Twelve 87 yard/20 gram mini skeins
* One fingering-weight full skein
* Stitch markers from Monster Stitches
* Wool Wash
* Candy (cuz, duh it’s Halloween)
* And other surprise goodies!

Advents will ship by the end of September so you have them in time to open up in October and for Halloween!

Our monthly subscription box is so much fun!

This month’s colorway is called: May Flowers. We wanted to celebrate spring and found the most adorable charms for the exclusive stitch markers!

With our subscription box, you pick the yarn weight, we pick the colorway. And as long as you are a subscriber to the club, you get discounts on the ENTIRE site! It is the perfect gift for yourself or for your favorite fiber artist in your life!

Happy April!

I hope you have been able to start the month without falling victim to too many jokes and pranks. Personally I only fell for one — by my husband and our dear dog Hestia (yes, she helped him and I can’t even be mad because she was a good girl and did exactly as he had told her).

But back to fibery things!

Today I have both a new yarn and also some fibers for you. As always I started with the raw fleece and then washed, combed, spun and dyed everything myself.

Let’s start with the yarn Sunset Sky!
All the pretty colors in the evening sky are what inspired me to dye this colorway. Blue, orange, pink — this yarn has it all and in so many different tones and shades. It is a joyful burst of color for all those spring days that might be too rainy to truly enjoy time outdoors.

Here are the details of the yarn:
– 277m (303 yards)
– 120g (4.2oz)
– Weight: Sport (17 WPI), category 2 (fine)
– 100% wool (Corriedale)
– $37.50 per skein

Unlike the new yarn, the new fiber braid is carded (but both are made from the same fleece). It is the result of using a dye bath that didn’t exhaust completely and such a lovely salmon color! It is every so slightly textured, meaning it will give your yarn some extra character, without drifting off too far into the art yarn area (though you can of course still use it to make art yarn as well).

Here are the details of Salmon:
– 55g (1.9oz)
– 100% wool (Corriedale)
– $10 per braid

You can find both Sunset Sky and Salmon on my website.

And if you want to be among the first to get notified about new updates AND receive exclusive discounts (including free shipping), consider becoming a fiber pack member by subscribing to my (free) monthly newsletter here.

Enjoy your crafts!

For most people, the coming spring brings to mind flowers, new grass springing up, beaches, fun in the pool and all things warm. For a yarnie, the end of winter marks when you begin to an all the wonderful things you want to make for the NEXT winter, all the holiday gifts you want to create, and for a dyer, what on earth are you going to do for this year’s Advent?!?

Our advents will be releasing shortly, so have no fear, but in the meantime we have oodles of amazing new shawl kits, blanket kits and colorwork kits for hats and mittens! Tired of trying to decide what colors work best with each other? We have you covered!

I don’t know about you, but I recently discovered the joys of assigned pooling, and I have to say, it’s completely taken over both my dye room and my WIPs. Sorry to the three pairs of socks I was working on, but it’s just simply amazing to watch something so neat as assigned pooling create a simply stunning garment! We’ve released two colorways designed specifically for assigned pooling (although you’re welcome to use them in any other project you’ll like!) and we promise there will be more to come!

So dive in, and while you’re at it, enjoy 20% off all our solid color Peruvian Highland Wool and 10% off all other yarn purchases! Make sure to check out our amazing handmade sock project bags, as well as our larger knitting tote bags!

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, we have some pretty spectacular announcements coming up that you won’t want to miss, and right now we are running a giveaway for a free shawl pattern and, possibly even a free skein of yarn!

Yarncentrick is a new pop-up happening on Friday, May 6, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in Mt Airy, Maryland. This one-day event will showcase more than 20 indie dyers, artisans and small creative businesses in an outdoor setting under covered pavilions. The grounds are paved and accessible and there is plenty of parking. Here’s a peek at some of the vendors. Get your ticket and find the full vendor list at yarncentrick.com.

The spring equinox is upon us. Huzzah! I’m sure many of us are looking forward to warmer temperatures and hopefully fewer gray days. So, I thought I’d take the opportunity to mark the change of seasons in a few ways:

To start Crafter Gamer Geek will be having its first sale! From Friday 3/18 through Sunday 3/20 many of the items in the shop will be 15% off. No code is required, eligible items will be automatically discounted at checkout. Orders of $35 or more always qualify for free shipping to US customers.

Next up, I’m releasing three new sock sets inspired by characters from Genshin Impact. These new colorways are called Divine Strategist, Unluckiest Adventurer, and Conqueror of Demons. Each set includes one 100g skein (approx. 437 yards) and one 20g skein (approx. 87 yards). That’s 524 yards of 85/15 merino nylon squishy goodness! Each of these new colorways has its own vibe that I am just absolutely loving. I hope they resonate with you as well! These new sets will be added to the shop on Friday morning.

The new sock sets will not be part of the weekend sale, BUT I’ll be holding a special giveaway starting Monday 3/21 on Instagram. I will be giving away one of each set. Make sure you’re following @craftergamergeek so you don’t miss your chance to win!

Happy equinox everyone!

The first three months of the year have been racing by, and today it was finally 56 degrees in the frozen tundra of Minnesota! While I’ve lived here long enough to know that we may still get dumped on with snow a couple more times, the sunshine and birds chirping today helped to remind me that spring is REALLY on its way!

Our Summer Knitting box is nearly sold out, so if you want to grab 24 stunning mini skeins, along with some really fun full-size gifts, head on over and grab yours before they’re gone! We are offering two different bases, both our Basic 75/25 Merino Nylon Sock and our MCN sock, which features some truly squishy Merino Cashmere (and is my personal favorite!).

Several new colorways have been released in the last couple weeks, including several from the start of our Outlander Subscription box. We don’t release these skeins until a full six months has passed from when they were originally released, and when they’re gone, they’re gone! While they don’t come with the fun Outlander-themed gifts, you can always grab our most recent month’s Outlander Box as a single purchase, or sign up for either a three- or six-month subscription. For those Outlander fans who are eagerly anticipating each weeks episode of Season 6, I can promise you that this month’s box will be a lot of fun!

Our Game of Thrones-themed line has just been released as well, with the first three of nine planned colorways having just hit the shop. Grab a skein of our stunning “Mother of Dragons” or take a stab at knitting something fun with “And Now His Watch is Ended.” Both are available on both our Basic Sock as well as our MCN Sock.

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram for discounts, giveaways and shop updates, and if you’re a TikTok fan, get ready, because we are about to take a deep breath and dive into the TikTok world! Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at Cashmere & Coconuts? Stay tuned, because we have a lot of fun stuff planned for you! Follow us on TikTok @cashmereandcoconuts

P.S. Save 10% in our shop this week with discount code: March10 (some exclusions apply) and save 20% on all our solid color Peruvian Highland wool!

Peace & Love to you all!

Cashmere & Coconuts

Welcome to Silly Goose Yarns! I’m so excited because we just launched this week! We are a small, woman-run business specializing in hand-dyed yarns. You can find a variety of bases on our site – mohair, fingering, DK, worsted and bulky – in our Spring Collection! We have Punchberry (pink with purple speckles) River Rocks (shades of grey and brown), Waves (mint to turquoise with specks of brown), Birthday Cake (pink, yellow, blue and purple) and Sunny Days (a saturated yellow tonal) as well as two mini skein sets in lights and brights. We also have an OOAK collection of limited items, with yarns in various shades and bases.

We also carry hand lotion from Savannah Bee Co.!

I’m the head dyer, owner, marketer, finance person, etc. When I’m not dyeing, I’m knitting, playing with my dog or drinking wine. I’m also an obsessive comma and exclamation point user! Looking forward to seeing you in the shop!

I don’t know about everyone else, but as soon as March hits I am ALL about color in my life. I’m tired of winter drab grays and browns, it’s time for a color explosion!

Introducing our new Summer Lovin’ Collection! A trio of color that promises to chase away all your winter blues!

The Summer Lovin’ collection can be purchased as a set or individually and is available across multiple bases.

If you love color, but are looking for something a little more subtle, we have ten new color ways that were released in our shop this week, across multiple bases — rest assured there is something for everyone!

We still have a few openings left for our Summer Knitting Box, which is inspired by geodes and gemstones, and is definitely a box you won’t want to miss! Modeled on our Christmas advent box, our Summer Knitting Kit comes with 24 mini skeins in either our Basic Sock or MCN Sock bases, as well as a coordinating full size 100g skein, and several small goodies! We’ve put a LOT of effort into these boxes and I can promise you, you won’t want to miss them! When they’re gone, they’re gone, so grab them while you can!

Lastly, we currently have a sale across much of our shop, which runs from 3/1 to 3/31 — save 10% off! Woohoo!!

I was born before the “Nintendo generation” officially began. I had a Colecovision and could contentedly play Pitfall on the Atari for hours if left to my own devices. Translation: I’ve been a gamer for most of my life. In my 20s I fell in love with anime and yarn (at very different times), and in my 30s, I became a board game enthusiast. Now in my 40s, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a dyer and merge my passions by drawing inspiration for colorways from the games and anime that I enjoy. Consider this the cliffs notes version of how Crafter Gamer Geek came into being.

At the time I am writing this, in the Crafter Gamer Geek shop, you’ll find variety of offerings. There are nine colorways across a mix of weights and wool types. You’ll find fingering-, DK- and Aran-weight yarns that are made from Merino, BFL, Polwarth and Highland wools. There are three more colorways that I designed specifically for my sock sets. These sets would also make amazing hats or shawls! For my fellow spinners, there are three colorways currently available on a Merino/nylon roving.

I have no delusions that I will turn crafters into gamers or turn gamers into crafters. I’d be pleased if I helped start a conversation, or simply piqued someone’s curiosity. I hope this journey allows me to meet others like me who have affinity for both yarn and fiber as well as gaming and/or anime. I hope that my creations resonate with all kinds of fiber enthusiasts, whether they share my other interests or not.

My name is David, the owner & dyer behind Crafter Gamer Geek. I hope you take the time to check out my shop and find me on Instagram (@craftergamergeek) to follow along on my adventure to see what I come up with next!
