Nappe Shawl kits

We’ve teamed up with the lovely Justyna of Letesknits to create an easy and effective shawl. It was in the heart of winter when Justyna chose the warm and earthy combination of shades that became Nappe Shawl, and now the pattern is available on Ravelry and we’ve prepared some vibrant kits with different color options.

We’re knitting ours as fast as we can, because it’s just that perfect dimension to wrap in even in springtime.

*** Please note that kits are sold on our website as a PREORDER that will close on the 12th of April — Kits will be shipped out by the first week of May.***
***Pattern is not included in the yarn kit but can be purchased separately on Ravelry.***

25% cashmere
25% alpaca
50% abruzzese wool

All our yarns are non-Superwash, nylon free, they’re made of local fibres processed and blended for us in Italy, and hand dyed in small batches.

For Yarn is the Magnet, and My Needles are Steel

Yarn has a wonderfully magnetic pull on us fiberistas, and we wouldn’t have it ANY. OTHER. WAY. Until now, all of my stitch markers have been made of colored copper wire, and the thing about copper wire, is that it’s not ferrous — that is, magnetic. But sometimes, you really just want a set of stitch markers that you can casually toss onto a magnet as you’re removing them from a project, or you want a stitch marker that sticks to a magnet when trying to pick them up out of shag carpet (y’all have shag carpet, right??), or you may just want to keep a tin of stitch markers on your fridge. You never know.

These sets of 30 stitch markers are made from iron rings that have been powder coated in an array of colors. The powder coating keeps the metal from rusting, and let’s face it, make the markers look like a basket fulla Peeps. Each ring has a seed bead of Deep Deep Purpley Black glued securely over the join of the rings to keep them snag free on your favorite yarn. Each set comes in its own tin, which not only has a magnet on the inside, but also has a magnet on the outside, so you can attach your tin to all of your kitchen appliances or even the hood or your car, should you feel so… inspired to do so.

The MEDIUM size fits needles up to size US10 / 6mm.
The LITTLE size fits needles up to size US6 / 4mm.

April, Advents and The Pink Moon

Hello!
I hope you are all well and getting vaccinated soon (or already have done so!). I went this week for my first and almost can’t believe the prospect of going back to some kind of normalcy soon — hurray! It truly feels like a spring rebirth. I have a lot of new things to share, so read on, my friends…

First of all, the 2021 Advent calendar preorders opened up last week and they are selling like hot (pan)cakes ????! So hop on over and reserve yours today! And for a limited time, U.S. shipping is free! Each day of December through Christmas, you will get to open a surprise mini skein of yarn. There will be 25 minis in total, along with some other fun holiday or fiber-related goodies added in here and there! This year, again, when you order early, you have your choice of five base yarns and we also have some fun optional add-ons: a special handmade project bag as well as a coordinating full-size skein in your chosen yarn base. You also have the option for a brand new Pancake and Lulu pin, designed especially for the calendar. This year, I created a mood board as a hint!

The 2021 Full Moon Surprise special yarn series continues! And this month the moon is PINK! Preorders for the April Pink Moon skein are now open and will close on Monday, April 11th at Midnight EDT. The skeins will be dyed and shipped out to be received* by the month’s full moon – for the Pink Moon, it is April 26th. This month I have also created a special stitch marker/progress keeper set to match! I found pink moon beads and couldn’t resist. With a season of change (three cheers for Spring!) upon us, the Bad Lux Designs lineup has sprouted a new base!

This super-soft, squishy 2ply bulky-weight base is perfect for quick knit and fast crochet projects. The new base is made up of 100% fine Superwash wool sourced from Peru. Bad Lux Designs colors strike with intensity on this bulky beauty. The scrumptious feeling of the fine Merino wool is a dream to work with. Slowly but surely, each standard Bad Lux Designs color is getting added to the shop and will be restocked regularly. An Epic Project Created from the Simplest of Building Blocks!

Even better… there's no sewing up at all!

The Striad Wrap was was conceived one cosy day as I sat in my knitting chair drinking a steaming cup of tea and gazing absentmindedly at a new lampshade that cleverly incorporated strips of joined-up triangles to form a globe shape. As my eyes followed the curve of those triangles, I found myself itching to pick up my needles and use the architecture of knitting to mimic their shapes. And so the Striad Wrap was born, an intriguing series of short row triangles, knit individually in strips and joined together without any seaming up, that combine to beautifully show off the amazing colours of hand-dyed yarn.

Sustainable, Durable, Fashionable: Vegetable Ivory Buttons

Buttons add functionality and style to every garment. Our vegetable ivory buttons do that while serving as a sustainable alternative to plastic buttons.

Each button is carved from tagua, a nut known for its resemblance to ivory both in look and feel. The nuts are produced by a type of palm tree native to rainforests in Central and South America and have long been used as an animal friendly substitute for ivory.

We offer two types of vegetable ivory buttons: Solid white and spotted. (The spotting is due to natural color variations found in the raw tagua material.) But if you fancy a different color, vegetable ivory is still a great choice. The tagua nut material is full of microscopic pores and will easily soak up dye.

Our buttons come in a pack of four and vary slightly in shape and size. In general, each one is about the size of a quarter.

Vegetable ivory’s good looks and durability made it a popular button material before plastics. Today, these buttons serve as a unique, environmentally friendly, and eye-catching choice!

Our buttons are made in a tagua workshop in Ecuador that primarily employs young women, allowing them to earn money while staying in school or supporting their families.
