Hi! I’m new to Indie Untangled and wanted to take this first post as an opportunity to introduce myself and my sweet little Etsy shop. My name is Christy Landry and I’m the founder, head dyer, packer, shipper and overall general flunky at Les Belles Lainages. Phonetically that’s pronounced: lay bell leh-nahj and the French to English translation means “the beautiful woolens”. I dye ethically produced, mostly all natural fibers in varying weights and blends. I gravitate towards bright, bold, fun speckles and variegated color ways as those make me the most happy but occasionally you’ll find comforting earthy tones as well. I’m not opposed to any color and take custom requests if you’re looking for something specific that you just can’t find anywhere else. I’m so enjoying working in this fiber field as many of my customers are quickly becoming cherished friends, so if you feel like chatting, reach out… I’m here for ya!
I have so much in mind for the coming year. I’ve just closed out my first ever advent calendar and it’s been a blast putting it together with all the new color ways and extra goodies that it’s motivated me to start thinking about doing a yarn club. I’m still working through the details (I’m open to any and all suggestions) but hope to start offering options by mid December.
I’ve also just done a quick update with several fun sock kits if anyone is looking for gift suggestions for fiber friends.

The Winter’s Moon Shawl is one of my favorite shawl designs and it’s the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe. This triangle shaped shawl is worked asymmetrically from the top left corner to the right edge. And can be customized to any length. The original sample used Sport and Lace held together but this time I have created some kits made with just my Delight DK base in four beautiful colors.
I have a small number of kits available at this time and I am working on adding some more in other colors. If you are looking for a specific color to make this wonderful shawl and not seeing it, please do not hesitate to contact me and I am more than happy to dye a custom order for you.
This week my webshop update will feature some exceptionally lovely bundles perfect for knitting up the Floozy cardigan and the Floozy Too pullover by Truly Myrtle. The pattern features a colorwork yoke that is worked with slipped stitches and only two colors at one time. The effect is so beautiful and the method is so simple. You’ll want more than one! Bundles are available on three bases for pre-order and you’ll be able to choose between my luxurious Silky Cashmere and my Happy Fingering bases. The shop is also filled to the brim with Delighful DK, Simple Worsted, and a great variety of fingering weight yarns. Yesterday saw the release of our exciting new yarn Brimham High Twist, which is the same blend of Superwash extrafine Merino with nylon (85%/15%) as you will find in our Brimham 4ply but with… a TWIST!! ???? This version has two strands twisted tightly together give it a different texture, and make it a good solid yarn with plenty of structure. It’s smooth and soft enough for next to skin wear as well. Worked at a looser gauge it has enough drape for lace, and it has very crisp stitch definition for cables and lace. Being more tightly spun the yardage of this yarn comes in lower than its 4ply sister but with 360m/392yds per 100g this is still plenty for a shawl.
This new yarn is available on the website now in a selection of variegated and semi-solid colourways including some limited edition seasonal specials with another update coming soon.
Speaking of seasonal colourways, we have added a new section to the website especially for these limited editions. You can find it on the home page with a number of Halloween, Autumn and Bonfire night inspired colourways on a range of bases including Pendle Chunky and Nateby 4ply mini skeins. In amongst the seasonal colourways we have also been restocking several of our yarn bases including Hayton DK (Merino Cashmere and Nylon) plus two of our most popular yarns Titus 4ply and Hayton 4ply, Brimham 4ply mini skeins alongside the Pendle Chunky and Nateby 4ply mini skeins previously mentioned. The Suavest Sheep have had so much fun on your projects that they’ve recruited other fluffy friends to join the flock. Nobunny likes cast on tails getting tangled or accidentally knit with. Bunny Hugs to the rescue!
Each set arrives in its own crystal burrow for easy transport. Help them hop onto your projects by holding your yarn end to their heart, wrapping the yarn around, and pressing it into the slot behind their perky ears.
Hugs don’t work as well from a distance, and it’s the same case here. The closer your Bunny to your project, the better the hug!
As is the case with the Suavest Sheep, each batch of Bunny Hugs is 3-D printed in my home studio with PLA-a non-toxic material made from plant-based, renewable resources.
For their grand debut, these helping hares are happy to appear in two colorways of fluff. Will your Bunny Hugs be snow-white or speckled gray?
These animal shaped end minders are a type of notion I invented to solve the problem of cast on tails. My knit group introduced me to the bread tag trick, but those often got tangled in my working yarn and, let’s face it, they aren’t that pretty to look at.Then inspiration struck, I could make something that both looks and functions better. Thus began the process of designing and testing many version of sheep to create the best version. While the sheep were the first version to be released it was always my intent to gradually create more animal shapes to add to the menagerie.
