When I moved back to New York, a goal of mine was to find or create a base that is locally sourced and milled. This past spring I was presented with the opportunity to do just that, and thus Sojourner Sock was born. I worked with Battenkill Fibers to come up with this beautiful non-Superwash base. It is a 3-ply yarn that is made from 60% U.S.-sourced Merino wool 30% locally-sourced Romney, and 10% nylon.
Sojourner Sock will be listed in the shop Friday, 8/30 at 6 p.m. EST.

I’ve been busy harvesting dye plants the last few weeks, enjoying these beautiful late days of summer… marigolds, goldenrod, lichens, tansy, and a couple of varieties of berries are now drying in preparation for use over the coming winter months. As I clean out last year’s leftover bits and pieces from my dye cabinet making room for this year’s harvest, I realize that I need to do the same with some of my yarn. I am planning new colourways and will be introducing a new yarn base (or two) later this fall… so I need to make some room on my shelves!

Hello and Happy End of Summer! I took a long vacay this summer up to my lake cabin in the beautiful Adirondacks – it was so peaceful. And it was a big adjustment back to dyeing and business. But I am super excited to be back — it was such a long break that I actually missed my business — but that is because I love what I do!
I did do some work while on vacation — I created a whole new website for Pancake and Lulu! I learned a ton and am so excited to introduce the new site this week. I know it is not perfect but it is live (I just had to go for it, despite my tendency toward striving for perfection — I’m a Virgo ????). During the summer, I had ample time to knit. My three big projects while on vacation were Drea Renee Knits’ Comfort Fade Cardi (just finished it but no FO pictures yet), Boyland Knitwork’s Sipila and Moon Sisters Shawl — both still in progress. Hopefully they will be done by Rhinebeck! I have a kit for the Moon Sisters Shawl available in my shop, available in both the original shades and my wild violet/lime version.
That’s about it for now. I’m super excited to be a vendor at The Indie Untangled Trunk Show this October and I am busily prepping for that — more on that next time.

Autumn is right around the corner and we’re seeing so many beautiful designs emerging just in time to craft that special Rhinebeck project. Lots of new things are happening here to keep up!
First, have you seen the brand new design by the very talented Tyne Swedish?! The Trelawney Shawl is a gorgeous large triangular knit, striped shawl using just two skeins of sock yarn, and we just happen to have kits ready to ship! Just in time, too, because she is hosting the #TrelawneyShawlKAL which runs from August 30th through September 30th.

We’ve also added two new colorways to the shop this week. High Tide is a lovely variegated blue and sandy brown inspired my the moon’s influence over the seas. I just love the relationship between the two and was eager to capture that in a colorway.
OOAK Leaf Pile is a tonal brown speckled with golds, yellows, oranges, and warm browns, just like jumping into a giant pile of leaves.
Finally, we’ve decided to add one more day to the Spooky Holiday “Advent” Calendar pre-orders at the request of some. There are still a few spots left, so if you had your eye on this kit, there is still time to grab it. These Spooky Holiday Calendars are inspired by all that is creepy and unsettling during the holiday season. There will be some very unique colorways coming!
