Our new spring colorways have been making their appearances in the shop over the last few weeks, since we got back from DFW Fiber Fest. I’m not sure what came over me this year, but we’ve got a bushel full of new colorways for spring, and I had a ball playing in the dye pots and coming up with them! Tonals, speckles, variegated… we’ve got them all.
We just added another batch to the shop yesterday that included Fresco, Spruce and Ink. Hop on over and have a look around!
The May Lucky Pot Shop Update is live! Lucky Pots are one-of-a-kind, never to be reproduced colors. Me getting spontaneous with the dyepots; nothing is written down and when they’re gone, they’re gone! I’ve dyed a bunch of springtime colorways, and another bunch of autumn-y/earthy shades. Each batch works well as a grouping for multicolor and fade projects!
This is an update of Lucky Pots dyed on Aurora, my single-ply fingering-weight Superwash Merino base. It’s a super yarn, and has quickly become a favorite for many. 400 yards per 3.5 ounce/100g skein, it’s a dream to knit and creates a really wonderful, soft fabric.
It’s a great yarn for shawls and scarves, hats and other accessories and sweaters. Check out the Ravelry projects for Aurora to see what others have knit with this lovely yarn. Patterns that would work well in Aurora include Tegna, Marettimo, So Faded, Yoga Shawl, Spector, Stormy Sky Shawl, Wildheart, Breathing Space, Lilli Pilli and Plein Soleil, but there are SO many more!

If you see something you like, I’d recommend ordering quickly to get the best selection, and to ensure there is enough of the color you want. All yarns are ready to ship!
Nantahala is a Cherokee word meaning “land of the noon day sun.” Inspired by a summer day in the beautiful hardwood forests of the east coast areas of North America, this top-down, crescent-shaped shawl has a pleasing mix of simple lace and squishy garter stitch sections and ends with a delicate picot bind-off.

Hello from Pancake and Lulu Yarn, aka PLY! This month, I am so inspired by the color combinations my lovely customers have been ordering lately.
I’ve had a run on purples and pale pastels like the ones pictured here (Violet Icing, Limelight, Lobster Bisque). It makes me want to drop all my WIPs and cast on a new project! Sometimes it is hard to part with a package I am sending off. It seems ridiculous since so many of my yarns are repeatable, but the truth is, I get distracted by the next color combo or project and never use the inspiring combo I coveted. I recently created the multicolor speckle shown here, called Nubula, to knit up Stephen West’s Speckle and Pop Shawl. And I did stash one away for myself! More are in the shop.
I’m working away on the Roselle Tee KAL by Patty Lyons and I’m learning so much. I dyed two new bases and am holding them together for this project. The pink in the photo is a Merino cotton and the peach is a luxurious lace-weight sparkle alpaca silk Cashmere. I am loving these new bases and soon will offer them in a limited supply in my shop, so keep a lookout on my Instagram.
There are some new Lulu Batts in my shop — these batts are so much fun for spinning or felting. Each are made up of lots of different fibers with some sparkle stellina mixed in — super crazy and super gorgeous. Oh, and this weekend, I’m off to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival where my daughter and I are taking a Indigo Shibori Dye class together, so that will be so much fun. Maybe I will see you there!

I’m excited to be participating in the Moms and Makers Event hosted by Knitty City on Saturday May 12th in NYC. There will be several other indie dyers plus makers of other crafts. Proceeds from the raffle and a silent auction will benefit Moms Demand Action Against Gun Violence.
After a trunk show last weekend, I am working on making room for new bases and colors, but I need to clear a few things out first. Lots of sock yarn and colors I am retiring have been added to the clearance section of my shop, and I have restocked everything else in the normal yarn section. Lots of wonderful variegated colored for everyone, so get it before it’s gone!
Sock yarn on clearance is 25% nylon/75% Superwash merino 2ply. It is a nice base, but I am switching (back) to my 4ply base. The other colors I am retiring are the red — “Early Snow Flowers” — and the green/brown — “Green Rain Tears.”
This week’s update is all about melty, soft luxury. From ethereal Magic Mohair to creamy Silky Cashmere; you won’t be able to resist treating yourself.
I’ve seen so many lovely mohair projects lately that my queue just keeps getting longer and longer. From floaty, light-as-air shawls to kitten-soft sweaters and hats, there is an endless array of choice. I’ve had fun dyeing loads of new colors to coordinate with my other bases. If you’re having trouble deciding let me know! I love to help with ordering.
