BabyCocktails Cable Workshop with Thea Colman
From Thea Colman: “I find cables are one of the hardest working tools in my knitting repertoire. But what about making them work a little harder?”
A cable can do so much more, with just a few tweaks. Together with Thea you will practice new ways to make your cables do what you want, exploring different methods to alter the look or shape of a cable, to play with texture in and around them, and to add a few bells and whistles. To use your new cables, you will also cover what they can do for the greater fabric of your knits. The techniques learned in this class will open up a whole new world of possibilities – it may be difficult to knit a simple cable as written once you know all the ways in which you can bend it to your will…

Conquer Your Color Block: Workshop with Kirsten Kapur
Kirsten Kapur loves to design with color and her multi-colored wraps are some of her favorite ways to experiment. Join Kirsten and learn how to select colors, tips and tricks for testing them out, and experiment with how color placement can completely change the look of a project.
6:30-8:30 p.m.
Cocktails anyone? Start your Saturday night off with Thea Colman and Kirsten Kapur. Join us for a combined trunk show and cocktail party with light appetizers. We’ll be featuring a special summer drink that Thea and Kirsten are putting their heads together to dream up, plus lots of yarns, beautiful samples of both old and new designs from these two amazing ladies. Thea and Kirsten will each bring a trunk show with samples of some of their designs, and will happily give suggestions for which mYak yarns to use for their specific patterns. We hope you can join us for a bit of knitting and conversation in our bright, beautiful space — weather permitting, it could be a lovely couple hours on the patio!

10 a.m.-1 p.m. Baby Cocktail Design Workshop
Ever wanted to try your own hand at design? In this workshop, Thea Colman takes you through the process from yarn to paper, and work with you as you create your own cowl pattern. Working together, you will combine yarn from your stash with your imagination and Thea will walk you through the steps from skein to design, covering fiber thoughts, how to narrow down your ideas, how to evaluate different stitch patterns, all the variables to consider about when adding motifs onto your fabric, and the mechanics of how to translate your ideas to a wearable accessory.
