This week’s update is all about melty, soft luxury. From ethereal Magic Mohair to creamy Silky Cashmere; you won’t be able to resist treating yourself.

I’ve seen so many lovely mohair projects lately that my queue just keeps getting longer and longer. From floaty, light-as-air shawls to kitten-soft sweaters and hats, there is an endless array of choice. I’ve had fun dyeing loads of new colors to coordinate with my other bases. If you’re having trouble deciding let me know! I love to help with ordering.

Happy making, friends!

I’m excited to release Round the Mountain, available on Ravelry! It is sure to keep your interest with a combination of fun stitch patterns, color changes and shapes. Featuring Lux Adorna Knits cashmere, you will want to wear it ALL THE TIME!

Now thru Mother’s Day, May 12, enter coupon code MOTHERSDAY at checkout on Ravelry and get 25% off any other Aspen Knits pattern.

It’s been a busy spring at Dragonfly Fibers! A few weeks back, we introduced a lustrous new laceweight – a stunning mohair-silk blend we call Faerie. There are so many patterns that feature a yarn like this, but we especially love Elton by Joji Locatelli and Birds of a Feather by Andrea Mowry. Here it is shown in Peach Melba.

We’re so excited for LYS Day on April 27th! Casapinka is once again creating a special design that will be free with yarn purchase! It’s a pullover shawl called Magical Thinking, and we are offering five options in our squishy Dragon Sock. You can find pictures of all of the kits and a list of participating shops here.

Be sure to get out and support your favorite LYS (or two or three!) on Saturday!

One short week later, Maryland Sheep & Wool will be taking over the fairgrounds in West Friendship, Maryland! As always, we’ll be in the Lower Outside Corral with loads of yarn, fiber and kits. We’ll also have our show exclusive colorway, Carroll Creek Park. Quantities are limited, so be sure to come early for the best selection!

Happy spring knitting and crochet from all of us at Dragonfly Fibers!

After months of development, testing and trying to keep these cuties under wraps, it’s finally time for the big reveal:

Meet the Suavest Sheep!

These happy little notions will tidy your cast-on end, hold yarn joined in the middle of your project, act as a handy color swatch to carry with you, or make for an adorable display of your favorite yarns.

These cuties are 3D printed in my home using polylactic acid, which is made from plant-based renewable resources.

What do you think? Will you be adding a few to your flock?

These sheep will be making their event debut in my booth at Maryland Sheep and Wool! Find Crafty Flutterby Creations in barn 3. Hope to see you there!

Branches In Bloom is a sweet, top-down pullover with a graceful, branch + blossom cable motif at the hem. The modified raglan sleeves are designed to stay put on your shoulders, while increases below the elbow give a slightly blouse-y effect without being over-the-top. The sweater is worked inside-out so that you barely have to purl at all! And all the hard work of charting the delightful cable pattern upside-down and inside-out is all done for you, so you can just follow the directions with ease (Not into charts? No worries — the cable motif is also written out line by line for you).

The pattern is on sale at a discount through Saturday, April 27th, so check out the pattern page for details.

The sample is worked holding a strand of mohair-silk lace weight with a strand of single-ply fingering yarn for a drapey fabric that’s out-of-this-world soft. Alternatively, you can work the sweater in a DK or worsted weight yarn to the same gauge.

Sweater Sisters’ newest team member, Dana Gervais, has released her fabulous new knee high pattern, Mojo. This knee high sock features 16 Bimini sparkle minis and I am offering the kit in two color sets. Here’s the best part: the kits are ON SALE for one week only!

These socks are as much fun to knit as they are to wear. Whether you choose the classic blue and gold color set or the feminine pink and purple color set, you will love knitting up this wonderful pattern. All Sweater Sisters team members have their patterns tech edited and test knitted for your knitting pleasure.

The first color set is shown on the sample and starts from the toe with NYC, a rich, glazed blue, and continues up to the knee with Channel Islands, Tulum, Chicago, Sanibel Island, Rockaway Beach, Montmartre and Naples.

The second color set starts at the toe with Chacchoben, a bright cherry red, and continues to the knee with Shoujiji Sakura glazed, Shoujiji Sakura marbled, Pink Sands Beach, Chicago, Sanibel Island, Pfeiffer Beach and Provence.

Sale ends Friday, May 3rd.

WayfaringYarns Bimini mini is a beautiful sock yarn. Lurex added to the super soft Merino gives this bouncy yarn a brilliant sparkle. Bimini minis are 75% extra fine Superwash Merino/20% nylon/5% Lurex, 20 grams, 83 yds/80m.

WayfaringYarns is Sweater Sisters’ in-house hand-dyed yarn line. All my bases are ethically sourced from suppliers with the highest standards in regards to animal husbandry and the environment. No animals are injured to provide our fiber. I only source yarn made with shorn fiber and fiber that has shed naturally from the animal.

As always, I offer free shipping in the U.S. and flat rate shipping to Canada. Expect shipment within two weeks of your order.

Sometimes you just need a quick, simple, satisfying knit. The Odyssey shawl by Joji is just that, and I couldn’t help but cast one on this week. SilkyYak is the height of luxury and has amazing sheen and drape due to the silk and yak fibers, with enough Merino to hold its shape. If you needed a good excuse to cast one on, all DK in my shop is 20% off through April 30 using code “DkSale”
Happy Knitting!

The second installment is “National Wine Day!” and will contain:

One skein of fingering weight yarn on a sparkle base (SPARKLES!!!)
A pattern
Two other carefully chosen items, one of which is locally sourced

In other Despondent Dyes news, Vintage Vixen is officially here! This is our brand new non-Superwash sportweight yarn. It comes in a gorgeous palette of 15 colors and is perfect for everything from cables to colorwork. The semisolid colors might be different from our bright speckled sock yarns, but you’ll find the same hilarious names with a fun, 1950s housewife twist. To say we are crazy about this yarn would be putting it mildly.
