Introducing our Malian-inspired new yarn series: These yarns feature color changes as well as partial striping.

This series was inspired by the Malian Bogolan (“mud cloth”) textile dying technique that uses fermented mud from the Niger River. To simulate the look of the Malian textiles, our yarns feature light-colored stripes that add structure and emphasis to the color changes occurring in the background. Pick a color, grab your needles and let the magic unfold.

When Deb Gerhard of Spruce Lane Designs first released her Once Again sweater, the yoke was designed using a shaded gradient set in red. The original yoke design was shown in Drizzly Day (MC) and the Unchained Melody Jujubee DK Gradient Set. Due to popular request, Deb updated the pattern to also include separate (non-monochromatic) colors for the yoke. This yoke is shown in Drizzly Day (MC) and the Racing Silks Mixed Marianated Gradient Set.

There is also a bonus pattern included — Sheldon’s Once Again sweater — because booth mascots need a matching sweater too.

All options for the Once Again sweater plus Sheldon will be with me at the Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival March 15-17 at the Double Tree Hotel in Pittsburgh. I’ll be in the Oakmont Room, booths 68-69.

Winter is here!

We have waited for years for this, and have dreaded it at the same time. Why must great things come to an end? To celebrate the last season of Game of Thrones, and commemorate the stunning series finale, we have put together a two-part kit.

The first installment will be a skein of Game of Thrones-inspired yarn and a marvelous dumpling bag using licensed GoT fabric. The second installment will be a second gorgeous GoT-inspired skein of yarn, as well as stitch markers with images of key characters.

Order your limited-edition kits before they sell out!

First ship date is April 1.
Second ship date is May 1.

Introducing 11 new colourways inspired by one of my favorite childhood books, The Color Kittens by Maragret Wise Brown. There are three bright solids: Buckets of Red, Buckets of Blue and Buckets of Yellow, a colourway for each of the lovable kittens, Brush and Hush, plus six gorgeous complementary colour mixes that can be mixed and matched in a variety of combinations: Green as Glass, Purple as Shadows, Pink as Pigs, Brown as and Old Goat, Golden Pears and Orange as the Setting Sun.

Full and mini skeins are availble on Coufunga Sock with full skeins available on Patsy DK and assorted other bases.

Happy March, everyone!

We are so excited to introduce a brand new base to the Lambstrings Yarn family! Ewetopia Bulky will be added to the shop on Saturday, March 2nd at 10 a.m. EST! There will be 50 skeins available and ready to ship on 13 of your favorite colors (and one of mine) as well as a new colorway, “Party Monster.”

Ewetopia Bulky is a super soft 3ply Superwash Merino wool with 106 yards (97 meters), perfect for hats, mitts, and chunky cowls. And did I mention that it will work up super speedy? Yup, if you’re looking for a fast project yarn, this is it!

Welcome to Pancake and Lulu Yarn, aka PLY!

This month is all about Rainbows and Green!

Speaking of rainbows, I have a huge selection of 80+ colors and my minis are now available in five base styles: Euro Fingering, Sparkle Fingering, Merino Nylon, Single Fingering and, the newest addition, a DK-weight Merino Nylon. (All colors are also available in full-size skeins too.)

Don’t forget to wear green this month! My favorite green has recently been VERDIGRIS. The base shown here is PLY Merino Nylon DK, available in mini or full-size skeins.

CAPPUCCINO is always in style. This gorgeous shade has been one of our best sellers recently and here’s why: it’s a yummy neutral that goes with everything. Shown here on my Merino Nylon Fingering and my Kid Mohair Silk Lace. Or choose one of my other 20 bases. I love this color — there is something magical about this dye that sometimes creates bits of slightly darker reddish speckles naturally.

I finished my Pierre Shawl, by Westknits! I used PLY Sparkle DK in VERDIGRIS, SLATE, TWILIGHT and JET. It knit up super fast — gotta love those DK projects.

I have been having so much fun experimenting with new speckle formulas. This PINNNK speckle in PLY Bulky is one I am keeping for myself — I’m kinda obsessed with it!! But, I’m going to try to repeat it so check out my shop for NEW SPECKLES this month. I’m on a kick! They will be popping up on my instagram too.

And I just wanted to highlight the PLY Clubs: I have three different clubs currently: Yarn, Fiber and Mini. AND have just added an exciting new option for the PLY Yarn Club. You now have the option of receiving all your yarns with one base of your choice. For example, do you love single fingering yarn? Now you can receive only that base, if you choose. Of course, you can still choose the combo of bases. You can join my clubs anytime for three, six or 12 months.

Well, that about wraps up this post — it’s been a busy and awesome 2019 so far!

You would be forgiven for thinking that in the run up to Edinburgh Yarn Festival here in the UK we might be focusing solely on that, but here at ECY Shedquarters we had other ideas! So this week we have LOTS to share with you including the latest round of signups to our monthly yarn club, an exciting collaboration and our usual website update.

Most exciting for us is the next stage of our relationship with Jaya (aka Jayalakshmi – @jayalakshmimh on Instagram) in the form of a very special collaboration, the Four Seasons Collection subscription. Four Seasons is a collection of four shawls/wraps inspired by Jaya’s love for simple and meaningful poetry, by some of her favourite poets. Each poem and the associated design celebrate the season while also conveying a deeper meaning and philosophy of life.

For each design we will be preparing a parcel which will include; the pattern; the yarn required; a packet of tea; and other goodies. Payment is made for the whole collection up front and then subscribers can sit back and wait to receive their quarterly kits in time for the release of the pattern. To sign up head to our website at 7 p.m. UK time on Friday 1st March but please be aware that numbers are limited.

Also going live on the website on Friday at 7 p.m. UK time is the next round of signups for our monthly exclusive yarn subscription club, The Potting Shed. Sign up for three or six months to receive a monthly parcel containing a skein of 4ply/fingering yarn in an exclusive OOAK colourway, a soap/skincare product and a postcard showing the inspiration for the colourway. The Potting Shed has been running for six months now and we have been able to offer more slots so make sure to head to the website to check it out. Sign ups will stay open until 31st March or until all slots have been filled!

Last, but most certainly not least, is our next update which will be live on the website on Sunday 3rd March at 1 p.m. UK time and will be Oakworth 4ply which is our 100% Superwash NZ Polwarth wool yarn. Oakworth 4ply is a gorgeous, crisp, bouncy and smooth yarn, which has great stitch definition. It is perfect for socks, being hardwearing, but also perfect for shawls, hats, fingerless mitts, cardis, sweaters and more. We have a great selection to choose from in the update including some of our newer variegated/dappled colourways alongside the signature muted ECY palette of semisolids. After this our next update will be our Post-EYF stock update which will take place in early April.

Happy Shopping!

These dragonfly shawl pins add a pop of color and sparkle to your handcrafted accessories. They are a fabulous finishing touch for shawls, cowls, cardigans, scarves, hats, etc.

Each bead has a golden dragonfly that appears to float on a multi colored background that appears different colors from different angles. Which colorful dragonfly would accentuate your favorite shawl?
