Make a colorful start to the year with my new series of colorful shawl cuffs!

I knew that I had to put my own personal touch on this bold trend, but I wanted to do so in an environmentally friendly and stylishly functional way. Each piece is handcrafted with cork fabric and metal snaps. Cork is a renewable fair trade resource and a great vegan alternative to leather. The woven backing feels soft against the skin, even where the charms are hand-stitched onto each piece. One of my favorite benefits of working with this material is the brilliant array of colorways to choose from!

These Cuffs are available in both Classic and Charmed varieties. Each piece has a unique texture of natural cork bark serving as a reminder of the similarities and differences that we share. We’re all human, but each one of us has our own special abilities and path to walk.

Will our path join at Stitches West later this month? See these cuffs and many other handcrafted goodies in my booth February 20th-23rd.

Happy February everyone! I am here with news of our next hand-dyed yarn update, which will be going live on Saturday 8th February at 5pm UK time. The update will include Bowland DK, Pendle Aran and the final installment of the Four Seasons Collection, our collaboration with Jayalakshmi of Apoorva Designs. Snowy Evening is the winter design, which is to be released on Saturday and it uses four skeins of Pendle Aran in colourway Oak. The update will include printed copies of the pattern, a limited number of the winter subscription boxes and add-on kits which allow you to choose your own yarn to be made into a kit. As the collection is now complete we also have a pattern bundle so that you can purchase all four patterns together at a discounted price.

This Saturday February 8 at 10 a.m. EST I will be having a mini shop update which will include a variety of Outlander-inspired colors both new and revised. These colors will be available on several different fingering bases and few will even be on DK. Since many of the Outlander-inspired colors are limited edition I will only have a few in stock, so once they have sold that will be it. Additionally, I will also be restocking some of my regular colors as well as adding a few new sock sets and kits.

Last year’s REMIX subscription club brought us some amazing colorways, and 2020 has even more to offer! In each month’s club I take an existing colorway of Fully Spun Sock Fingering and give it a REMIX to make it like new! Each colorway is exclusive for the year, and each month’s shipment comes with a matching solid mini skein. We have a few spots open now. Don’t miss your chance to grab one!

February is the month that I really enjoy winter and the snow. I make the most of it by enjoying the outdoors a little by getting my cross country skiing on, and enjoying the indoors a lot by knitting by the fire with a cup of hot tea.

February is the best time of year to enjoy all the cozy luxury fibers like extra fine Merino, Cashmere and alpaca.

I have listed limited quantities of Wayfarer fingering (80% extra fine Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% nylon) and Snow City Yarns SOCK (60% extra fine Merino, 20% baby alpaca, 20% nylon) in the shop. Peruse through seventeen different colors of this gorgeous base to find the ones perfect for your future projects.

The second yarn going up in the shop this month will be nine colors of SOCK. We’re talking a fabulous blend of fine Merino Superwash and Peruvian baby alpaca here! My daughter, Megan, lives in Salt Lake City and she dyes these stunning skeins using (drum roll) Landscape Dyes, also available in 90 colors on the site.

WayfaringYarns and Snow City Yarns are Sweater Sisters’ in-house yarn lines, hand dyed by Selena in Alta, Wyoming, and daughter Megan in Salt Lake City, Utah.

A Heavenly Update is going to be our first Shop Update of 2020, and as the name says, it is dedicated to our luscious Cashmere yarn.

A Heavenly Blend is the heart of our yarn range, not only because it contains Giulia’s own homegrown cashmere fibre, but also because setting up her goat farm was the reason why we met a few years ago during a handspinning workshops, and that was the turning point to set up our small business in exclusive, traceable Italian yarn.

Shop update is set for SATURDAY February 1, at 6.00pm CEST

We put in the shop our full range of A Heavenly Blend hand-dyed palette, with two new colorways: ZAFFERANO — a deep dark caramel — and SCIROCCO — a cold slate blue. The undyed base is a light beige-grey that yields very peculiar shades once dyed. Each batch is fairly unique because we apply several layers of colors, to get the perfect deep hues of our range.

Icing on the cake, we dedicate this update to some new speckled and variegated variations overdyed on some of our shades:

The cold lilac base of VIOLETTE turned into LUNA, with sparkles of ochre and deep fuchsia.

The elegant peachy AMARETTI became TITANIA which is dotted of dark teal greens and burnt orange.

The watery ACQUAMARINA was enlightened with rusty yellows and vibrant pinks and purples, developing into CORALLI

A Heavenly Blend is made of:
50% Aquilana wool
25% Italian alpaca
25% Italian Cashmere
Fingering (UK 4-ply) weight with 50g – 225m
Gauge: 10cm in 24-26 sts and 3,5mm needles

This year I’m once again joining the efforts to raise money for this worthy cause, and my goal is to raise $500. That’s 125 skeins of Agate Beach! Will you help me?

On Saturday, February 1, the webshop will be stocked with Agate Beach, which is my all time most popular colorway to date. $4 from the purchase of each skein of Agate Beach on *any* yarn base will be donated to Down Syndrome International, and they will use the money to help families and individuals access education and resources to live their best lives.

Looking for a sweater quantity? Now is the time to order! Dyed to order listings as well as ready-to-ship options will be available Saturday, February 1 on my website.

Hello from Pancake and Lulu Yarn!

It has been a while since my last post. I hope you have all had a great start to 2020 and been well.

This Saturday, Feb. 1st, I will be doing a Trunk Show at Do Ewe Knit in Fanwood, N.J., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. I will have lots of my yarn, pins, and other goodies, so please stop by and say hello if you are in the area.

I’ve been dyeing up some new colorways for Valentine’s Day and they are now in my shop, so please have a look. “Love Letter” is a speckled pinks and fuchsia available on several bases. I’m using this colorway held with my “Bone” Suriously Suri Silk base for a Love Note Sweater by Tin Can Knits – and I can’t put it down — it is such a fun knit! Message me if you would like me to make you a kit in these colors.

I jumped on the Slub trend with a new base called Slubbin It. I recently fell in love with this base while working on my Starflake Shawl by Stephen West. It is a great way to add texture and worked really well in this pattern as one of my yarns.

Also, I started a Pancake and Lulu Video Podcast – check it out over on my Youtube channel. You can hear all about what has been happening with me. I just got back from an amazing time at Vogue Knitting Live NYC! I talk about the classes I took and my weekend – it was awesome! It is my first time doing anything like that (so it is a little wonky????) but it was fun and I plan to continue. So grab your fiber project and beverage of choice and please check it out!

xx Aimee
