We have made the difficult decision to cancel our attendance at the Carolina FiberFest in Raleigh, NC this weekend. With several active cases in town, which led to multiple school and university closures, we decided not to travel and thus hopefully help to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. This was a difficult economic decision for a small business and we are offering a 10% discount throughout the weekend to make up for lost sales. Use coupon code RALEIGH at checkout.

News of charity yarn coming this weekend

When we heard about Operation: Social Justice, we felt we had to get involved as it is a great opportunity to spread the love with acts of random kindness. Our chosen charity is Stonewall, an organisation in the UK supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Our next update will be going live at 12 noon UK time on Sunday 15th March and will include a special one-off colourway “Trans Rights are Human Rights” on our Brimham HT base. We will also have pastel rainbow mini skein sets on the same base. 20% of the purchase price of these two products will go to Stonewall. There are a limited number of skeins of the one-off colourway but if they sell out we will open preorders for more.

Over the past few weeks we have been very busy adding yarn to the website, restocking some of our popular bases. On Friday 13th March we will add a few colourways of Bowland 4ply, our 100% British Bluefaced Leicester yarn. Last week we had a small sock yarn update featuring Tempo 4ply and Brimham 4ply in a selection of browns and neutrals. Before that was a bumper Hayton 4ply update, adding a great selection of variegated colourways and semisolids on one of our most popular bases, a blend or Merino, Cashmere and nylon. Prior to that we had Oakworth DK, our New Zealand Polwarth yarn, in a great selection of colourways. This yarn is a real workhorse and is great in a wide variety of projects including the free Follifoot Legwarmers pattern, which is available both or our website and on Ravelry.

Looking forward to next Friday we are very excited to announce that we have an alpaca-based update with both Askham 4ply and Askham Aran getting a much needed restock. Both of these yarns are a blend of baby alpaca with silk, making them super soft with a lovely shine.

Misfit Yarns is a small batch indie dyer based in Chicago, IL. I was scheduled to vend at YarnCon (my first big event!), but due to COVID-19, it was canceled. It is important to keep our community safe, so I understand the decision by the organizers. You can also keep yourself safe by shopping at home and considering adding some Misfit Yarns into your stash! I ship worldwide and I love seeing what my customers knit and crochet with my yarns. Seven Sisters Arts was planning to attend VKL Seattle which was appropriately canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. To help with the loss of income and to make the event more accessible to all, regularly priced yarn will be 15% off with the code VKE from Friday noon EDT through Sunday at midnight. The Steampunk Hat will be released as well on Friday and 50% of all pattern sales for the weekend will be donated to H.O.M.E., an organization that assists homeless and low-income people with shelter and job skills. New Cross Body Bags

Our Cross Body bags just got an upgrade!
They now feature a fully detachable and adjustable cross body straps!

Some of the bags feature coated cotton. It is a special coated cotton, from Le Jacquard Français, an historical textile brand created in the Vosges (very near my home) in 1861.

Some of the bags feature soft cotton in dazzling colours and patterns.

All bags have:
– a generous pocket, three big and one for a pen or crochet hook

– drawstring cotton cord

– long crossbody strap or wrist strap (easily recognisable in the pictures)

– interiors lined with soft light weight cotton

– crossbody straps that are completely detachable and adjustable

– non-repeatable fabric patterns: once they are gone, they gone forever

– a super light weight, just over 120g for the biggest

– a lot of space, and they can carry several skeins of yarn

– super soft cotton

All bags are handmade by me in France, from the cutting, the washing, and the sewing, all to the last thread!

And if you are worried about me going to queue at the post to send your orders, rest assured: I self stamp all your orders in my atelier and I then slip them in the mailbox! It is sure, it is practical, and it will reach safely your home!

When we found out Vogue Knitting Live in Seattle was canceled, we did a lot of pouting. Yes, we agreed it was the right choice, but dang we had a lot of yarn! And were so looking forward to hanging out with fellow knitters and dyers. So we threw ourselves a pity party and then we got an email from Partners in Health, the charity we donated to last quarter:
“The current reported case fatality rate, whether 3.4 percent or not, cannot be used to predict how this virus will devastate many areas globally where there aren’t existing, functioning health systems that can respond to an aggressive infectious disease.”

So, we decided to put our extra inventory to good use and raise some money for one of our favorite charities.

We will be donating 15% of sales made March 13-15 to Partners in Health. That is $4 per skein of yarn!

We have so much new yarn! New colors of Vintage Vixen and Mohair Moxie, Atomic Love, Six Month Half Life, and You Say Tomato, I say Bloody Mary. There is also new Ultra Merino Fingering in Breakup Bangs and So Much Emotional Baggage They Made Me Check it At the Gate.

Kathy bought a knitting machine and programmed it to knit fair isle patterns of her very own design! And what could be better than project bags made out of this fabric? We only have a handful of these!
We also have some super fun screen-printed bags that have one of our favorite sayings on them: “Yarn and Tacos Never Stood Me Up!”

We have a new colorway dyed up on our Single Ply base, I am NOT Doing This Sober. We also have two extra special one-of-a-kind yarns! We’ll Always Have That Weekend in Bellevue is a super squishy silk and mohair blend, naturally dyed with avocado pits. Indoorsy is an alpaca wool blend that was spun just for us at Eweful Fiber Mill in Halsey. It is farm to fiber festival and so soft!

Here in Wyoming, March is the month where we’re dreaming of spring, but still waking up to snow on the ground. I’m proud to introduce my newest hand-dyed base, Au Naturale. This gorgeous yarn is untreated, extra fine Merino hand dyed using a special two-day dyeing process that results in super saturated color. Au Naturale is the perfect choice for garments, accessories and shawls, and is particularly suited for colorwork. The hand is so soft, the weight is so lofty; it’s an incredible yarn.

Come to the #DFWFiberFest and learn an exciting new way to put beads on your knitting — on your cast-on! Make this gorgeous waterfall beaded edge on a shawlette. Once you know how to use this technique, you will want to use it on everything from scarves to shrugs! Jean Elizabeth will be there to guide you through this process step by step all the while telling you about knitting with beads and the many ways you can use beads in your knitting. You will complete part of the shawl and walk away with the skills to finish it and make many more.

You will bring your own yarn, wound in a ball ready to knit. Yarn (tencel hand-dyed by Teresa Ruch) can be purchased from Bead Biz, but you will need to make arrangements to have the yarn wound prior to class. A kit including beads (color choices available), pattern and tool will be supplied by the instructor.
