Introducing “Patience & Fortitude” – our latest yarn and fiber colorway, specially designed for the Vogue Knitting Live event in the heart of New York City. This exclusive colorway pays homage to the majestic marble lions that have proudly stood guard at the New York Public Library since 1911.????????????

Drawing inspiration from the grandeur of the New York Public Library’s architecture and the timeless allure of vintage literature, “Patience & Fortitude” weaves the sandy hues of the library’s iconic sandstone architecture with the rich, deep reds and greens of antique leather-bound books. ????✨

Our commitment goes beyond aesthetics, as we pledge 5% of all proceeds from this colorway to support the New York Public Library, to support the preservation of knowledge and the joy of reading for generations to come.

Debuting at the Vogue Knitting Live event, it will be showcased on our beautiful Mythic base and as a Sock Set, ideal for crafting wearable art steeped in New York’s storied culture.

For those who can’t join us in person, “Patience & Fortitude” will be available for purchase online until March 1st on all yarn bases and spinning fibers.

If you are attending Vogue Knitting Live NYC later this month, please say hello! We’re in Booth 210 – 212

I confess that maybe I can be somewhat particular. There’s a peace that comes with order and organization, and having everything tucked away into its perfect little nook.

Occasionally, the organization bug will hit me extra hard and I’ll wake up with a sudden burst of inspiration. Before I know it, I’m going room by room, moving furniture, emptying cupboards, digging in closets and maybe finding my long-lost favorite book or that spare remote from… several televisions ago.

While I’m swept up in the flurry of organizing I look at everything differently.

Do I love this?
Do I need this?
Do I have to have this?

And most importantly…
How can I organize this? ????

If this sounds at all familiar, then I’d love to introduce you to one of the newest little Pretties to join our shop.

Our Tin Organizers are absolutely perfect for keeping all of your bits and bobs in their own little space.

If you’re the type of person who hates to have your food touch, or if you just want to find your notions without dumping everything on the table and rummaging through them, then you’ll absolutely adore this little helper.

You’ll get:
– One set of dividers
– Choose either Large or Small

Each set comes with two interlocking pieces that allow you to divide your tin into four compartments.

With the new year comes a new artist to feature and this year I am featuring Georgia O’Keeffe. Each month, subscribers will get special packages with yarn and goodies inspired by her art. But maybe subscriptions aren’t your thing. You’re in luck! I am continuing to offer preorders of skeins only each month for those who just want to pop in and grab one once in a while.

Orders will consist of the featured colorway in the base of your choice and a fact card about the artwork. This month, I am featuring one of her earliest watercolors – Special No. 32. This painting and yarn features muted teals, greens, oranges and golds.

Orders cut off on January 20th, allowing time for me to dye yarn and get it shipped out between the 28th and the 2nd.

(And if subscriptions ARE your thing, you have until the 20th to sign up and get packages starting for January. See my website for details).

Who hasn’t heard of Nomadic Knits? We are proud to have been a featured dyer in a couple of their amazing regional magazines featuring independent designers and dyers from across the U.S. These beautiful publications feature sweeping landscapes, stories, designers, dyers, and patterns. Nomadic Knits also hosts some of the most fun Knit-a-Longs, including the Twelve Days of Knitmas! On the heels of Knitmas, is The Lonely Hearts Club! This super fun KAL started four years ago and each year has been better and better. This year, Olive & Two Ewe is thrilled to be the featured dyer. You can learn more about the knit-a-long and see the beautiful kits we’ve prepared here.

We also welcome to the shop this week a couple of unusual characters — yarns we don’t often carry, but they are wonderful, nonetheless!

First, we introduce Rand, our little-known, single-ply, rustic alpaca super bulky base. Rand is spun by the wives and mothers of shepherds in the Andean mountains of Peru. Purchasing this yarn, sustains the economic health of their small circle of family and friends. We love that it will felt, making it interesting for craft projects of all sorts. It’s available in a beautiful array of colors.

Another unusual character is our Doyle DK base. Doyle’s 100% Pima Cotton makes it perfect for cool summer sweaters and easy-to-care-for home goods. We love it for dishcloths, so check out designs by Carolyn Edgar on Ravelry for three that are free.

Tolkien DK is another cottony base with 50% Superwash Merino and 50% cotton. Tolkien DK is another great option for summer sweaters and home goods. It’s larger gauge knits up quick and has excellent stitch definition.

As beautiful as it is unusual is Plato, our 4-ply DK base made of 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon. Beautiful and sturdy, Plato makes a cozy, plush sock that knits up quick. Shown here in A Hallmark Holiday, Plato comes in a rainbow of our favorite colors.

And last but not least, we hope you’ll join us as we go live on our YouTube Channel, The Traveling Two Ewe Knit, every Saturday morning at 9:30 am, Eastern time. We talk about yarn, patterns, trends and fiber friends. So, grab a project and a beverage, and join us for a yarny good time. Remember, Fiber Friends are the Best Friends, and we hope you’ll be ours.

Available Saturday, January 13! The Heritage Wool Collection is custom-milled yarns made with wool from rare and endangered North American Sheep.

Some yarns will be undyed, highlighting their beautiful natural wool colors. Others will be remarkable for their gorgeous natural dyes. All will be small-batch, limited-edition yarns.

The inaugural yarns include:

ROMELDALE/CVM SPORT: Romeldale Sheep is an American fine-wool breed, and the California Variegated Mutant (CVM) is its multicolored derivative. Both the CVM and the Romeldale are unique to the US and are endangered. This yarn is soft, and bouncy and knits up into a cozy, lightweight fabric.

JACOB SPORT: rare Jacobs are a beautiful old sheep breed, distinguished by their multicolored coats and picturesque horns. They are included in The Livestock Conservancy’s list of threatened sheep breeds. The wool for this yarn was specifically chosen for its color and softness and is undyed.

KELLY’S TUNIS CHUNKY: this breed began with a gift of foundation stock to George Washington and nearly became extinct during the Civil War. This yarn has a lovely ivory color, undyed, and gives slightly muted colors with natural dyes.

Romeldale/CVM sport and Jacob sport were used to knit the Polina Pullover designed by Teti Lutsak. Pattern available January 16.

If you’re ready to explore the Wide World of Wool, become a member of The Sheep Thrills Club using the website’s newsletter sign-up. You’ll receive free shipping on your first order. It’s going to be thrilling!
