Hello from ECY Shedquarters. We have been very busy with getting lots of yarn ready for the website and preparing our Seasonal Stash Boxes. This week alone we have added Titus 4ply and our sparkly festive Rosedale 4ply update. This includes Festive Fun (cream with green and red speckles) alongside Apeldoorn Tulip (a rich red) and Larch (dark green). Rosedale 4ply is a Merino/nylon sock yarn with gold Stellina sparkle running through it. You may think that the sparkly fibres would be itchy against your skin but even the more sensitive members of our team find it comfortable to wear against the skin.

We also have an update of Hayton 4ply hitting the website on Monday 26th November. Hayton 4ply is a delicious blend of Merino Cashmere and nylon giving all the best qualities you would want in a yarn: softness of the merino, strength from the nylon and luxury from the cashmere. If you are a fan of Liz Corke and her patterns you should be very familiar with this blend. Liz’s latest pattern Tar-Sgàil uses Hayton 4ply as do many of her fingerless mitt patterns!

We are down to four Seasonal Stash Boxes left at the time of writing so if you are interested in getting your hands on one don’t delay! The listing now also has a link to a folder which shows the contents for anyone who would prefer for it not to be a surprise!

For readers in the UK we have been confirmed as vendors at East Anglia Yarn Festival on 9th-10th March 2024. Tickets for the show go on sale on Saturday morning so if you want to see us in person it would be great to see you!

Life’s Too Short to Wear White Socks

One thing can be certain — with all the spectacular sock knitters we know, none of our fiber friends wear plain white socks! And neither do their family and friends. We’ve got some gorgeous sock sets to support your sock knitting. If you aren’t going to feed your stash, then let a friend or family member know, because you’d sure love to get one of these for a holiday gift.

We still have a couple of beautiful hand-painted sock blanks. Not up for socks? We’ve seen a few gorgeous Alpine Bloom (by Boyland Knitworks) sweaters/hats using a sock blank for the colorwork. Also, as tradition demands, we’ll be hosting a Christmas Cast On make-along.

We’ve brought some new items and some restocked items to our Coco Knits corner of the shop. Check out the Project Wallet, perfectly made for travel, and the Maker’s Clips are the most useful little items we’ve ever seen. These are some of the best crafting tools on the market.

There are around 1,400 different sheep breeds, each with distinctive wool characteristics, but it’s not always easy to find their yarn. Fear not — help is here!

Here’s a small but growing collection of unusual wool yarns sourced from small U.S. farms — mostly in Ohio and Michigan. Several yarns come from larger ranches in the Western U.S. All are naturally dyed with home-grown, foraged or purchased botanicals and are non-Superwash. Most are very special, limited-edition, small-batch yarns.

There’s soft, bouncy Rambouillet, Merino’s French cousin. Woolen-spun Targhee Polypay Silk DK — warm but lightweight. Cozy Peaceful Worsted — Rambouillet blended with Texas mohair for a dreamy soft halo.

Grinning Sheep DK — a 50/50 blend of Rambouillet and Bluefaced Leicester from a small Ohio farm. And rare breed Tunis Chunky, a limited-edition yarn from Michigan.

Each type of wool has its own unique personality, and each of these yarns has a story to tell. Explore these special, naturally-dyed yarns to add your own story.

November Vincent van Gogh Preorders are Live!

It’s finally time to reveal the much-anticipated “Starry Night” colorway for my 2023 Vincent van Gogh Yarn club! This painting is known for its gorgeous blue sky interspersed with yellow and gold stars and a glowing moon. The yarn is dyed in a similar manner, featuring blues, yellows, bits of white and even the dark browns of the city below.

This order will ship by the end of December and will include the skein and a fact card about the artwork. This listing does NOT include any of the extra goodies that are for the yarn club subscribers.

You may preorder as many skeins as you wish from the selected bases. Preorders will end on November 25th to give me enough time to dye and ship packages.
