Hi all, we have lots of exciting news for you, so settle in!

We have received our latest batch of Milburn DK, which means that Wicker is back in stock and we have larger quantities of Black Tulip, Dusk and Estuary on the website. This has enabled us to restock several DK yarn pack options and Magic Circles yarn packs. Magic Circles patterns have sold out but we are expecting a restock next week. It might not be evident on the outside, but this yarn delivery is really big news for us behind the scenes as some of these batches were ordered last September. Their normal maximum turnaround time is ten weeks, so 14 months is quite an extension on that!

We have also added the current dyelots to all our Milburn listings as this is something we get a lot of emails about. It sounds obvious, but it means the titles on the website are much longer because of it, so it does have a logistical impact on various things! The upshot is that if the dyelot you are looking for is not listed then we do not have any of it available. That being said our mill dyed yarns are much more consistent across dyelots and so you should be able to complete a project using a different dyelot.

We have added new batches of hand dyed Brimham High Twist 20g mini skeins to the website this week. There are lots of colours to choose from and a fade set in colourway Tide. This fade set has four skeins rather than the five we normally include (oops). We have colour combination suggestions on flickr in the Brimham High Twist album. We have also added a limited number of mini skein presentation boxes on the website in the mini skein category. They can hold up to five mini skeins making it a great way of gift wrapping them and the box is very much reusable.

Our latest update was Rosedale 4ply which is our gold sparkle sock yarn. We have lots of yarn in this update and I am sure you will be really excited by it. Rosedale 4ply is a blend of Merino, nylon and gold Stellina. The sparkle is very subtle but catches the light beautifully as you move. Pictures don’t do justice to this beautiful yarn – you really have to see it to appreciate it. We have two posts on the blog about Rosedale 4ply: an Introductory blog post and a Projects and Patterns blog post. Both can be found on the Yarn Specific Blog Posts Index page. Rosedale 4ply is perfect for making socks with a subtle sparkle to them. This yarn is also great for shawls and is soft enough to wear next to the skin. The update included full skeins and mini skeins in a variety of colours including some festive colourways and a couple of variegated batches.

Episode 20 of The Wholly Irregular ECY Shedcast is now up on our YouTube channel, just search Eden Cottage Yarns and you should find it! A link to the Show Notes for this episode can be found in the video description. Captions will be added as soon as possible. The Shedcast is a great way to find about all our upcoming updates and see different colour combination suggestions. Also on the YouTube channel you will find the previously promised video about the Lucky Dip Cowl pattern. In it I talk about how to make the cowl, discuss the gauge and show you the Clasped Weft Join technique suggested in the pattern.

The Lucky Dip Cowl leads on nicely to Yarnlings. We know you love them and so do we! We have been listening to requests and so have added some new options to the website. You can now buy packs of 24 Yarnlings in either 4ply or DK. These would be great as an advent idea either for making a small thing (a crochet decoration perhaps?) with each one, or as part of a larger project where you add say a stripe each day. This means that you can buy the following quantities of 4ply Yarnlings: 5, 15, 20 (sock yarns only), 24 and 24 pairs (48 in total). DK Yarnlings are available in quantities of 5 and 24.

We have also been pulling together blog content; You wait ages for a blog post and then three come along in quick succession. The first one released was a reintroduction to Magic Circles by Janie Crow. This has been quite timely as the yarn packs are now back in stock after we had the Milburn DK delivery. All the colours needed for this are available in decent quantities so take a look at the blog post to see the different options and some background information about this wonderful pattern.

Next up… we have been checking out the guidance for shipment dates in the festive season. We need a few extra days to process orders and get them to the post office so please take a look at the blog post to see our guidance on when you will need to place orders by based on your location in the world. As always shipment timings cannot be guaranteed so please order in plenty of time.

If you are looking for gifts, our most recent blog post has been written to help you out with some inspiration. We have organised the list by price so you can select something for any price range. You will also find new options in the Yarn menu which will show you all products below £10, £20 or £50 pounds.

I think that is all for now. Don’t forget we ship worldwide!

The northern hemisphere may be heading for winter, but it doesn’t mean you can’t be dreaming of spring! This kit is a gorgeous knit with beautiful yarns in interesting colour combinations. The combination of two different yarn bases (Mohair Silk and Merino Lace) gives lovely texture and the shawl is soft and drapes beautifully whether you’re planning to wear it in winter or spring.

Knit Kit Details
The Joys of Spring Shawl is an intermediate-level triangle shawl knitting project. The kit comes in three colour combinations, or you can create your own.
It’s a great project for a confident knitter with basic skills who wants to explore new textures and stitches, or a more experienced knitter looking for a relaxing yet interesting project with a great result.
The project is a triangle shawl that starts on one side. Pattern bands alternate with garter stitch panels, and it ends with a picot stitch edging for a beautiful finish.
Finished size: approx 35“ (90cm) tall x 94“ (240cm) wide

Each kit contains:
– 2 x 50g skeins of Cowgirlblues Kidsilk in one of our variegated multi colours
– 2 x 50g balls of Cowgirlblues Merino Lace Single in one of our semi solid colours.
– 1 x project bag
– 1 x printed pattern

Cowgirlblues is a South African business based in Cape Town. We source our yarns locally and dye all of our colours by hand. The team is all women and creating opportunities to empower women is an essential part of what we do. We ship worldwide

You don’t have to know how to fold broken cheese to knit this quick, slip-stitch hat that’s an homage to an infamous episode of Schitt’s Creek.

Worked up in heavy DK/light worsted weight yarn, the textured colorwork pattern is worked using only one strand of yarn at a time and slipping stitches here and there. Knit it up in two solid colors, or substitute a variegated skein or scraps for the contrasting color. There’s even a handy table to help you figure out which size to make at different stitch gauges if you want to work it to a different gauge than the pattern.

This club is inspired by autumnal days, with chilly winds and falling leaves all around, and we thought it was the best time to celebrate with warm, chunky yarn and mugs filled with hot drinks… and we have them both: A Stormy Blend DK — our newest hand dyed base — and an illustrated enameled mug, ready to be launched!

The club is a “flash” one, as it will run from November 19 to 23 only.

The contents of this club will NOT be secret, but only in the colorway, which will be inspired by a campfire mood, made of warm and shifty shades, to transport you to a forest, sitting by a fire, bundled up in your warmest hat and shawl.

Each installment comprises one mug + two skein of A Stormy Blend hand dyed in a dedicated colorway, but as we know you’re naughty guys, and you’ll be able to add more skeins of course.

The colorway is exclusive for club members, but the mug will also be available as a single item in our shop; please expect a colorway that evokes dried falling leaves and warm fireplaces!

We collaborated with the amazing illustrator Alice Pasinetti of Little Pine Alice, and when we started working together on the Advent calendars we asked her to illustrate a mug inspired by our project; we are over the moon about the result: the watercolor figures floating around the enameled surface make us smile with every sip.

Some useful information:
– Sign-ups for the club run from Friday, November 19 at 18.00 CET to November 23 at midnight CET
– Yarn content: two skeins of A Stormy Blend DK – 100g – 225m in 70% wool/30% grey alpaca – hand dyed – that knits up in 4mm to 5.5mm needles
– You’ll have the option to add more skeins in the exclusive colorway directly when ordering the club from our shop; please note that these are available only by purchasing the club
– Bundles will be shipped around December 6

All our yarns contain Italian fibres and are minimally processed in a small-chain production process; yarn is nylon free and non Superwash.

Yay, it’s finally sweater weather!

We are so thrilled to announce the release of a new pattern by Tif Nielan. The Sprout Pullover was designed with our Tweed DK. This pattern has two lengths: cropped (as seen in the pictures) and standard length. The pattern is well written and tested.

Amanda’s is knit in onyx/natural. Tif’s is knit in earth/blushing. We have put together some other color combinations. This is a perfect piece for layering over your favorite long skirt, dress or jeans.

Linen is an interesting material. Stiffer then cotton, it has the incredible quality to soften with use.

If you are following me in my colour discovery journey, you have seen me dye many colours, mainly on cotton. I have also experimented on linen.

The linen I use comes from Lithuania and I buy the unbleached and un-dyed linen mixed with cotton, which means that I dye over the natural colour: a mix of beige and light grey.

This of course has some influence on the final colour, giving it a more ethereal aura.

Hand-dyed, handprinted, patchwork, all the Linen collection has an ethereal aura that will transport you directly to an elven realm.

Susanne Visch of La Visch Designs is releasing a gorgeous new shawl pattern on Saturday, November 20th, and I am lucky enough to offer kits.

This generous cabled shawl has all the cozy cold weather feels with lots of squishy garter and a simple cable AND it’s on sale through November 30th. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy your holiday season than with ultra soft DK weight Merino and lots of gorgeous garter knitting!

The kit includes three skeins of WayfaringYarns Arcadia DK (my in-house hand-dyed yarn) and a free download code of the Mossy Cables pattern.

As with all Sweater Sisters kits, this pattern is tech edited and test knit.

All yarn is hand-dyed by me in micro batches in Alta, Wyoming.

Hi!

I’ve been on a bit of an experimentation kick recently and have a lot of one-of-a-kind skeins, mini skeins (in singles or sets), and single skeins of different bases! These would be perfect for stocking stuffers, holiday swaps, or Secret Santa exchanges. Denver and Lookout Mountain were inspired by the landscape on a recent trip to Colorado. Pumpkin Spice and Lavender Milk Tea were inspired by popular drinks in the summer and fall seasons. All the minis have come from pure experimentation with color mixing. The Lake Days Sock Set collection was inspired by those lazy summer days relaxing on the lake and enjoying the scenery.

In an effort to start getting packages out early and hopefully not clogging the USPS too much, my holiday sale will start 11/17 and run through 11/28, discount will automatically apply at checkout. Keep an eye on my Instagram (@knitting_lizard_fibers) to see what else I’m brewing up in the dye pots.

Now live in the shop!
