We are so excited to be doing another Advent calendar this year! The Halloween box is mailed out, and now we are opening orders for our Christmas Advent!

*** PREORDER CLOSES November 28th ***

This is a Preorder of our exclusive, limited-edition 12 Days of Christmas Advent! This will ship by December 5th, 2022 to ensure delivery by December 14th, 2022.

Who doesn’t love a good surprise? This year, for the very first time, Dragonflight Yarns is releasing an exclusive Christmas-themed mini skein set. Treat yourself with eleven (11) 20g mini fingering skeins, one full 100g fingering skein, and many fun holiday themed goodies!

Each mini skein will be individually wrapped and numbered so that you can open one a day in order! Start unwrapping on December 14th and look forward to the full skein on Christmas Day!

This year I have created various Gift Guides to help you choose gift for all your friends, whether they are knitters or non-knitters!

Starting with the friends who are not knitters , but who like nice stuff, our selection of handcrafted bags is perfect to show them your love!

And then I imagined various situations you could find yourself in, with your knitter friends:
– Gifts for the friend you don’t know very well: a selections of gift under 20€
– Gifts for the friend who has all the latest gadgets, but maybe not some unusual one
– Gifts for the friend who has 10 (or more) projects going at one time
– Gifts for the friend who uses only plastic bags (ehm…)
– Last minutes gifts that do not require shipping

I have created a guide for every situation, with many ideas for all your gifts this holiday season!

We’ve updated the shop with preorders for our Dark Arts collection, great yarn combinations with discounts built in and we have a special code for our Indie Untangled best friends. It’s the perfect time to get a head start on cozy knits for this winter! There are lots of yarns on sale and you can use the code BESTIE for an extra 15% off your purchase through Monday November 14th.

We are so excited about this month’s subscription box!

This month’s colorway is called: Foxy! This colorway comes with an adorable fox stitch marker!

With our subscription box, you pick the yarn weight, we pick the colorway. And as long as you are a subscriber to the club, you get discounts on the ENTIRE site! It is the perfect gift for yourself or for your favorite fiber artist in your life!

This week we’re offering something super special in the shop! Our Yuletide Carols Sock Sets are super with the addition of a THIRD mini to what is usually our expanded sock sets! That’s right, each sock set comes with three coordinated minis, offering so many options for mixing and matching to make the socks of your vision. Available in both fingering and DK weights, they allow for maximum flexibility.

Our Rustic Sock Sets are available now in the shop and include two coordinated minis, to follow the typical form of our expanded sock sets. These just have fall vibes aplenty and will really make you feel the chill of autumn in a cozy sort of way.

Being in Florida, we’ve been somewhat impacted by Hurricane Nicole, though we are safe and sound. Our followers have become accustomed to a hurricane mystery colorway anytime a storm is impacting our state. This time was no different and we’re currently offering a Hurricane Nicole 2022 Mystery Colorway PREORDER. It’s a way to relieve the anxiety about the coming storm and have a little fun. Hurricane Mystery Colorways are not generally dyed again, so now is the time to order.

We hope you and yours have remained safe from the storm! Join us for our LIVE! podcast on Saturday morning at 9:30 AM EST over on our YouTube channel. We’ll see you then!

We have exciting news to share: our latest new yarn, Keld Twist, is now available on the website. YAY!!! We all adore this yarn at ECY Shedquarters and the test group do too so it’s really good to finally be able to release it into the wild!

Keld Twist (4ply/fingering weight) is the same beautiful blend of Superwash Merino with linen as found in Keld Fingering and Keld Aran, although slightly different in that this is 16.7% linen whereas the other have only 10%. The linen stands out on medium-dark colours as it doesn’t take the dye the same as the wool, so on a lot of colourways it has a marled effect. The overall look is a slightly rustic yarn with linen fibres providing a little fluff, depth, and texture. Keld Twist is two plies spun together giving this yarn and the resulting fabric a bit more structure than the singles fingering weight. It’s ever so gorgeous and is ideal for summer accessories and garments, working well at a loose gauge as well as a standard 4ply gauge. If you’ve used Keld Aran you’ll find that this is basically the same but thinner. It substitutes into patterns well as a 4ply/fingering weight yarn.

Although we have absolutely fallen in love with this yarn here at ECY Shedquarters I don’t expect you to just take our word for it, so we’ve had a group of testers appraise it for us! They have knitted, crocheted, and Tunisian crocheted – some are still in progress but there’s enough info and opinions for us to go on already. The overall verdict is that everyone absolutely loves this yarn so far! I honestly don’t expect that to be the outcome — if someone had said it was not for them I would include it in the reviews, but they haven’t. You can find our blog post introducing the yarn on our Yarn Specific Blog Posts blog which you can find in the Blog menu on our website. The blog post includes the test projects and the testers’ thoughts about the yarn.

Tis the season for make-alongs and we have news of a crochet-along (CAL) launching today from one of our all-time favourite designers. Janie Crow has released information about the Glad Tidings wrap CAL over on her website. As the pattern is being released in parts the CAL is only available through Ravelry for now but the full pattern will be released on Etsy and Jane’s website after the 15th December. The CAL will be released in sections daily from the 1st to the 15th of December. The pattern recommends 16 x 20g mini skeins of 4ply/fingering weight yarn but you could actually make it in any number of colours. With that in mind we have yarn packs on our website using eight x 50g balls of Milburn with a number of colour combinations and we have a lucky dip mini skein set available too.

We have loads of stuff in progress (as usual) including hand dyed yarn orders in progress for a number of our stockists: Find Me Knitting, Loop and Knitting Pretty have all received orders from us recently and we are working on order for Yarn O’Clock. We have stockists around the world so to find one near you check out our Stockists page. You may be able to save money and time by ordering from a stockist in your region!

Also in progress we have updates of the following yarns:
Hayton DK – Merino/Cashmere/nylon (which I’m dubbing our ‘teddy bear yarn’ because it’s SO squishy)
Titus 4ply – Merino/silk (absolute classic)

These will be coming to the website ASAP – Hayton DK is being photographed and will be on the website very soon (hopefully this week)! Photography is actually really hard over winter as I’m totally incapable of indoor photography, the weather is currently either bright sunshine or raining, and with the darker days there’s a lot less time in the day to photograph yarn! So do watch out for these as once I get them done they can go on the website quickly, so it could be quite short notice!

Coming very soon we will have our festive boxes containing handmade project bags from Kalok Shek Ellen with matching yarn and some other seasonal treats. These will be on the website in the next week or so!

While Socktober is coming to a close, yarn season is not! Moving into the holidays means finally getting serious about those knitting projects meant to be gifted!

This week in the shop, we’ve got some amazing color just right for transforming into treasures for yourself and loved ones. Renewal and Out of the Mist are great on their own and also coordinate perfectly, making an easy combo for projects that require two colors.

Living in Florida, we have a longstanding tradition in our Yarny Ewes Facebook group of offering a mystery colorway in the face of an impending hurricane. Hurricane Ian was no different. We are gutted by the destruction and pain that Ian has wrought. Our DistractIAN colorway has been met with rave reviews and we’ve brought it back as a preorder with a twist; a portion of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Ian victims. This yarn is due to ship early December, but we know it’s a colorway worth waiting for.

Cranky Sock Sets remain in the shop this week, so if you’re looking to make the most of the last moments of Socktober, this is the way to go. The kits contain a pre-cranked sock tube, a coordinating mini and a code to scan for FREE directions on how to transform the kit into a lovely pair of socks! You can’t go wrong.

This weekend is our Falloween Retreat at Barnsley Resort in northern Georgia, so be sure to catch our live podcast on Saturday over on our YouTube channel to see what’s happening in the shop and at the retreat!

Irrigon is created in the pure luxury of June Cashmere’s Fingering yarn. Irrigon is a three-color sleeveless pullover that has the feel of a poncho but is worn more like a sweater. The upper body is worked in one color, while the vented lower body, with a high-low hem, uses different colors on the front and back. The sweater features an easy-to-memorize vertical lace pattern.

Irrigon can be worn layered as shown or on its own and can be worn multiple seasons and in many climates. Wear it casually or dress it up.

Have fun choosing your three colors from the gorgeous selection June Cashmere has to offer. Be sure to check out their website for Irrigon kits.
